Grayson lowered himself onto his knees before the edge of the bed, his broad hands carefully holding Mailah's foot. He inspected her skin with the intense focus of a man trying to solve a dangerous puzzle.
"Does it hurt when I press here?" Grayson asked softly, his deep voice rich and quiet as his thumb pressed gently against her ankle.
"Not at all," Mailah smiled warmly. She reached out, her fingers sliding through his thick dark hair, gently massaging his scalp. "It feels completely fine, Grayson. The swelling went down hours ago."
