Volume 1 Chapter 250: Sneak Attack
During the afternoon PE class, Wang Jie looked completely drained, making the PE teacher frown deeply.
After roll call, they did the usual two laps of slow jogging. Wang Jie barely managed to finish one lap with the group before becoming so weak he could barely walk.
Leaning heavily on Wen Yang's shoulder, with his lips pale and his calves trembling, Wang Jie looked like he might drop dead at any moment.
"Your girlfriend… is she that intense?"
Wen Yang wasn't sure whether to sympathize with Wang Jie or envy him.
He could only pat his shoulder and offer some advice: "Seriously though, get some exercise. You can't just stay holed up in the dorm all the time."
Otherwise, he'd get drained dry sooner or later.
Wang Jie weakly nodded. "Mm."
"You gotta regain your manhood, bro~" Wen Yang shook his head and clicked his tongue. "Don't let your girlfriend think you're a pushover."
"Let me rest a couple days first…"
After finally struggling through the two laps, Wang Jie plopped onto the ground.
He panted heavily, and even though he looked like he'd been squeezed dry, his tone still carried a bit of pride and smugness.
Looking up at Wen Yang, he asked, "How are things going with your girlfriend?"
"Just one last step to go. Teach me—how'd you manage it?"
Wen Yang sat down next to Wang Jie, humbly seeking guidance.
His eyes kept drifting toward Ning Chu, who was laughing and playing around with Yan Xinya and Lily in the distance.
He wasn't really in a rush—after all, he hadn't been dating Ning Chu for that long. Plus, his girlfriend was a little succubus—who knew when her instincts would take over? For all he knew, she'd pin him down before he even made a move, and he'd end up the one getting thoroughly devoured.
But just in case Ning Chu was really serious about guarding that final line…
"Me, huh…" Wang Jie's pale face flushed a little as he mumbled shyly, "It just… happened naturally."
"What do you mean?"
"She… took the initiative…"
Wen Yang froze.
Your girlfriend's a succubus too?
Wang Jie sighed with a bit of a headache. "Who knew she'd be so fierce? She always seemed so quiet and gentle."
"…"
"Now she's saying we should get married right after graduation. I think I'm gonna have to meet her parents over the New Year."
He looked a bit nervous. "I'm not sure if her parents will like me."
Wen Yang patted his shoulder, reassuring him, "Don't worry, you're not bad. Just don't be too nervous, or you might mess it up."
Wang Jie might not be handsome, but he had decent features and a good, honest personality. As long as his family background was okay, meeting the parents shouldn't be too big of a deal.
After a short rest, the PE teacher shouted for everyone to gather up again—it was time to continue the physical fitness test.
"Today is the long-distance run: 1000 meters for boys, 800 meters for girls."
"Passing time for boys is 4 minutes 33 seconds. For girls, 4 minutes 23 seconds."
As more students gathered, the teacher organized them. "Boys first, follow me."
Blended into the crowd, Ning Chu let out a worried sigh.
Even though her physical abilities hadn't dropped much after feminizing, they were still about average for a girl.
Now she had to run 1000 meters by male standards.
Passing was probably out of reach.
Sure enough, after pushing herself through two and a half laps, Ning Chu only managed to finish in about five minutes.
But the one recording the times… was her boyfriend.
Before she even caught her breath, she jogged over to Wen Yang and peeked at her score.
"How'd I do?"
Wen Yang glanced at the teacher not far away and whispered, "You passed."
"Mhm~" Ning Chu nodded, satisfied, then turned to watch the rest of the students still running on the track.
Some of them were overweight or total shut-ins who never exercised, with even worse stamina than hers. A few were still strolling around the track at a snail's pace.
That included Wang Jie.
He had fallen way behind. His face was as pale as a sickly ghost, and he wobbled with every step, like he might collapse and end up on the news.
"So pitiful~"
Drained dry by his girlfriend for two straight days, only to be hit with a thousand-meter run right after.
Ning Chu didn't pay him much mind. She turned to Wen Yang and asked, "What should we eat tonight?"
"Up to you and Black Bean. I'm not picky."
"I'm not picky either."
Wen Yang shot her a skeptical look, then nodded in agreement, "Yeah, sure, you're not picky."
"Oh right, my mom's coming in a couple of days to pick up Black Bean… You wanna meet her?"
Ning Chu looked at his suddenly tense expression, her tone playful, "You're gonna meet her eventually anyway—what are you so scared of?"
Wen Yang really hadn't seen that coming.
Just earlier, he'd been comforting Wang Jie about meeting the in-laws, and now it was his turn to face the same thing.
He instantly understood Wang Jie's anxiety—his own nerves were all over the place
"Uh… let's see how it goes, I guess? Should I prepare a gift or something?"
"You really don't have to. My mom doesn't even know I'm in a relationship."
Ning Chu wasn't too eager to let her mom in on her personal dating life, especially considering her mom still saw her as someone who had only recently become a girl.
Getting a boyfriend so quickly might just be too much for her to handle.
And yeah… it was fast.
Just two months ago, she was still a guy.
Now she was practically deep into full-blown femininity.
At this rate, even if she didn't end up offering herself freely, she'd still be drinking Wen Yang 'milk' daily to "recover."
Wen Yang's old insecurity about his family background started creeping up again. He asked worriedly, "What if… she thinks I'm not good enough for you?"
Seeing the way Ning Chu's brow furrowed, he quickly perked up. "We've still got over three years of college left—I'll work hard."
"That's more like it~" Ning Chu nodded, satisfied. "Besides, it's not like you're dating my mom. Why are you so concerned about what she thinks?"
"My family's not exactly well-off either. We all rely on my older brother's paycheck, and he only makes a few thousand a month. You can't be much worse off."
Though Ning Chu's maternal grandfather seemed to be fairly wealthy. Apparently, the house they were living in had been part of her mom's dowry.
If her mom weren't so proud and headstrong, she wouldn't have had to work herself to the bone just to raise two kids.
There was only one PE class that afternoon, so by a bit past 4:00 PM, roll call was done and classes were officially over for the day.
Ning Chu ran off to the cafeteria and bought two cups of milk tea—one for each of them.
While chatting and laughing, they headed off campus together.
She had to hurry back to check on Black Bean, just in case the silly cat got into trouble again.
"That group project is due next week, we should probably get started soon."
"No worries, I've already done almost all of it myself."
"That fast?"
Wen Yang was confident in his academics. He nodded. "I even finished the PTT. I'll show you when we get back."
"You did the work of four people by yourself…"
If she'd had a teammate like that in her last life, Ning Chu wouldn't have ended up hating group projects so much.
As they stepped out of the school gates, Ning Chu glanced around, didn't spot any familiar faces, and happily wrapped her arm around Wen Yang's.
"Perfect timing~ My web novel just got signed too!"
"As long as I update consistently and get it on the shelves, I'll be making at least a few hundred a month just from full attendance!"
"Look at you, big-time author~"
"You bet!" Ning Chu nodded her little head proudly. "If I get enough readers and someone buys the rights to the novel, I'll never have to worry about food or—"
Her smile suddenly froze.
"Never have to worry about food or what?" Wen Yang noticed she'd stopped walking and looked down, confused.
"M-Mom…"
He stiffened too, following her gaze.
Not far ahead, a stunningly beautiful woman was standing by the roadside, smiling warmly at the two of them.
Wasn't she supposed to come in a couple days?!
