Kenji's POV:
"You scared the living shit out of me man! You nearly gave me a heart attack!" I said as I finally began to calm down.
"Oh, come on! It can't have been that bad!"
While in the middle of having my toenails removed, a bunch of prison guards came running around the corner, screaming about ghosts and dragged away the guy torturing me this whatever the time of day or night is. Then suddenly, creeping around the corner with a big scary black scythe, blood running down his face, and missing both his legs, came my senior disciple Alex, who had come to rescue me, while looking like something straight out of a ghost story.
At first, I didn't quite recognize him and kicked him in the face as he approached me. I then apologized once I realized who he was, and then these purple strings suddenly appeared which if not for my senior saving my ass would have turned me into one of those unfortunate guards.
"Good. Thanks for carrying me by the way! My flight spell needs to be recalibrated to work with my current body weight."
"No worries! Now that I'm a nascent soul, you're as light as a feather!" I replied.
I am currently carrying senior on my back while heading in the direction where I saw Shinji and Aiko being taken away after they locked me in that cell. Most of this underground prison seems to be one long and winding corridor with prison cells and torture equipment lining the walls.
"I think I can sense Shinji up ahead, but I still can't see Aiko." I said.
"Good. Sorry, I couldn't help you guys sooner. I must seem like a pretty pathetic senior." Senior Alex said depressingly.
"What are you talkin about? I'm the one who should apologize! The only reason we are in this mess is because I messed up and got caught. If not for me, you wouldn't have had to blow your cover and sacrificed your legs to save our asses!"
"Well, actually I uhm! *mumbling*"
"Hm? What was tha-!" I said, turning my head to look at my senior, almost dropping him in surprise as I had somehow forgotten about his scary blood-soaked face.
However, seeing his face as he mumbled incoherently something about fat people, I suddenly got an idea.
"Hey, senior, my arms, uh, yeah my arms are gettin a bit tired! Could you maybe wal-, go the last couple of meters yourself!"
Shinji had tried to play it cool back then, but I'm pretty sure he's afraid of ghosts too, and this might be my one and only chance to get some revenge on him for all the pranks he and his little fairy buddies played on me in the past. Like when he practiced mind control on me and had me walking around acting like a chicken in public. Or the time they put glue on my chair and I ripped my pants.
"Didn't you say I was as light as a feather?"
"Uh, no! I think you must be hearing things! That's right, didn't you say you had a concussion earlier."
"Really, cause to me it sounds more like you just want to prank Shinji!"
"…!"
"There are a time and a place for everything you know!"
"I understand!" I said, feeling a little down.
"And that time is now!"
"Really?" I asked in surprise, hoping this wasn't some sort of joke.
"Yeah, why not. It's not like we are in that much of a hurry anyways! The strings can only come from one direction since there is only one exit so as long as I put up an extra firewall or two, we should have time for a quick prank!"
"You're really going to do it?" I asked again.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?"
"It's just, you seemed a bit too much of a goody two shoes to go along with something like this!"
"Really? Well, I guess maybe if you compare me to master and uncle, but they mess with everybody! Actually, now that I think about it, I'm usually the one getting messed with, aren't I?" Senior Alex mumbled as I placed him down on the ground.
As he started mumbling something about taking revenge, he got this scary look in his eye that just looked perfect with the horror monster look he had going on as he crawled along the ground towards Shinji's jail cell. I saw him stabbing the scary looking scythe into the ground and use it to pull himself forward as he moved in front of Shinji's view, which was followed by a…
*High-pitched scream*
I know our lives are kind of in danger right now, but this was still worth it.
…
Shinji's POV:
"HAHAHAHA!"
"Pft! Hahaha!"
"DAMN IT! THAT'S NOT FUNNY!"
"Hehe! Sorry, sorry! We couldn't help ourselves!"
"Pft! You should have seen your face man! And that scream, you sounded like a little girl! Pft, HAHAHAHA!"
"DAMN IT! SHUT UP AND GET ME OUT OF THESE CHAINS!"
Apparently, Kenji and my senior thought it would be funny to give me a heart attack, and I mean that literally. If not for little thunder restarting my heart, I would be dead right now.
"*Chuckle* Okay! Enough fooling around!" My senior said, much to my relief.
"Finally! I don't know where any of the keys are, but I think you could pick them using-! Wait, what are you doing with that scythe?! WAIT!!!" I shouted as my senior shakily raised that ominous black scythe.
*Swoosh**Clang*
Much to my relief the scythe did not cut me, even if it got uncomfortably close while slicing through the chains as if they were made of butter.
"Couldn't you have just picked the lock?! You nearly gave me another heart attaaaAAAH! HOT, HOT, HOT! STOP IT, YOU IDIOT! YOU'RE GONNA BURN OFF MY HAND!!" I complained, as Kenji suddenly grabbed the metal ball restraint encompassing my hand and tried to melt it off.
After the last couple of failed escape attempts, they had increased the difficulty by chaining me up with multiple different locks and chains. Additionally, my hands and feet have been encased in metal balls to prevent me from even trying to pick them.
"Sorry! I thought you'd be fine since you got a fire spirit on you!"
"LITTLE THUNDER IS A MID GRADE SPRIGGAN! SHE CAN'T EASILY CONTROLL THE FIRE ELEMENT IF IT'S ALREADY BEING CONTROLLED! YOUR WILLPOWER GETS IN THE WAY! I'VE TOLD YOU THIS!"
"Oh right! Sorry, I forgot!"
"JUST PICK THE DAMN LOCK!" I screamed.
"Sorry, but we can't!" Alex said.
"What?!"
"Kenji melted the lock!"
"THEN JUST PICK THE OTHER ONES! Geeze!"
"Sorry, but we don't have the time for that!"
"Wh-?"
Before I had the time to ask, a purple string of light suddenly came flying around the corner, bolting straight for my senior, only for him to swing his scythe, sending a blaze of green that created a wall of fire that burned it.
*Sizzle*
"Because that!" He said.
"And what was that exactly?"
"Look! We don't have a lot of time before they break through!"
"I wonder why?" I said sarcastically.
"Sorry!"
"You should be sorry! Don't waste precious time on silly pranks when we're in danger!"
"No, that's not what I'm apologizing for! Kenji!" My senior said, signaling to Kenji.
"On it!" Kenji replied as he grabbed my hand again.
"Wait! NoaaaAAAAh!" I screamed as Kenji began burning off my restraints.
