Chapter 139 - CHAPTER 139

c139: Explosion

"What is Prince Hui's full name?"

Xiao Wang pressed again, recalling from their earlier interrogations how some Rocket remnants often went by titles instead of names.

"No idea…" Dong Ge replied sluggishly, his tone as lifeless as a fainted Magikarp.

"Where is Prince Hui now?"

Xiao Wang's brow furrowed, trying a different angle.

"I don't know," Dong Ge muttered.

Chen Xiaoxiao and Lin Lin exchanged looks. Doesn't know anything, then why was he so scared when we mentioned the name?

When repeated questions yielded no more than shrugs, Xiao Wang ordered sharply,

"Hypno—Hypnosis, then Dream Eater!"

Hypno's pendulum swayed, putting Dong Ge under, before Xiao Wang's Pokédex-linked Dream Reader program began pulling memories just like they'd done when tracking the Team Galactic courier in the Sinnoh arc.

After several tense moments, Xiao Wang shared the recovered data with Chen Xiaoxiao and Gym Leader Lin.

The intel was clear: this was a Pokémon smuggling syndicate not poachers themselves, but middlemen who received, cared for, and sold stolen Pokémon. The leader? Prince Hui.

He orchestrated every deal and shipment via encrypted Pokédex messages. None of the underlings had ever seen his face just as in the previous Johto case where Masked Ice manipulated events from the shadows.

One crucial lead emerged: Prince Hui's Pokédex contact data.

"Sorry, Xiao Wang," Lin muttered, taking Dong Ge's Pokédex to scan recent communications. Among the contacts was one saved simply as "Prince."

"Mina, trace this number's owner," Lin said.

"I'm on it." Mina jotted the number starting with 08 into her own device. After a quick search through the League's trainer registry and public business records, she froze.

"Found him. The number belongs to the owner of the Prince Hotel in Guancheng."

Even Mina, usually composed, was rattled. She passed the evidence to Lin.

Lin's expression hardened. "This is a publicly respected figure a noted philanthropist in Guancheng, an Elite-level trainer known for his Dragonite, and… a sitting member of Huaxia's central committee."

Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes narrowed. "If you'd rather avoid the politics, I can take the lead." She wasn't intimidated; as a League prosecutor with her own near-Champion-level roster, she had the skill and backing to challenge such a figure.

Lin knew the stakes: arresting someone of this status required precision. One strike, no mistakes just as when they'd cornered Pryce years ago. The political ripples would be massive.

"There's no avoiding it," Lin said firmly. "We go tonight."

"Xiaotian, take the truck and escort the captured grunts back to the Gym. Xiao Wang, ready?"

"Always," Xiao Wang grinned. "Knocking down a big-shot politician? I'm in."

"Mina, track Prince Hui's location."

Minutes later, Mina confirmed, "Still at the Prince Hotel, hasn't left since returning."

Lin nodded. "Mina, Xiaotian head back. Chen Xiaoxiao, Xiao Wang let's move."

Chen Xiaoxiao frowned at the sight of Lin and Xiao Wang prepping Aerodactyl for the trip. "Too slow. Recall them we'll use Gardevoir."

They obeyed, and Chen Xiaoxiao gave the coordinates. Gardevoir's eyes glowed, warping them through space. Multiple chained Teleports later, they emerged near a glittering skyscraper.

"That's it. If he's inside, it'll be the top-floor office," Lin said.

"Gardevoir, scan for life signs on the roof and top floor," Chen ordered.

A moment later, Gardevoir reported telepathically: One presence by the window agitated, restless.

Meanwhile, in that office, Prince Hui glanced at his Pokédex. "An hour and no reply from Warehouse 3? Did something happen?" His unease warred with denial. Pouring half a bottle of vintage Lumiose wine into a glass, he drained it, then stared out at Guancheng's starry skyline, trying to steady his pulse.

"Let's go straight in," Lin decided, releasing Kartana. Xiao Wang readied Aerodactyl.

"Gardevoir inside," Chen commanded.

With a shimmer, they appeared behind Prince Hui. He froze at the reflection in the glass, then turned slowly, masking his tension with a smile.

"Master Lin… Prosecutor Chen… what an unexpected visit. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Prince Hui, surrender peacefully," Lin said, his Kartana hovering at his side.

"Oh? And why would I do that? What crime do you think I've committed?" Hui's hand drifted toward his belt.

He's reaching for a Poké Ball, Gardevoir warned. Psychic energy lashed out, locking his arm in place.

Hui chuckled. "Impressive… but too late! Go, Golem! Go, Salamence!"

Two Poké Balls burst open. Before the intruders could react, Hui barked his next order one they'd heard only once before, during the Vermilion Harbor incident:

"Golem—Explosion!"
