Nox found the ambulance stopped halfway through a street that had become two streets. Its front wheels rested on the original hospital road, while its rear wheels sat on a second strip of pavement that slanted through the wall of an office block.
The driver had both hands on the wheel and did not move. A medic held a patient against the gurney inside, staring at a gray parcel number that floated above the ambulance roof.
"Stay where you are," Nox said through the cracked window. "Do not follow any new sign until we mark the ground."
The driver swallowed and nodded. Behind the ambulance, a second building leaned across the road without falling, its lower windows still full of people who had been having breakfast before the map decided their address belonged somewhere else.
