Nick moved over me with a kind of hunger that wasn't just physical; it was emotional, soul-level, like he needed to hold me so close that even breathing felt shared. I was his oxygen, and he is mine. His forehead pressed against mine, our noses brushing, our breaths tangling in the tiny space between our lips.
"Baby…" he whispered, and something in his voice cracked open.
My chest tightened, not from desire or not just desire, but from the overwhelming way he loved me. The way he held me like losing me would destroy him. The way he touched me was like I was something sacred.
