The sun rose softly over Arendelle, its light casting golden hues across the calm, glistening waters. The storm had passed. The dam was gone. The kingdom had been saved.
And for one more day, Ethan stayed.
He didn't tell them.
Not Elsa.
Not Anna.
Not even Olaf, who had started to notice Ethan's distant glances and quiet moments of thought.
He just smiled.
Because today wasn't about goodbyes.
It was about memories.
The morning began on the castle balcony. Ethan stood beside Elsa, her silvery-blonde hair gently swaying in the breeze. She closed her eyes, listening to the quietness that followed after so many days of chaos.
"I never thought it would feel so peaceful again," Elsa said softly.
Ethan turned to her. "You deserve peace."
Elsa looked at him with a fondness she no longer tried to hide. "So do you."
They stood in silence for a while, her hand slowly reaching out to intertwine with his. When she finally rested her head on his shoulder, he closed his eyes and simply held her there—savoring every second.
Later that day, Ethan joined Anna in the royal gardens. She was barefoot, dancing through the soft grass with Olaf beside her, laughing freely. The sunflowers had started to bloom again, and the scent of spring filled the air.
When she spotted Ethan, she ran toward him without hesitation.
"Dance with me!" Anna exclaimed, grabbing his hand and spinning.
He laughed as they twirled together, her reddish braids bouncing, her cheeks flushed. She was radiant, truly happy.
As their steps slowed, Anna's hands remained on his chest, her voice quiet. "You're different now."
Ethan blinked. "Different how?"
"I don't know… more at peace, maybe. But there's also something else. Something in your eyes—like you're carrying something heavy, but still trying to protect everyone from it."
Ethan didn't answer. He just looked at her with gentle affection and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
She smiled anyway, letting it go. "Well… whatever it is, I'm glad you're here. You've given us more than you realize."
As the sun moved higher, Ethan spent time with Olaf and Sven near the stables. Olaf asked a dozen questions—about stars, portals, and whether carrots would grow better if you sang to them.
Kristoff chimed in with jokes, and the group ended up building a mini snow fort together, despite the summer heat.
They laughed like children. No war. No fate. No prophecy. Just friends.
Evening came slowly, the sky painted with streaks of violet and rose.
Inside the castle dining hall, the table was filled with food and candles. Anna sat to Ethan's left, Elsa to his right. Everyone talked, reminisced, celebrated.
But to Ethan, each second ticked louder in his heart.
He hadn't told them.
Not yet.
Maybe not ever.
Because how could he?
How could he say goodbye?
When the stars finally bloomed in the sky, Ethan stood at the edge of the castle balcony once again. This time, alone.
The cool wind brushed against his coat as he stared at the sea, hands resting on the stone railing. In the distance, he could see the faint shimmer of the spirits dancing in Ahtohallan.
"Still awake?" Elsa's voice drifted softly behind him.
He turned. She wore a pale blue cloak over her dress, her silver hair flowing like moonlight.
"I couldn't sleep," he said.
"Neither could I." Elsa stepped beside him. "It feels like the end of something."
Ethan smiled faintly. "Or the beginning."
Elsa looked at him, eyes searching. "Will you stay? Even just for a while?"
Ethan didn't answer. He stepped closer, brushing her cheek gently with his hand.
"I'll always be with you, Elsa. No matter where I am."
She leaned into his touch, eyes misty. "I love you, Ethan."
He kissed her. Tender, slow, with the weight of everything he couldn't say. It said what words couldn't.
And somewhere in the castle, Anna watched from the hallway—quietly smiling, wiping a single tear.
That night, as the castle slumbered in peace and starlight, Ethan returned to his room.
He looked around slowly, as if memorizing every detail. His heart ached—but it was also full.
He knelt beside his bed and whispered, "Just a little more time…"
