Zane let out a sharp, incredible snort. "So it was sentiment that made you ditch your old friend's proposal?"
"If the work isn't flawless, you wouldn't have signed it," Lucas uttered. "The project won. My bias is secondary. But don't get comfortable, Zane."
"Alright. I'll put the gears in motion once EMT is ready."
"You won't be doing anything."
The command hit Zane like a physical blow. His grip tightened on the handset.
Zane's brows creased, his voice thick with shock. "Are you suggesting Selina asked you to strip me of my role?"
"You don't deserve to be part of anything that belongs to her," Lucas replied flatly. "I've appointed a director to coordinate with her. You have to stay out of it."
Zane's jaw tensed, his pulse hammering at his temples.
"Now that you're back from your travels," Lucas continued, "there's no excuse for the delay. Sign the divorce papers and—"
