Two full days of walking through the ruins of civilization. Two complete rotations of the sun marked by cracked highways, abandoned vehicles rusting in the elements, and the occasional distant monster roar that sent them diving into defensive positions behind whatever cover they could find.
Nox's feet hurt despite his enhanced stamina, the constant walking wearing down even his improved constitution over the long hours. Serian walked beside him looking barely winded at all, her elven endurance making the brutal pace seem almost trivial to her.
"Your endurance is quite impressive for a human," she commented as they crested another low hill, the road stretching out ahead of them toward the horizon. "Most of your kind would have collapsed from exhaustion long before now."
"Training helps," he replied shortly. "Getting stronger every day. Leveling up. Pushing limits."
"Still, most humans would have demanded rest hours ago. Your stubbornness is remarkable."
"I'm not most humans."
