The Colosseum's cheers began to die down as Rina Vale of the Demeter Familia stepped forward. Her light-green hair shimmered in the sunlight, the symbol of her goddess engraved upon her armor's shoulder. She twirled her staff once, her expression calm but resolute.

"I'm sorry for what happened to you earlier," she said, her voice clear despite the crowd. "It's a shame that some Familias chose cowardice over honor to win. Still… that won't change anything here. Falna or not, I'll be fighting you with everything I've got."

Damien smirked as his twin daggers appeared in his hands, their black blades gleaming faintly. The audience gasped — the rule had changed. From this round onward, real weapons were permitted.

"I wouldn't have it any other way," he replied, adjusting his stance. "But I'll apologize in advance for what's about to happen. I've got something to prove too."

The moment Ganesha's booming voice thundered—

"START!"

—the air exploded with movement.

Rina's staff glowed bright blue as she unleashed a volley of water magic, streams twisting like serpents through the air. But before anyone could even blink—

Damien was gone.

A gust of wind swept past her. Rina's eyes widened—then pain exploded in the back of her head.

Crack!

Damien's boot connected cleanly, sending her collapsing to the ground. Silence fell over the entire Colosseum.

For a heartbeat, no one spoke. No one even breathed.

Then Damien straightened, calmly sheathing his daggers as if nothing had happened. His steps were slow, steady, deliberate as he turned to leave the arena.

And then—

The crowd erupted.

"DAMIEN! DAMIEN! DAMIEN!"

The chant grew louder and louder, shaking the stone stands as thousands of voices shouted his name.

Ganesha's laughter boomed through the air."WONDERFUL! Unbelievable! The falna-less rookie, Damien Ardent, has defeated Rina Vale of the Demeter Familia — a Level Two Adventurer — in a single instant! Absolutely magnificent! Though I must say… perhaps next time, our young hero could make it last more than five seconds?"

The crowd burst into laughter and cheers, completely swept away by the spectacle.

As Damien left the field, the following matches commenced in rapid succession:

Goro "Ironjaw" of the Ganesha Familia crushed his opponent, Aldric of Takemikazuchi Familia, after a brutal exchange of blows.

Selka from Miach Familia shocked everyone by defeating Taku, one of the top tournament favorites.

Vila of Demeter Familia avenged her fallen friend Rina with a dazzling victory against Jiro of Takemikazuchi Familia.

Kaleen from Hermes Familia displayed elegance and precision, overwhelming her opponent in flawless form.

And finally, Adi Varma of Ganesha Familia made quick work of Rugha, an independent adventurer like Damien — leaving Damien as the last remaining independent in the tournament.

The irony wasn't lost on the audience.

A competition meant to give unaffiliated adventurers a chance… and now, only one stood tall.

With the matches of Bracket A concluded, the announcer called for a twenty-minute intermission before the start of Bracket B.

The crowd's excitement didn't fade. If anything—it burned brighter. Everyone wanted to see the falna-less warrior fight again.

.....

After the intermission, Bracket B began, and the arena once again filled with the roar of tens of thousands.

The first to make a statement was Larra Ennis of the Dian Cecht Familia, who quickly gained attention by dismantling Korin of the Ganesha Familia with surgical precision — a healer turned fighter, striking with calm fury and control.

However, Nate of the Ganesha Familia halted that momentum immediately, defeating Roux of Dian Cecht Familia with brute strength and speed that left no room for resistance.

Finnel from the Hermes Familia carried on her Familia's reputation for elegance and strategy, besting Mina Argo of Demeter Familia in a duel of quick wits and quicker blades.

Then came Tirn Fal of Ganesha Familia, whose raw power crushed Aisden of Apollo Familia — his hammer strikes resounding like thunder.

Lastly, Lio Verden of the Miach Familia stunned everyone by defeating Daska, one of the host family's members

The audience cheered wildly, but for Damien… his focus narrowed as the next names were announced.

"NEXT! WELF CROZZO of the Hephaestus Familia… versus NOGA of the Freya Familia!"

The roar of the crowd shifted — from excitement to unease.

Noga's reputation had spread quickly. Even among Level Threes, he was known for his ruthlessness. A warrior with sadistic glee in his eyes, born under Freya's blessing, and carrying the arrogance of one who believed himself untouchable.

Welf stepped into the arena, his red hair catching the light, a custom-forged sword resting over his shoulder. He was only a Level One, yet his jaw was set firm, his grip steady. He glanced toward the stands — and found Damien watching him closely.

That was enough.

He raised his sword in salute, then faced his towering opponent.

"START!"

The moment Ganesha's voice echoed, Welf charged forward with a battle cry. He didn't hesitate, didn't flinch, didn't care about the difference in strength.

His first swing blazed with fire magic, the blade cutting a trail of red light through the air—

—but Noga sidestepped effortlessly.

"Too slow," Noga said coldly, his voice filled with mockery. His knee crashed into Welf's gut, sending him sprawling backward.

Welf rolled, coughing, but got back up. He swung again, and again—each strike carrying more desperation than the last.

Noga blocked them lazily, his expression amused. "You really thought you had a chance?"

Then he grabbed Welf by the wrist—crack!

A scream tore through the arena as Welf's arm twisted unnaturally. His sword clattered to the ground.

The audience gasped, several gods standing up in protest.

But Noga wasn't done. He kneed Welf in the face, kicked his ribs, slammed his head into the dirt — again and again — until even the announcers fell silent.

"Stop the match!!" a voice from the stands shouted, but Ganesha's gaze was grim; his divine aura kept the barrier strong.

Noga finally let go, throwing Welf's limp body aside like discarded prey. He looked toward the crowd with a wide grin.

"This is what happens to weaklings who waste my time," he said, voice echoing through the arena. "And I promise…"

His eyes gleamed with madness as he licked the blood from his knuckles.

"I'll do the same — to every single opponent I face."

The silence that followed was suffocating. Even the gods frowned from their balconies.

Up in the waiting room, Damien's fists tightened. His nails dug into his palms, jaw clenching so hard it hurt.

Welf's broken arm hung limp as healers rushed in to carry him away. Damien's gaze never left Noga — that smile, that arrogance.

For the first time that day, Damien wasn't just fired up to win.

He was angry.
