"Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno—Sky Assault!"
Logan wasted no time. His command rang out like thunder, and instantly, the three Legendary Birds descended from above. Their wings blurred, their forms leaving countless afterimages as they dove. Beaks sharper than steel hammered down like machine guns, tearing through the air. Even the atmosphere itself split into piercing shockwaves, shredding the stone battle platform beneath their talons into a cracked, ruined mess.
"Ahhhhhh—!"
The attack was aimed at Green's Jigglypuff, but under Logan's deliberate control, the birds drew closer and closer to Green herself. The screech of wind and the burning gaze of the three godly predators fell upon her all at once. Her entire body trembled, and the only thing she could do was scream.
"J-Jigglypuff, use Tri-Attack!"
Green collapsed on the command stand, hugging her head, her voice quivering in panic.
Around Jigglypuff, a shimmering triangular barrier of energy materialized. From its apex shot a radiant blast, the combined power of fire, ice, and lightning. Tri-Attack—a skill so rare that only a handful of Pokémon in the world could wield it. If it struck, it could burn, freeze, or paralyze its victim.
But Green wasn't even looking at the battlefield. Her command was blind, desperate. Jigglypuff's Tri-Attack flared upward into the sky, completely missing its mark. The three Legendary Birds tilted their wings with a casual grace, dodging the attack as if mocking the attempt.
"HAHAHA!" Logan's laugh boomed across the arena, echoing through the microphone. His hands were buried in his pockets, his smile sharp and merciless. "Green, what are you even doing? This isn't the preliminaries—you're not limited to one Pokémon. I've already sent out three at once! If you don't release the rest of your team, I'll just crush them one by one."
The audience did not scorn Logan for his ruthless laughter. No—his cruelty only magnified the tension, the spectacle. Instead, the scorn was turned on Green.
"What's that little girl doing?"
"Why isn't she sending out more Pokémon? Did the sight of Legends freeze her up?"
"She can't even look at the field. Just crouching there, shaking… even rookie trainers fight better than this!"
"She's like a child playing pretend. How did she even pass the preliminaries?"
"Her Pokémon are pitiful—just standing there to be beaten! That Jigglypuff is finished!"
"Cowards don't deserve to be trainers!"
The roar of hateful voices washed over Green like a tidal wave. The girl trembled harder, tears spilling from the corners of her eyes like glistening pearls.
Those who had once been defeated by her now felt only disgust. The once-smug girl who had beaten them—reduced to this pitiful sight? They burned with shame that they had ever lost to her.
"…Still won't move?" Logan's voice was ice. "Fine. Then let me show you what a real Tri-Attack looks like!"
"Zapdos—Thunderbolt! Articuno—Ice Beam! Moltres—Flamethrower!"
The air split apart. From the heavens fell lightning bright enough to blind, a freezing beam that could encase mountains in eternal frost, and fire so fierce it devoured the very sky. Together, their powers merged into a chaotic storm of destruction.
The detonation shook the world. The arena floor exploded into a massive crater, stone scattering in every direction.
A wave of elemental energy blasted outward like a storm surge. If not for the hundreds of Psychic-type Pokémon straining to erect protective barriers of Light Screen around the audience, countless spectators would have been burned, frozen, or killed on the spot.
"Jigglypuff!!!"
The pink Pokémon shrieked as it was launched high into the air. Its round body spun helplessly, smoking, blackened by fire and ice. Its flesh was seared in some places, frozen in others—an ugly patchwork of burns and frostbite.
"Green's Jigglypuff has suffered catastrophic damage!" the announcer cried, panic rising in his voice. "Even though the tournament forbids killing an opponent's Pokémon, if she doesn't recall it right now, the injuries will become permanent!"
At last, Green stirred. Pale as a ghost, stumbling like a drunk, she pulled out a Poké Ball with trembling fingers and recalled her Jigglypuff.
Above, the three Legendary Birds circled, shrieking with pleasure. Green, on the other hand, remained frozen on the command stand.
Logan's patience snapped. "Still won't send out another? Tch. Then—"
He raised one hand and pointed at her. His gesture was death itself.
The three Birds screamed, diving downward. Thunder crashed around Green's platform, enclosing her in a cage of lightning. Articuno's icy breath froze the platform solid, and Moltres's flames engulfed it in a blazing inferno.
The crowd gasped. Green was not physically harmed—Logan hadn't broken the rules by attacking a trainer directly. But her platform had become a playground of apocalypse, an inferno of fire, frost, and storm. Everything around her was reduced to rubble, her entire half of the arena a wasteland of chaos.
The battlefield itself now resembled Hell's Gate—lightning writhing like snakes, fire burning like a pillar, and ice howling in cruel winds. Green stood trapped in the eye of the storm, trembling like a child lost in the dark.
"Papa… Mama…"
Her voice cracked, barely audible through the microphone. The weak, tearful cry silenced the arena in a way no explosion could.
Some spectators flinched, pity stirring in their hearts. But they quickly steeled themselves. This was a battlefield. Trainers chose this path knowing the risks. A crying child had no place here.
On the trainer's balcony, however, Sabrina and Erika wore faint, cruel smiles. To them, seeing Green humiliated like this was a delight. Sabrina, who had once been so angered by Green she'd nearly killed her, silently wished Logan would drop all pretense and let his Birds annihilate the girl outright.
She even found herself standing up in excitement, before realizing Erika beside her had done the same. Their eyes met for a moment—then, wordlessly, they sat back down.
"Blastoise—Hydro Pump!"
Finally, through tears and shaking limbs, Green released another Pokémon. Her Blastoise roared, unleashing a torrent of pressurized water.
But everyone knew—it was pointless. The battlefield was the Legendary Birds' domain. No matter what Green summoned, her Pokémon would immediately be swallowed by the storm of fire, lightning, and ice. Only something of Mewtwo's caliber could stand.
Yet Blastoise still launched its desperate attack.
Logan smirked, almost pleased. "Good. That's more like it. Cry, scream, then kneel and beg for mercy!"
He prepared to issue the finishing command—when his eyes widened.
Because Blastoise's Hydro Pump wasn't aimed at his Birds at all.
It was aimed directly across the arena—straight at him.
"…What the—?! She's lost her mind? She's actually trying to kill me?!"
