Reading the System's description, Ye Chen was beyond ecstatic. Without hesitation, he retrieved the item from his System Inventory—a space that could only store System-generated items.
In the next moment, a plain-looking pair of red-framed glasses appeared in his right hand. The only notable detail was the wind-shaped ornament jutting from the sides of each lens, giving it a subtle flair.
This item wasn't just valuable because of its function, it was the classification that truly excited him.
Gale-Force Reading Glasses – 64x (Douluo Version) was categorized as a Soul Tool by the System. Which meant it could be replicated using the continent's existing Soul Tool technology.
Ye Chen had already decided to walk the path of a Soul Engineer for various reasons. And now, even before he had taken his first formal step on that path, he had acquired a unique, high-performance Soul Tool; one that didn't exist anywhere else in the world.
If he could analyze and eventually craft simplified versions of it in the future, he'd undoubtedly make a fortune. And that mattered a lot. Some of his long-term plans required a staggering amount of resources, and relying on the Sect to fund everything didn't sit well with him.
He took a deep breath and set those thoughts aside for now, leaving them to his future self.
Instead, he opened the Diary once more and began writing about the rewards he had just received, filling in the entries for the next day.
[I can't believe my luck. Today's System reward included a small increase in Soul Power, but more importantly, an item that could be a game-changer for me.]

Ye Chen closed the Diary and stored the glasses back in the System's Inventory before going to sleep.
Meanwhile, the Diary Copy Holders were busy digesting the newly updated content. Among them, the younger cultivators were especially amazed. They had to study tons of materials related to cultivation if they wanted to become powerful Soul Masters or Soul Engineers. The thought of owning even an inferior version of the Gale-Force Reading Glasses sparked hope. For them, such an invention could mean freedom from hours spent poring over boring texts.
All of them collectively wished for the same thing: Ye Chen needed to replicate and market this Soul Tool. The sooner, the better.
Soon, it was the next day.
Ye Chen spent the entire day in a secluded corner of the library, putting his Gale-Force Reading Glasses to good use. With its help, he devoured a staggering number of books in record time. Books that were going to be of some assistance once he used the Enlightenment Card to create his own Cultivation Technique. At least Ye Chen thought so.
Every now and then, he paused to eat, update his Diary, or simply rest, careful not to push himself too far.
When midnight struck, the familiar System notification appeared:
{Ding~! Congratulations to the Host for completing today's Diary. You have received the following rewards: 0.033% Increase in Soul Power; 1,000 Gold Soul Coins.}
The rewards were nothing special, however, Ye Chen had anticipated this somewhat, so he wasn't disappointed. On the contrary, he was excited as the moment he was waiting for was finally here.
Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Ye Chen held a purple-gold card in his hands. Its back was plain, but its front bore the image of a faceless figure in a meditative pose, surrounded by a halo of shimmering golden light.
Taking several deep breaths, he steadied his emotions. With a determined glint in his eyes, Ye Chen crushed the Enlightenment Card. It disintegrated into a cascade of golden light, each fragment shimmering like starlight as it flowed into his mind.
For a few moments, everything around him faded into stillness. His breathing steadied on its own, and his thoughts, normally restless and branching, grew quiet and focused.
His consciousness entered a unique state. It wasn't exactly like meditation, nor was it like deep thought. Instead, it felt… effortless. Concepts that previously took hours to grasp came into clarity within seconds. Connections between meridian routes, energy circulation patterns, and the resonance of mental focus during cultivation appeared naturally in his mind, like pieces of a puzzle gently sliding into place.
He pulled up everything he had read about human anatomy, meridians, and the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. The vast collection of memorized knowledge no longer felt like raw data. Instead, it was as if a guiding hand was helping him reorganize and restructure it all into something cohesive, something profound and powerful.
He experimented mentally with different Soul Power circulation routes, trying to find the one that best suited his needs, then refining it even further. Every flawed path felt obvious in this state, instantly discarded. Every improvement sparked a ripple of progress.
Time passed quickly, and soon enough, the golden glow around his head faded, and his mind returned to normal. Ye Chen opened his eyes with a long exhale.
"…It's done," he murmured to himself, his lips stretching into a wide grin.
