While Rimuru, Shirou Emiya, and Veldora were communicating, Milim did not continue her attack.
Clearly, her attention had shifted.
Veldora had appeared.
And to Milim, that alone was enough to spark interest.
After all, Veldora was a genuine battle maniac.
Fighting Rimuru and Shirou Emiya was enjoyable.
But fighting Veldora?
That was on a completely different level.
So when Rimuru told Veldora to deal with her, Milim showed no displeasure at all.
If anything, she looked pleased.
...
As the battle between Milim and Veldora erupted elsewhere, Rimuru and Shirou Emiya temporarily withdrew their focus from that side of the battlefield.
They turned their attention to another area.
There, Shirou Emiya immediately noticed a familiar sight.
Little Rimuru was sitting on the ground.
And beside him-
A fox.
"Little Rimuru," Shirou Emiya asked calmly, "is that the nine-headed beast?"
"Yes, Father."
Hearing Shirou Emiya's voice, little Rimuru quickly stood up.
"This nine-headed beast was being controlled by Demon Lord Clayman using a talisman."
He spoke clearly and seriously.
"Earlier, during the battle, I heard its cries and pleas for help."
"So I used the Talisman of All Ruin to remove the control talisman and free it."
Little Rimuru looked down at the fox, then back up.
"It has joined our side now."
"Well done."
Shirou Emiya reached out and gently rubbed little Rimuru's head.
Then he looked toward Rimuru.
"It seems Clayman is naturally restrained by us."
Rimuru nodded.
"Because of his cautious nature, Clayman placed hidden restraints on his subordinates."
"Those restraints ensured obedience-but also meant they had no true loyalty to him."
"And once they encountered opponents like us, who can remove curses and control magic..."
"They turn against him one after another."
"Helping us deal with him instead."
Rimuru let out a small sigh.
"This really is retribution."
Shirou Emiya nodded as well.
There was nothing else to say about Clayman's character.
Contempt was more than justified.
"But still..."
Rimuru narrowed his eyes slightly.
"This Clayman is too weak."
"He can't even defeat Shion."
After checking on little Rimuru, the two shifted their attention to the main battlefield again.
There-
Shion was overwhelming Demon Lord Clayman.
"That's normal."
Shirou Emiya spoke calmly.
"After you awakened as a true Demon Lord, Shion and the others were elevated accordingly."
"Her current strength is already comparable to Clayman's."
He paused briefly.
"And besides, Clayman is the weakest among the Ten Great Demon Lords."
"In truth, he doesn't even possess the strength expected of a Demon Lord."
Rimuru listened.
Shirou Emiya continued.
"He merely inherited the territory of a defeated Demon Lord."
"And then relied on schemes and manipulation to control that Demon Lord's former subordinates."
"That's all."
"So that's how it is."
Rimuru nodded slowly.
"No wonder."
On the battlefield, Clayman was suffering.
Truly.
It wasn't that he couldn't fight Shion at all.
At the beginning, he had even suppressed her for a short time.
But Shion possessed an ability called Hyper Regeneration.
Her recovery speed was absurd.
So absurd that even a Demon Lord like Clayman couldn't match it.
In a prolonged battle-
Clayman was completely outclassed.
As time dragged on, his strength steadily declined.
Shion's did not.
The balance shifted.
Gradually.
Inevitably.
Until Shion began to suppress him completely.
Clayman's movements grew sluggish.
His breathing uneven.
Powerless.
"Is this all you've got?"
Shion's voice rang out, cold and merciless.
"You dare call yourself a Demon Lord with such pitiful strength?"
"You're a joke."
Her words hit harder than her blade.
"You bastard!"
Clayman roared.
"Unforgivable!"
He waved his arm violently.
"Go-Dancing Dolls!"
Five puppets were flung forward.
Midair, they expanded rapidly.
Their forms twisted and grew.
In seconds, they transformed into five high-ranking demons, rushing straight toward Shion.
These were Clayman's trump cards.
Hidden pieces.
Each puppet was formed by injecting the soul of a subordinate demon who had sworn allegiance to him.
Seeing that the battle was slipping beyond recovery, Clayman abandoned restraint.
He unleashed everything.
Five high-ranking demons descended at once.
Against most opponents, this would have been decisive.
Unfortunately-
His opponent was Shion.
Facing the charging demons, Shion raised her greatsword.
She swung once.
Just once.
The blade passed through them cleanly.
All five high-ranking demons were cut in half in a single strike.
They collapsed to the ground.
Silence followed.
"You're really boring."
Shion didn't even look impressed.
"Is this all you can do?"
She continued mocking him without pause.
Clearly, verbal pressure cost her nothing.
Throughout the battle, she was virtually unharmed.
Standing there, she radiated more authority than Clayman ever had.
"What a joke!"
Clayman shouted, veins bulging.
"The battle has only just begun!"
"My Dancing Dolls can repair themselves!"
"Don't underestimate me!"
"Is that so?"
Shion calmly sheathed her weapon.
Then she crossed her arms.
She stood there.
Waiting.
Waiting for the Dancing Dolls to regenerate.
Seconds passed.
Then more.
Nothing happened.
The five high-ranking demons lay motionless.
Not a single sign of recovery.
"And then?"
Shion tilted her head slightly.
Hearing her voice, Clayman finally snapped.
"Why?!"
He shouted.
"Why aren't they reviving?!"
"How is this possible?!"
Shion looked at him with clear disdain.
"That's because this weapon-"
She glanced at her greatsword.
"-was forged by Lord Emiya."
"It can attack the spirit directly."
"Your dolls don't have any spiritual protection."
"No soul defense."
Her voice was flat.
"Frankly, the workmanship is terrible."
"No wonder I cut them down in one strike."
"It's embarrassing."
She took a step forward.
"Are you really a Demon Lord?"
Clayman froze.
His mouth opened slightly.
But no words came out.
He stood there, completely stunned.
"Hiss..."
Rimuru couldn't help but sigh.
"Shion's ability to mock people is terrifying."
Shirou Emiya nodded faintly.
"Indeed."
"She's improving faster in that area than in raw strength."
"Didn't you teach her that?"
Rimuru asked suspiciously.
"Why do you sound surprised?"
"What are you talking about?"
Shirou Emiya frowned.
"I never taught her anything like that."
"Then she must have learned it by example."
"Don't blame everything on me."
As the two bickered quietly, Clayman launched another attack.
"So that's it..."
Clayman's eyes turned vicious.
"You're relying on that sword."
"Then I'll add that annoying sword to my collection!"
He spread his arms.
"Devour her."
"Demon Lord's Domination!"
Black, silk-like beams shot out from both his hands.
They wrapped around Shion instantly.
From head to toe.
Shion didn't move.
She didn't resist.
Seeing this, Clayman's expression relaxed.
He thought she had failed to react in time.
"Hahahaha!"
He laughed loudly.
"You should be honored."
"This is the ultimate curse!"
"It can even dominate Demon Lords!"
"Using it on a demon like you is a waste..."
"But it doesn't matter."
"I need to rebuild my forces anyway."
"Become my subordinate."
"Serve me."
Shion looked at him calmly.
"Is this your final move?"
Her voice was steady.
Then-
"That's weak."
"You don't deserve to be called a Demon Lord, Clayman."
She showed no interest at all.
After receiving Rimuru's blessing, Shion had gained Complete Memory.
With that ability, she was completely immune to mental domination.
Clayman's ultimate curse-
Was meaningless.
And that-
Was exactly why Rimuru had chosen to bring Shion.
Instead of Ranga.
