Later that night, Liebe said, "Malvoth, is everything done?"
Malvoth said, "Yes. The memories of everyone have been altered."
Liebe said, "Good. What do I need to do?"
Malvoth said, "I can only alter memories, that's it. Beings who depend on instinct to remember rather than memories will not be affected. Furthermore, anyone who is stronger than myself will not be affected."
Liebe said, "Is that all?"
Malvoth said, "No, it isn't. Furthermore, all physical records will remain—such as documents, presents, photos, or awards. And there will be certain voids in memories that can't be fulfilled. Such as this particular memory where she won an Olympiad in Eldoria. The medal is in her dorm with your academy's emblem. But in her memories, she won the award in her institution in the Empire. But it doesn't exist in her house. She will remember placing it in her house, but it will not be there. That is a hole that can't be fulfilled. The ones who knew her here will forget. And those who didn't know her in the Empire will have fond memories with her in the Empire. And not to mention, close individuals who knew her on a daily basis will still remember through muscle memory and habits. They will feel a void in their daily lives. She will appear to them in interactions and dreams as a ghost. And you will appear to her in the same way. She will see you in dreams, but that's it."
Liebe said, "OK. I want a glimpse."
Malvoth said, "Oh, you want to see the memories of the new reality, despite the fact you don't exist in it?"
Liebe said, "Will it harm my memories of the old reality?"
Malvoth said, "No. It's possible for you to have both. But this new one will seem like a movie rather than reality."
Liebe said, "Show me."
As he saw the new memories of Alysa smiling, laughing, being herself, Liebe teared up. As seeing all he wanted happened, he thought, I did it. I did it. She can finally be happy. No, she is finally smiling. I did it. So why... why does it hurt so much?
Malvoth said, "Do you regret it?"
Liebe said, "No. I'm glad. I'm so happy she can smile once more."
Malvoth said, "Good."
Liebe said, "Horn, I need a favour."
Horn said, "Alright."
Liebe said, "Take every picture, memory, gift, clothes of Alysa from Domr, the HQ—everything we had of her—and put it in a storage room in my house, the Vale Estate. And tell Mai to keep it safe. I will personally organize it later on."
Horn said, "Understood."
Meanwhile, next morning in the Empire, Alysa woke up at 11 AM and went to the dining room.
Oriar said, "Good morning, Princess. You slept well?"
Alysa said, "I did, Dad."
Oriar said, "I can tell. That's why I had the servants let you sleep in today."
Alysa said, "Alright." But as she looked around, Alysa said, "Dad, where are the photo frames of my childhood with you guys?"
Oriar said, "I just noticed."
Alysa said, "Oh my God, we have been robbed!"
Oriar said, "Guess so. It's alright. We can get more."
Alysa said, "It's weird, isn't it? All they took were my childhood memories and photos, yet no valuables."
Oriar said, "No point in thinking about it now. So what were you dreaming about? You sure were smiling a lot. So who is he?"
Alysa said, "Huh? How did you know?"
Oriar said, "It's a father's job to know their daughter, isn't it?"
Alysa said, "I don't know, Dad. He seems kind, caring. Yet whenever I look up, I can't see his face—parts of it are always missing. But I feel like I have known him my whole life."
Oriar said, "Well, maybe one day you can introduce him to me."
Alysa said, "Dad, he is just a dream."
Oriar said, "Dreams are a way to someone's heart. So maybe he might just be out there."
Oriar said, "So what's the plan now?"
Alysa said, "I might just stay home. Tomorrow I will go to class."
Oriar said, "Alright."
As Alysa went for a walk during the evening, she was beside the lake at sunset. She bumped into someone. It was Liebe. She fell on her face. In an instant, she felt it was the person from her dreams. But it was a girl.
Alysa said, "I'm so sorry."
The person said, "I'm sorry as well." As she left.
This was Horn.
Later, Horn said, "Is this necessary, Liebe?"
Liebe said, "I wanted a glimpse of her smile."
Horn said, "Next time, be more careful and don't bump into her literally."
Liebe said, "Yeah. I don't want to take her smile away again."
