Jasper tapped Annabelle's shoulder. "She's right. And I heard that even KS employees haven't seen his face—he always wears a mask. Only the board members have seen him, and they never reveal anything. Zane hates attention. Rarely appears at events."
Selina nodded rapidly. "Exactly. Probably some masonic weirdo staying mysterious. Maybe he's too ugly and scared of getting mocked." She clicked her tongue and focused on her laptop.
She hoped the sarcasm in her tone would crush their suspicions.
Annabelle, however, noticed how Selina's hands trembled—nothing like her usual calm, precise composure. She collected her phone.
"Oh. The bus is here," Annabelle blurted, giving Selina a space. "Jasper. Hurry up."
"Yes. I'm exhausted." Jasper groaned.
Annabelle grabbed Jasper's arm and tugged him towards the blue bus, which now pulled up at the bus stop.
Jasper paused when he noticed Selina not following.
"Selina, aren't you coming?"
