"I see. You're disappointed because you think I can't pay for the fine, right?" he asked.
Selina said nothing. Her eyes narrowed, disbelief and exhaustion crossing her features.
He slipped his hand into his pocket, pulling out a card and reaching for hers. Their fingers brushed—a deliberate, cold touch. It did nothing to soothe her, only stoked the furnace of resentment she refused to show.
When his eyes fell on her clenched fist refusing to accept the card, he added.
"This is now yours. You don't have to worry about me breaking the deal. So… don't leave, Selina."
Selina wore a bitter beam, eyes moist but defiant— staring at the black card that rested on her clenched fist. She told herself not to be affected, yet her pulse thundered painfully, betraying the ache he hadn't acknowledged. The worst was that, his arrogance right now made her stomach churn violently.
