Kiah stepped out of the library to find the sun already high up in the sky. The heat pressed down on her but thankfully her cap shielded her face from the harsh rays. She'd spent quite a while chasing information, longer than she'd realized.
The streets were far more livelier now than they had been that morning. This was, after all, the heart of the commercial district.
She began walking at an unhurried pace, her eyes subtly scanning her surroundings, taking in the rhythm of the street.
All around her, different activities were going on. Vendors shouted over one another, their voices echoing through the narrow lanes as they tried to pull customers to their stalls.
Her gaze landed on a white-beard man tugging a reluctant young customer by the arm.
"Come, sir! We fix everything from watches to TVs!"
"I said I'm not interested. Don't touch me."
A woman in a side corridor caught her attention next. With a charming smile, she pressed a voice modulator to her lips.
