Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: Changes in the Body

Outside the Door-Door Space,

Magellan grew increasingly uneasy as Kaito still hadn't come out. He turned to look at Kalifa and asked,

"They've been in there a while now. Do you think something went wrong?"

Kalifa shot him a quick glance, then continued to stare at the entrance to the Door-Door Space as she replied flatly,

"No. The boss is the strongest. He doesn't fail."

"But I still feel a little uneasy. Do you know how to get into that space?"

"That's the boss's ability. Unless he allows it, no one can enter."

Magellan could only fume inwardly at this stubborn and cold secretary, but he didn't dare lose his temper at her.

With the name Uchiha Kaito now echoing across the seas, it was only natural that many journalists were scrambling to report on his personality and preferences. The information was chaotic and often contradictory—people wrote all kinds of nonsense.

Still, among the many rumors, a few key traits kept coming up again and again. One of them was this: Kaito was fiercely protective of his own.

Magellan had even more solid internal proof of this. He knew for a fact that Kaito once killed two Celestial Dragon bodyguards because of a woman.

And that woman was none other than the one standing in front of him—Kalifa.

So even if he was growing anxious, he dared not show it in front of her.

All he could do was widen his small eyes—which didn't quite match his huge frame—and, without blinking, keep staring at the space entrance along with Kalifa.

Fortunately, Kaito didn't make Magellan wait too long. Before much time had passed, he emerged from the Door-Door Space.

However, the moment Magellan and Kalifa saw his face, they both froze. Magellan even forgot to ask why Bullet had disappeared.

Kalifa hurried forward, gently reaching for the right side of Kaito's forehead, where a visible lump had formed—like he'd been punched.

Her touch soft with concern, she asked,

"Boss, are you hurt?"

Kaito was even more confused. He'd only felt a slight itch earlier, and when he touched the spot, he hadn't noticed any lump.

And yet in that brief span of time… a bump had actually formed on his head?

Thinking back on his fight with Bullet, Kaito was sure he hadn't taken even a scratch. Their battle had been a total one-sided domination.

Given his current physical condition, unless he was hit with an overwhelming force, even the tiniest injury shouldn't be possible.

Still, seeing Kalifa's worried face warmed his heart. He gently took her hand and said softly,

"I'm fine. Bullet has been executed. Let me take a look at this bump first."

Kalifa nodded and took a compact mirror from her pocket, handing it to him.

Kaito held it up and looked at his forehead. Sure enough, there was a lump, and its center was slightly red.

He reached up again to touch it and found that, aside from a bit of itchiness, it didn't hurt at all.

Suddenly, an image flashed in his mind—a race of people known for planting trees.

The Ōtsutsuki.

Kaito quickly raised his hands in front of his eyes to examine them. Was it just his imagination, or had his skin become noticeably paler?

He turned to Kalifa and asked urgently,

"Kalifa, do I look… paler than before?"

Kalifa blinked in surprise, then tilted her head adorably and studied his face from all angles.

After a moment, she really did notice a difference—Kaito had indeed become paler. His already stunningly handsome face seemed to have leveled up even further.

Staring blankly at his radiant good looks, Kalifa dazed out.

Kaito noticed she'd been silently staring at his face for quite some time. He waved a hand in front of her and asked,

"Kalifa? What's up? Did my face get paler or not?"

"So handsome... I mean—yes! Whiter! Boss, your skin definitely looks paler!"

Kaito ignored the first part of her response—he knew exactly how good-looking he was.

What mattered was that he really had turned paler. Combined with the sudden appearance of that bump on his head, he was now almost certain—his body had begun to enter the Ōtsutsuki mode.

Magellan, who had been watching this whole exchange between Kaito and Kalifa—her touching, him questioning—couldn't help stepping forward to ask,

"Kaito, you really did kill Bullet, right? Where's his body?"

"I kept the corpse for later use. Don't worry, he's definitely dead."

Without waiting for Magellan to respond, Kaito suddenly turned his eyes toward him.

Under the gaze of the Rinnegan, Magellan felt the hair on his neck stand on end. He swallowed hard, his impulse to ask further questions dying instantly in his throat.

Kaito held his gaze and then said,

"Magellan, use your Devil Fruit power on me."

"Nani?!"

Magellan took two steps back in shock. He had no idea what madness had overtaken Kaito.

Even he—the user of the Venom-Venom Fruit—feared its power. And now Kaito wanted him to use it on him?

Magellan glanced at the bump on Kaito's forehead and muttered to himself,

"Did Bullet mess up his brain before dying?"

But Kaito showed no intention of backing down. He simply wanted to verify something. He went on,

"There's something I need to confirm. Don't hesitate—just use your ability on me. I'll be fine."

Even Kaito didn't realize how his voice now carried no emotion—only an overwhelming sense of divinity and authority, making it impossible to question.

Kalifa watched him nervously. Something about him felt different, like he'd changed into someone else entirely.

Magellan, meanwhile, was frozen. Kaito's voice struck a chord deep within him. He had the unsettling feeling that refusing would invoke divine wrath.

The sensation was abstract, but unmistakably real.

He swallowed again. Even the rumbling from his stomach was forgotten.

Tearing his eyes away from the Rinnegan with difficulty, he steeled himself and said,

"Fine! Do what you want. If you get poisoned, I'll bring you the antidote!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Magellan's right arm began to ooze a purple liquid—a powerful venom. Without an antidote, just touching it meant enduring immense suffering before death. It was truly terrifying.

But Kaito frowned and said,

"Not enough. Don't you have a red version that's even more poisonous? Use that one."

Magellan blinked, puzzled by how Kaito knew that. But since things had already gone this far—might as well bring on the storm.

His eyes narrowed slightly as the purple venom on his arm began to change color—darkening to a dangerous crimson. When the red toxin hit the ground, it sizzled with a bone-chilling hiss.

Only then did Kaito nod in satisfaction. He opened the Door-Door Space again and turned to Kalifa, instructing her,

"Kalifa, go inside for now. This venom's not something you want to get on you."

Kalifa immediately nodded and did as he said, stepping into the Door-Door Space.

Inside, she let out a breath of relief, a soft smile blooming on her lips.

Just now, Kaito's emotionless tone had genuinely scared her. She had worried that some mysterious change had taken over him—that he had become someone else entirely.

But from his gentle concern, she knew—

Her boss was still the same as ever.

The kindest man in the world.
