"Why wouldn't I?" Yu Xuan replied calmly.
Wan Shou's pupils shrank.
Despite the clear difference in cultivation, an invisible pressure bore down on him.
"You're really that confident?" Wan Shou sneered.
"Do you think the sect will protect you? You're from the lower realms, with almost no backing. If offering your head can prevent a great war, what do you think they'll choose?"
Yu Xuan smiled faintly, the kind of smile only an arrogant young master could wear naturally.
"Well thought," he said lazily.
"But that still doesn't stop me from snapping your neck. I also happen to have quite the backing."
He definitely was not thinking of his master.
Wan Shou hesitated.
That confidence made him slightly uneasy but that was all.
"And just so you're clear," Yu Xuan continued, his voice turning cold, "you won't die merely for targeting me. That was your mission, after all. But how dare you target my people? And worse, how dare you set your eyes on her?"
The air froze.
