Chapter 9 – The Night of Encounters and Shadows
Bela and Dante arriving home, they then enter and are greeted by Charlie who asked how school was for Bela. Dante looks at his father trying to interact with his sister but failing miserably. After a
conversation, they are at the dinner table. His mother Sera starts talking to lighten the mood at the dinner table. After dinner, Dante goes to his room. He sees that everyone is asleep. He then teleports to New York. Walking through the streets,
Dante wonders what was the name of the bar they used to go to. He thinks for a bit and remembers the name: MacLaren's Pub. Dante then imagines the image of the bar from the show and tries to teleport there. He then appears in an alley near the bar.
He then sees the sign reading MacLaren's Pub and enters the bar. Looking at the bar just like the series, Dante thinks, Who would imagine I'd be here? he says with a smile. Suddenly he is interrupted by an argument. He looks to the side and sees Marshall,
Lily, and Ted arguing with three guys. Dante looks at that and realizes they are vampires. Dante then approaches when he sees they want to take Ted, Marshall, and Lily outside.
Joe: "Look, if you guys are also upset about us taking your spot, why don't we go outside and settle things like men?"
Ted: "Maybe we should, right Marshall?"
Marshall: "Ted, you know I don't like to fight."
Lily: "Why don't you guys get another spot?"
Joe: "Why would we, right guys?" he says while the two vampires behind him support him.
When things are about to get heated, Dante arrives saying, "You leeches can't be a bit more civilized?"
Joe looks at Dante who just arrived and smells something strange that doesn't belong to a human and then says, "Who are you?"
Dante: "I'm just a guy passing by," but he then approaches the vampire and puts a hand on his shoulder while starting to squeeze it, causing the vampire to make a face of pain. Dante then looks at the vampire with his dragon eyes and whispers in his ear, "You better grab your cheerleaders and get out of here. After all, as vampires, you can live forever. It would be a shame to have to die today, right?"
The vampire feels a monstrous pressure looking at him, and a wrong move could mean death. He then apologizes to Marshall, Ted, and Lily and quickly leaves the bar taking his two companions. Dante watches that and then turns to Lily, Marshall, and Ted and introduces himself.
Dante: "Nice to meet you. My name is Dante."
Ted then shakes his hand while introducing himself, followed by Marshall and Lily. They then invite Dante to sit and drink with them as a thank you. They sit and start talking. Dante then asks what they do for a living.
Meanwhile, on the other side in New York, Margaret at the publishing house was working late with her assistant Andrew. Margaret, while correcting the documents, kept thinking about Dante more and more after separating from him to process what had happened. The bond with Dante only grew stronger. She is then interrupted from her daydream by her assistant Andrew.
Andrew: "Margaret, I've already finished my part. Have you finished yours?"
Margaret: "Yes, I'm done too. That's it for today."
They then start leaving the publishing house. They say goodbye. Margaret thinks while going home, I need to talk to Dante about our relationship, how it's going to be. She suddenly looks at a weird man standing in front of her. The man looks at her and says:
"What do we have here? You have a very strange smell on you, but I'm sure you're human. So what are you?"
The man then starts to approach her. Margaret looks at that and realizes he's not a human being. She then remembers what Dante said: If you're in danger, just call my name. She then thinks strongly while calling Dante's name.
At the bar, Dante who was befriending the trio of friends hears Margaret's voice calling for help. He then gets up and says to the three, "Sorry, I have to go now. I have to find my girlfriend, but I'll come back another time so we can keep talking."
He then says goodbye and leaves the bar.
Ted: "I liked him. And you guys?"
Lily: "He's a cool guy. And he has a girlfriend. That means I can befriend his girlfriend if we become friends."
Marshall: "I think he's a good guy. Let's give him a chance."
Ted: "Then it's decided. Let's give Dante a chance to join the group."
The vampire approaches Margaret while extending his hand to grab her and says:
"Where's your companion?"
Suddenly he feels pain. He looks down. A black claw emanating dark energy has come out of his chest. He can only turn his head and see golden dragon eyes before the dark energy consumes his entire body.
After killing the annoying insect, Dante approaches Margaret who throws herself into his arms. Dante then holds her tightly while calming her.
Dante: "I'm here now."
Margaret: "I was so scared."
Dante: "It's over now. Do you want me to take you home?"
Margaret: "Yes."
Dante then holds her hand and teleports to the front of her house. Margaret then looks at the house and asks:
"Don't you want to come in?"
Dante understands the signal, then picks her up in his arms and takes her to her room. They then take off their clothes and enjoy a wild night.
After the sex, Margaret lies on Dante's chest while sleeping. Dante looks at her on his chest sleeping. He then hugs her and falls asleep too.
