Chapter 156 - Chapter 156: Big Mom Anger

Arima and Tsunade appeared at the borders of Wano Country, a location long since marked by Arima's Wood Clone using the Flying Thunder God technique.

They arrived in an uninhabited area and immediately changed into samurai attire. Arima transformed into Jiraiya, while Tsunade took on the form of Orochimaru.

"Arima, why is Wano Country so poor? Everyone looks like they're starving to death. And the air… it seems full of toxins."

The lives of the common people here were miserable beyond words, hunger and death everywhere. Tsunade's first impression of Wano was utterly dreadful.

"See those factories spewing thick smoke? Those are Kaido's weapon factories."

Arima's clones had infiltrated them earlier and gathered plenty of intelligence.

"Kaido's already conquered Wano, why does he still need to produce weapons? Is he preparing to fight the Marines?"

"No. The weapons he manufactures are sold worldwide by Doflamingo. It's one of the main reasons why wars never stop breaking out."

After compiling intelligence gathered from his clones across the seas, Arima finally uncovered the secret behind Kaido's empire. This time, he intended to wipe it all out completely.

He continued, "This place is quite different from the others. There's no outer coastline, so it's almost impossible for the Marines to invade."

Tsunade nodded. "Wano has always been an isolationist country. Robin told me once, the Poneglyphs were crafted by Wano's ancient artisans."

As they walked, they saw countless gaunt, malnourished faces.

"This is just the outer region. The Flower Capital is where all the wealth and beauty are concentrated," Arima explained as they walked.

"Arima, I heard this place has samurai, ninja, and courtesans. It's kind of like our ninja world!"

Tsunade, wearing Orochimaru's face, spoke in such a gentle tone that Arima couldn't even bear to look at her directly.

"Heh, stupid Jiraiya, come on, give me a kiss!"

Before she could lean in, Arima's patience snapped. He caught her by the waist, slung her over his shoulder, and strode off toward the capital, ignoring her flailing protests.

After struggling fruitlessly for a while, Tsunade came up with a devious idea.

She transformed into her teenage form and obediently clung to Arima's back.

Seeing that she had finally calmed down, Arima loosened his hold and let out a quiet sigh of relief. With Tsunade still looking like Orochimaru, it had been… more than he could handle.

When they reached Oden Castle, they found nothing but ruins, scorched walls and broken beams everywhere.

"Once, Wano was a land of prosperity and peace. Now it's hell on earth… how fickle fate can be."

Arima ran his hand across a charred pillar, his voice full of sorrow.

"Arima, things like this can't always be avoided. In the ninja world, it took over a decade for the Alliance to find stability.

If word ever got out that you've disappeared, that balance would crumble overnight. The world would just fall back into its old ways."

"There's no helping it. It's always easier to destroy than to build."

"So when are we going back to the ninja world?"

"Soon."

As they spoke, they drew nearer to the Flower Capital. Civilization and prosperity gradually replaced the bleakness of the outskirts.

When they arrived at the main street, it was so crowded they could barely move.

After asking around, they learned it was the day the famed courtesan Komurasaki was making her public appearance.

"Arima! A courtesan parade! I wanna see! Mmm… these grilled dumplings… they're so good~!"

Tsunade sat on Arima's shoulders, a skewer of charcoal-grilled dango in one hand and a bottle of celestial wine from the Celestial Dragons' tribute in the other, completely absorbed in her fun.

Arima held her steady with one hand while carrying a bag of snacks in the other.

Watching her laugh and eat reminded him of the old days, when Tsunade hadn't even started school yet, and would always beg him to take her shopping.

Noticing his distant look, Tsunade rested her chin on his head and asked softly, "Arima, what are you thinking about?"

"I was just remembering when I used to carry you around town. You were mischievous, and the moment you saw a casino, your legs would freeze in place."

"Hehe, I don't remember much from back then, but I do remember that Arima really loved me."

With a smile, little Tsunade leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.

After playing around for a bit, they headed toward the shogun's mansion.

Arima had originally planned to head for Onigashima first, but since Orochi was hosting a banquet for Komurasaki, he decided to bring Tsunade along to join the festivities.

While Arima and Tsunade were enjoying themselves in the Flower Capital, one of his Wood Clones had already returned to Dressrosa with Kushina.

The moment she arrived at the palace, Kushina couldn't help showing off. "Grandma, look! I can fly now! I'm a Float-Float Fruit user!"

Mito stroked her granddaughter's red hair with a fond smile. "That's wonderful! Now my little Kushina can contribute even more to Konoha's strength."

"Grandma, when are the enemies coming?"

"Likely tomorrow morning. The first wave should arrive by then."

"Good! That gives me time to practice. I've never tried lifting an entire island before!"

Mito chuckled, then sniffed the air curiously. "By the way, Kushina, where did you two go just now? You smell… sweet."

"Hehe, we went to Totto Land! It's full of cakes and candy, there's even rivers of hot cocoa!"

Kushina animatedly recounted her adventure, gesturing excitedly as she spoke.

"I see. In that case, Big Mom's revenge will likely come tonight. Go on, lift Green Bit into the sky for now. Once we're done here, you can come back. I need to get ready myself."

Before Kushina could respond, Mito had already arranged everything for her.

"Alright then, Grandma, I'm off!"

Like a busy little bee, Kushina took to the skies and flew northward.

When her figure finally disappeared beyond the horizon, Mito placed a hand over her abdomen and murmured, "Alright, big fox, this time, don't embarrass me."

"Tch, you nag too much. As if I'd let a bunch of weaklings humiliate me," the Nine-Tails grumbled from within the seal.

Totto Land was the closest kingdom to Dressrosa, so the Big Mom Pirates would be the first to arrive.

At that moment, aboard the Queen Mama Chanter, Big Mom was happily feasting on sweets and pastries.

This time, she had dispatched her elite forces, leaving only Perospero and Katakuri behind to guard Totto Land.

No matter how strong a tiger, it can't stand against a pack of wolves, especially when Charlotte Linlin herself was leading the charge.

Kaido's fleet was also following close behind. She had no doubt this operation would succeed.

"Ma-ma-ma! The Celestial Dragons' treasure will be mine! Ma-ma-ma-ha-ha!"

But before her laughter faded, a Den Den Mushi began to ring urgently, shattering her good mood.

"Ma-ma-ma! Perospero, what is it now?"

Linlin's voice was edged with irritation.

"Mom… it's terrible news. Arima, he's… he's kidnapped Brother Mont-d'Or! And Whole Cake Island has been completely destroyed!"

Perospero's trembling voice carried through the line like a death sentence.

"What?!"

Linlin's face twisted with fury, her body shaking uncontrollably. Mont-d'Or's library had held every treasure she'd collected over decades!

Her eyes burned crimson as she roared, "Arima!!!"

Then, with a thunderous leap from the deck, she soared into the sky riding her thundercloud Zeus, with the sun Prometheus and the sword-hat Napoleon at her side, charging straight toward Dressrosa at terrifying speed.
