Chapter 23 - Chapter 23. The Demon King?

"Eh, where are you going? It's not heading north." Ultear said as soon as she pointed at the paw-bubble

"Huh?" Shun was confused at first then it hit him

'Damn, I was planning to go to Laguna Island… almost made a fool of myself.' Shun wiped the nonexistent sweat on his forehead and decided to just listen to Ultear's navigating

"Deliora is sealed in Brago. It's in northern part of the continent." Ultear explained

"Got it." Shun replied

'As long as it's a place I've traveled before I can teleport myself and people with 100% accuracy. However there's no way I've been anywhere close to Brago. When I return from this trip maybe I should learn that magic called archive. It had something like google maps if I'm not wrong.'

When Shun became quiet with a red face and feigned focus on reading his book. The two girls almost burst into laughter, however they managed to hold back. Otherwise he might threaten them with dinner…

——

Time passed as they chatted, read books, ate and took a nap inside the steady flying paw-bubble.

"Let's land if we see a city or village to resupply."

Shun had prepared foods and drinks. But he was completely off mark as he thought they were heading towards Laguna island. In the original which is in seven years from now. Deliora was moved to Laguna island by Ur's other disciple, Lyon Vastia.

"Yeah, it's comfortable here but I want to go outside for a bit." Sorano replied with a bored look

Ultear nodded, agreeing with their opinions.

Soon they had a dinner with premade foods from Shun's storage ring. Items stored there get frozen in time so the food was as good as newly made.

"By the way, I got news from my informant in Crocus that there is three silver haired young girls that met the description you gave." Shun said to Sorano as things became silent inside the paw-bubble

"W-What, really?!" Sorano was shocked by the sudden news

"Yes, why would I lie? Two of the candidates actually live together in a small village, so we should look into the other one. Also—" Before Shun could continue, a pair of thin arms locked around his neck in a tight chokehold.

"Mmff—" Shun feigned an act of struggle, with his observation haki almost reaching advanced level he could've easily dodged this situation. But he wasn't an idiot.

There was no need for words.

Instead he patted Sorano's head who was sobbing quietly.

Ultear just smiled at the side, sitting quietly and watching the path ahead.

——

What started as an emotional moment… still continued after half an hour. Sorano taking advantage of the situation, didn't want to separate.

Shun and Ultear were speechless at the shameless Sorano still being 'emotional'…

"Ah! I see a village!" Fortunately Ultear intercepted "Come on, Sorano! Let's take a look together." Ultear tried to pulled Sorano away.

"Ughh, let me go." Sorano tried to resist but was too fragile in front of the leader of Grimoire Hearts' Seven kin of Purgatory.

"…"

Sorano glared at Ultear as she was forced to stare at a pointless villge…

"Oh, it's actually a village. The view is decent I guess…" Sorano commented

Shun just sighed amusedly at their antics

This village was a hometown for an infamous siblings from the future Fairy Tail. Before when he was speaking he wanted to say that 'Also, the two candidates are actually living nearby.' But he was interrupted…

"Let's land there, gather our resources then rest for a bit. Since we're not in a hurry." Shun voiced his opinion, to which no one objected

——

Mirajane Strauss' life.

My name is Mirajane Strauss. My siblings, Lisanna, Elfman, and I grew up on a peaceful, idyllic farm in the countryside. We weren't wealthy or powerful, but we were happy. That happiness was shattered when illness took our parents from us at a very young age.

We mourned them deeply, but I knew, even then, that the responsibility for our little family had fallen onto my shoulders. So, I worked. Day and night, I poured everything I had into our farm. The three of us did chores together, played together, and cared for our animals. Lisanna, the gentlest of us, had a special way with the creatures, and she often smoothed over the clashes between my strong will and Elfman's. Despite everything, we managed to survive, and we even learned to smile again.

That fragile peace was broken the day we found the creature.

It was strange and badly injured, lying in a field near the woods. We had no way of knowing it was a Demon, a being from the ancient and powerful race written of in the Books of Zeref. All we saw was a suffering animal. Lisanna's heart went out to it immediately; she insisted we nurse it back to health.

But the creature was volatile, dangerous. As we approached, its fear turned to fury, and it lunged straight for Lisanna.

"Lisanna!"

In that heart-stopping moment of pure terror, something inside me awoke. A latent power I never knew I had surged to the surface. A phrase echoed in my mind—"Take Over!"—and I acted on instinct. My magic reached out, and in a flash, I absorbed the creature's very soul. I had saved my sister.

But the incident was far from over.

"Sister! What is that… your arm…" Elfman stammered, his eyes wide with fear.

I looked down. My right hand was no longer my own. It had twisted into a monstrous, demonic form, studded with terrifying purple crystals. The sight of it sent a chill through all of us, myself most of all.

Before I could even begin to understand what had happened, a man from the village emerged from the path. The demon was gone, leaving only the three of us—and my horrifying new arm.

"A demon!" he screamed, his face a mask of pure horror. He didn't wait for an explanation; he just turned and fled as if death itself was on his heels.

"Wait!" I called out, but it was useless.

Lisanna, ever the peacemaker, gently touched my good arm. "Onee-chan, let's just go inside." She offered a small, reassuring smile, and I could only nod in silent agreement.

By the next day, the rumor had already poisoned the village: a demon lived with the Strauss siblings. The wary glances we used to get turned into open hostility. Shopkeepers refused to trade with us, forcing us to rely entirely on what our small farm could produce.

But that wasn't the end of it. A more vicious rumor soon followed, one so cruel it felt like a physical blow. Whispers began to circulate that I was the reason our parents had died.

