Escaping the warehouse with her new squad, they headed back to Sterling Haven. She sat on the soft mattress across from Sean, who was seated on a low stool beside her.
He held her leg gently against his thigh, brushing a cotton ball soaked with spirits across the fresh bruise. Selina could only watch him quietly, as he had refused to let her do it herself.
Leaning in, Sean blew a cool breeze over the surface before lifting his soft gaze to hers.
"Does it still hurt?"
She shook her head. "It doesn't hurt much anymore. I'm feeling better now."
"All right," he said, reaching for a bandage patch from the bed. He peeled off the white paper and placed the patch gently over her knee. "After the event, I'll take you to the hospital to get it treated properly. For now, don't stress your knees."
"Mmm," Selina hummed in response, lowering her leg after he had finished nursing the wound.
She flashed him a warm smile. "Thank you."
Sean smiled back. "I hope you win this event."
