"Selina," Zane whispered, tone weary and conflicted, her name echoed strangely distant even to himself.
Damien swallowed hard, feeling the suffocating weight of his boss's tense emotion. He hadn't seen Zane this worked up—not even the day Selina left with Noah, thinking she had vanished.
He cleared his throat.
"Boss… do you mind if I say something?" Damien asked cautiously, seeking permission before adding fuel to the fire already burning inside Zane.
Zane's intense gaze slowly opened, meeting Damien's reflection in the rearview mirror. "Go on."
"I think Ms Selina might be overwhelmed by your sudden… tender, thoughtful, and caring side," Damien suggested.
"So?"
"Good grief. Calm down, boss." Damien thought, noting how his boss looked impatient yet dangerous when conflicted.
"So… you should continue with understanding and tenderness until she adjusts to this new side of you. Maybe you can win her heart, and she'll forget about the divorce," Damien added carefully.