We cried together that night, huddled in our home, wounded by the sheer cruelty of the people we had once called neighbors.

The harassment began in earnest after that. Rotten tomatoes and stones were hurled at our house. We'd find threatening messages scrawled on our fence. Then, the worst of it started—people began sneaking onto our land, not just to threaten us, but to try and hurt our animals.

One day, when they were outside looking after their farm. Elfman started shouting a nonsense pointing at the sky. "It's a bird… it's a plane… it's aliens!"

"Stop screaming nonsense." Mirajane scolded him, then looked at the sky.

"Onee-chan, there's something in the sky!" Lisanna pointed at the sky

Mirajane was shocked. It was a paw-shaped bubble flying towards them.

"What is that!"

——

Back to Shun's POV:

When Shun looked below, there were three kids with silver colored hair. However one of them wore a black coat, trying to hide her arm. It looked like they were trying to clean their farm, which was obviously ruined with dirt and flour by someone.

As they landed, the paw-bubble disappeared with a *POP-!*

"Who are you, big brother?" The ever so fearless Lisanna approached them

"I'm an S-class mage from Fairy Tail magicians guild. I'm the future guild master." Shun introduced himself in a humble way

"Ehh, is that amazing?" Lisanna didn't know such titles, as she never left the village

"Lisanna, come back here." Mirajane was cautious and called back Lisanna

"They're not the villagers, onee-chan. So they won't harass us." Lisanna said but still went back

"Those two are my subordinates. Sorano of the hundred spirits and Ultear the time witch." Shun made a joke to ease the situation but he was bonked on the head by Ultear

"Who are you calling a witch?!"

"Pfft-" the small interaction, made Lisanna laugh and successfully eased the situation

"By the way, from what you said. Are you guys being harassed by the villagers? Why?" Sorano asked as she pointed towards the ruined potato farm.

When she said that, the siblings became silent.

"Those bad people are spreading dumb rumors and harassing us." Lisanna said with an angry face, her eyebrows furrowed. But it only made her look adorable

As they continued their conversation, a random villager saw the whole thing. A paw shaped bubble landing in Strauss' family's farm and interacting with them.

The villager immediately came up with a new headline, he ran back hurriedly with a smile.

Shun noticed him, but he let him go.

'It'll be more fun this way.' He thought

"Let's head inside. It's okay right? Onee-chan." Lisanna asked as she made a puppy eyes

Mirajane had no choice but to agree, since they didn't seem like a bad people

When they got inside, Lisanna made them sit and said "Wait a bit" then she went and brought back cups of water. She gave one to each then asked

"Can you tell us about the place where you came fromm?"

"Of course!" Sorano's big sister mode had turned on and she patted Lisanna's head. Then she started chatting without a stop with Lisanna.

'Since her hair color is similar to Yukino. She triggered the highest levelcof her big sister mode.' Shun deduced with a smile

Mirajane had a smile as she thought 'It's been a while since the house was full of life and laughter.'

After an hour of intense chatting, Sorano was tired and thirsty.

However the silence didn't last long…

That villager from before had brought the whole village. Spreading his newly thought rumor. He led them and shouted.

"The demon family has made contact with aliens!!"

"We must get rid of them before they eat us! Protect our children's future!"

They shouted a bunch of nonsense.

Their intent was clear as they all had a flaming torch. They were planning to burn them all alive!

"What's this noise?" Shun asked as he feigned ignorance

"You guys! Run away fast or you will get attacked by them!" Mirajane said with a panicked look

"Calm down, explain first. Why are they attacking you guys?" Ultear asked

"…" the siblings became quiet. Then the bravest of them… Lisanna answered "They are calling us demons or witches… and spreading crazy rumors…" as she said this she started to sob

Sorano hugged her immediately and comforted her

"Well let's go outside and take care of the situation. Before continuing our conversation." Shun said and went out

"Wait! Words don't work on those people." Mirajane said in a panic and followed him. She can't bring them harm because of her…

"Calm down, let me handle this." Shun said to the panicking Mirajane.

They both went outside.

"What do you guys want?" Shun asked as he looked at the villagers. All carrying some type of stuffs that could be used as a weapon in the countryside.

"Shut up! Alien! We know you guys are friends with the demons!" The leader of the group, the guy that keeps making new rumors shouted.

"Guys! Attack!" He shouted, before Shun could argue

"Haha, words really don't work on them!" Shun said to Mirajane, agreeing with her earlier words.

*huff-!*

Bunch of random items were being thrown at them. Such as stones, potatoes, eggs and tomatoes.

'Those villagers are quite wealthy.' Shun thought amusedly before he activated his newly created magic. That he acquired from awakening his Devil Fruit.

Shun raised his palm, and an eerie light blossomed from it. In an instant, the stones and rotten tomatoes flying toward them transformed into a swarm of small, harmless paws. The creatures then immediately turned and scurried back toward the bewildered villagers who had thrown them.

"I knew it! He is an alien—"

"What is this thing—" before they finish their sentences…

They disappeared!

*POP-!* *POP-!* *POP-!* *POP-!* *POP-!*

"…"

Mirajane stared, utterly shocked. With a single, effortless gesture—just the raising of a palm—he had eliminated hundreds of people. Who in the world is he?! Her eyes darted from the empty space where the crowd had been to Shun, who stood there, looking as harmless and friendly as ever. The contrast was terrifying; the gentle face before her now seemed like the mask of a Demon King.

A deep, unnerving silence descended upon the once-noisy space. The crowd had vanished, leaving only Mirajane and Shun standing alone.
