Yang Bo no longer cared why this assessment scenario was real. He changed into an insulated Protective Suit, grabbed a shovel, and jabbed directly at the electric eel.
Stimulated by the jab, the electric eel continuously discharged electricity. All the goldfish in the pond died, their bellies floating upward.
CRACK! Stung by the shovel's attack, the electric eel darted out of the water, only to be struck down by the quick-eyed and deft-handed Yang Bo with a single, decisive swing.
Electric Energy Control +1!
Yang Bo chuckled inwardly, but outwardly, he simply pulled out a garbage bag and collected the dead goldfish along with the electric eel corpse, its head completely smashed by his shovel.
Once the entire garden was cleared, his final evaluation score for the simulated assessment was 85 points. Points were deducted for not using specialized tools to deal with the electric eel, and for failing to identify a poisonous plant, which he had accidentally mixed in with the regular vegetation.
"My reflexes were so fast just now," Yang Bo pondered as he took off the Virtual Helmet and sipped his tea. "The moment the electric eel moved, I practically knew exactly where it was going. Is this the power of the Dynamic Field of View?"
"Skill!" he silently chanted in his mind.
Swimming: Intermediate (24/100)
Dynamic Field of View: Basic (4/10)
Disguise: Basic (4/10)
Electric Energy Control: Basic (1/10)
Sound Wave Positioning: Basic (1/10)
"Tsk, tsk, the capabilities of this company are insane," he marveled. "I felt something was off the moment I entered the simulation training. It was far too realistic, yet still not reality itself. Was the image processed?"
"Electric Energy Control. What is this all about? Do I discharge electricity like an electric eel?" Yang Bo wondered, pondering how he should test it out.
Meanwhile, at Anzhijie Company, Liu Zhijie received a set of data. He scanned through the numbers, which were highlighted in red, green, and gold.
"His neural response is so fast. Could he have awakened a Superpower in this area?" Liu Zhijie wondered. He turned on his computer and carefully reviewed the footage of Yang Bo smashing the electric eel's head with the shovel. Fast, ruthless, and deadly accurate—an ordinary person could never pull that off. Hitting an electric eel's body was easy enough, but striking its head while it was still underwater was entirely different.
"I'll observe him for a while longer," Liu Zhijie decided, though he wasn't entirely certain. After all, some abilities were actually quite useless.
Back in his room, Yang Bo decided not to run any experiments just yet. What should he do first?
Farm for free benefits, of course. He could only take a maximum of two simulated assessments per day. Due to time constraints, a single assessment consisted of tasks like clearing the garden, cleaning the room, or sweeping out the basement.
Yang Bo regretted not discovering this sooner, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't have unlocked the assessments earlier anyway, as he hadn't met the time requirements in the previous training modules.
Killed one Fluorescent Poison Frog, Light Energy Control +1!
Killed one electric eel, Electric Energy Control +1!
Killed one bat, Sound Wave Positioning +1!
Killed one snake, Thermal Imaging Vision +1!
With only one day left in the one-month training period, Yang Bo checked his newly acquired Skills.
Swimming: Advanced (103/1000)
Disguise: Basic (4/10)
Sound Wave Positioning: Intermediate (18/100)
Dynamic Field of View: Intermediate (12/100)
Thermal Imaging Vision: Basic (5/10)
Electric Energy Control: Basic (6/10)
Light Energy Control: Basic (4/10)
"It's a pity there are no Mutant Creatures, otherwise I'd have a ton of Skills," Yang Bo muttered as he reviewed his abilities. The main issue was that acquiring abilities was completely random. The simulated assessments contained many poisonous creatures and insects—like spiders, centipedes, and ants—but killing them yielded no Skills.
If it did, Yang Bo felt he would have struck it rich by now.
"I'm looking forward to tomorrow's final assessment." Standing by the window, Yang Bo gazed at the community outside. Night had already fallen. Aside from the streetlamps, the rest of the area was engulfed in darkness.
With a thought, he activated Thermal Imaging Vision!
Instantly, his vision shifted into a thermal imaging mode, though its range seemed limited to about a hundred meters.
"Light Energy Control.
"As for Electric Energy Control, how should I test that?" he wondered. Yang Bo was afraid of causing a huge commotion. Although there was no smart system monitoring him, who could guarantee that discharging electrical power wouldn't cause a blackout in his room?
While Yang Bo hesitated, Liu Zhijie was also keeping a close eye on his training progress.
"Tsk, tsk, this kid definitely has violent tendencies. He doesn't hesitate for a second when it comes to slaughtering these small animals," Liu Zhijie noted.
"But that's a good thing," he thought, breathing a sigh of relief. "Other branches recruited people who accepted missions, only to turn around and report the company. Even if they don't have evidence, it sets a terrible precedent. What would our clients think?"
Back with Yang Bo, he was currently lying in the bathtub. He stared blankly at his glowing finger, which emitted a light comparable to a fifteen-watt energy-saving bulb. He was utterly dumbfounded.
"Is this Light Energy Control?
"Is the level just too low?" Yang Bo stared at his glowing finger. He had experimented for a bit and found that he could make any part of his body glow, but the light couldn't leave his physical form.
With a sudden thought, Yang Bo looked at his glowing index finger and raised his middle finger as well. The top halves of both fingers began to glow, and the light grew brighter and brighter.
"It actually works," Yang Bo marveled, distinctly feeling the heat radiating from his fingers.
He then submerged his fingers into the bathtub.
HISS!
The bathwater instantly bubbled with steam, emitting a sharp hissing sound.
Yang Bo glanced down at his nether regions, wondering if he could heat up *that*... *Ahem*, the main issue was that the glow was blindingly bright.
"It seems my ability isn't quite strong enough yet.
"Once it reaches the Intermediate level, will it act like a Light Series spell?"
The light on his fingers dissipated. Yang Bo really wanted to test out his Electric Energy, but he was too afraid of causing a scene. Instead, he spent some time slowly familiarizing himself with releasing Light Energy.
"It's a bit useless," he concluded. "It takes too long to release, and the temperature is too low. I can't see any practical applications for this at the moment." After experimenting for a while, Yang Bo felt mentally drained, and the results hadn't been ideal.
"Moreover, this Skill can only be leveled up by killing prey. I've activated the Skill several times now, but its level hasn't increased at all.
"The Skill level points increase tenfold—Basic is 10, Intermediate is 100, and Advanced is 1000. So what levels come after that?"
After pondering for a while, Yang Bo went to bed. Releasing a Superpower took quite a toll on his energy.
Getting up early the next morning, he washed up, casually cooked some food, and brewed a pot of tea in preparation for the final assessment. The higher his score on this final test, the more missions he would be eligible to accept later on.
Putting on his Virtual Helmet, Yang Bo prepared to begin. Simply put, this exam was purely procedural. It required him to select the correct tools and follow specific operational procedures for different poisonous creatures.
The primary premise was personal safety. However, if he encountered these poisonous creatures during an actual mission, he would definitely have to charge extra.
The virtual image shifted, and Yang Bo found himself standing at the entrance of a garden. He still didn't know if this assessment was real or not. After all, the images could be optimized—turning real into fake, and fake into real.
"Countdown beginning." Because the actual assessment mission had a strict time limit, a voice immediately rang in Yang Bo's ear.
