Zane's emotions this time were clearly visible for everyone to see he was deeply shaken. Upset, disappointed and furious.
"Have you two discussed this?" Lucas asked, reading the air.
"Yes," she answered calmly without glancing away from Lucas. "I have. But he refuses to accept it. Chairman Lucas, I want to walk away without hurting the alliance. If I don't leave properly, every downfall will be pinned on me. I don't want to be hunted by that."
Gilbert slammed his palm on the table which vibrated angrily across the room.
The poor refreshments flinched at his fury but Selina held her ground, refusing to be intimidated by his outburst.
"What nonsense are you pulling, Selina? You can't walk away while we're drowning. You're not divorcing Zane until I say so!" His voice carried desperation—the desperation of someone who knew exactly what this divorce could cost him.
