"Did he hurt you?" he asked, his voice a rasping growl of raw worry. His eyes were already scanning her body for bruises, and when he spotted her scraped knees, his chest clenched.
Selina shook her head. "No. I'm not hurt."
"But why did you come here alone, Selina?" he scolded, his lips trembling. "You know how dangerous this is!"
"I just wanted to get things—" her lips pursed as she noticed his bleeding arm. "You are hurt badly. You need to get it treated."
Sean glanced at his arm, which he barely felt compared to the terror of what might have happened to Selina if he had arrived a little later. Earlier, he had jumped through a shattered window with Noah after the sectional overhead door had been firmly locked from the inside by the pervert.
"I'm fine as long as you're untouched," he whispered, offering her a warm smile. "It's over now."
Selina's lips curved into a stiff smile as she whispered back, "Yes. It is over."
