Chapter 96 - Notes

Kiah spent hours immersed in the projection, studying the reconstruction of Duskworn and its many territories. The maps unfolded in front of her like living terrain, spanning from the nearest wastelands to the bustling inner towns.

The automated voice narrated how Duskworn had risen from the rubble after years of riots and revolts that nearly wiped it out.

It was an enlightening experience. Kiah realized that although Duskworn was often called a "city," it was far more than that. It was an expanse of interconnected zones with their own systems and secrets.

There were slums, the black markets, the red-light districts — proof that people still hadn't learned from the dangers of the night — as well as entertainment sectors and commercial zones. Some areas were even marked off-limits or danger zones due to toxic air or because they were controlled by hidden factions.

Those factions caught Kiah's attention immediately. She had heard whispers about them back at the base.
