Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Onboarding Training

The next day, Yang Bo made breakfast for himself at home. When he went out, he took the trash down to the recycling area downstairs. There was no need for trash sorting here. Awesome!

Walking out of the community gates, Yang Bo prepared to head to the company. He had to take public transportation here. In the past, he didn't have to pay, but now he did.

Prices varied depending on the time of day and the distance. There weren't many people waiting at the bus stop. Over ninety percent of the residents didn't come out to work, and most of those citizens had their own Anti-Gravity cars.

Yang Bo was looking forward to what kind of tasks he would get today. Arriving at the bus stop, he found that the bus was still five minutes away, so he found a place to sit down.

Just as he sat down, a young man also walked into the waiting area. This young man was dressed in a very ordinary manner.

However, Yang Bo felt something was off. The first thing this person did upon walking in was look at him. When others walked in, they would usually look for an empty seat first.

"Am I being tracked again?" Yang Bo frowned slightly as he recalled the feeling of being followed the afternoon before yesterday.

When the young man walked into the waiting room, he immediately spotted his target for this mission: a nineteen-year-old resident. The task was far too easy.

However, making a move here wouldn't work. This was a public area; once he took action, drone police would arrive in less than twenty seconds.

The young man found a seat and used his peripheral vision to observe the target. He was a very ordinary resident, which was obvious from his attire. The young man didn't know who would need this resident's blood sample.

The young man touched the ring on his finger. The bus would arrive in a few minutes. He planned to use the commotion of getting on and off the bus to acquire the target's blood sample with his ring. This mission was practically handing him free money; it was simply too easy.

Watching a bus pull into the station, Yang Bo stood up abruptly and instantly boarded it, even though this vehicle was not heading to his company.

The young man was taken aback by Yang Bo's sudden movement. According to his intelligence, the target shouldn't be taking this bus.

He quickly stood up, but it was too late. The bus had already started moving.

"Damn it," the young man cursed inwardly, then hurried to dash toward the taxi stand just a short distance away.

After getting on the bus, Yang Bo walked to the very back. Seeing the young man rushing toward the taxi stand, Yang Bo frowned.

"It seems he really is coming after me," Yang Bo concluded with certainty.

Yang Bo pondered for a moment, then carefully checked the bus route before getting off at the next stop.

After waiting for a few minutes, the bus heading to the company finally arrived. Yang Bo felt heavy-hearted. Who was tracking him? Was it the company? That shouldn't be the case.

"What should I do now?" Yang Bo felt a bit panicked.

After arriving at the company, Yang Bo hesitated about whether to report that someone was tracking him.

"Yang Bo, this is your upcoming schedule. Although your current rank is extremely low, to prepare you for potential dangers, you will undergo a series of onboarding training sessions," Liu Zhijie said, handing Yang Bo a piece of paper.

Yang Bo felt a bit suspicious. "Training? Am I getting training only after officially onboarding?"

In reality, this was Liu Zhijie skewing resources in Yang Bo's favor. Because Yang Bo might undergo Genetic Evolution, Liu Zhijie was giving him this opportunity. If it were an ordinary person, they might have to work for a while before receiving any onboarding training.

"Mr. Liu, where will the training take place?" Yang Bo asked, carefully reviewing the paper. It mainly involved identifying dangerous organisms or items and learning how to properly handle them.

"It's virtual training. We have a Virtual Helmet for you. You have one month. Since you don't have a Biological Chip to assist you, you must score at least sixty points in the assessment.

"Due to the nature of the clientele we interact with, there's no telling what these people might keep in their homes for thrills," Liu Zhijie explained. Those wealthy people were capable of doing anything in their pursuit of excitement.

"Mr. Liu, I'll do my best."

"Take the Virtual Helmet back with you. You can train at home. You need to log in for at least four hours a day. Additionally, you will be paid your salary for this month," Liu Zhijie added.

"Understood."

Yang Bo then left the company with a box and took a taxi straight back to his residence. If someone was tracking him, so be it; he wasn't afraid while living in a private community.

Yang Bo brewed himself a cup of tea before sitting on the sofa to open the box. Inside was an old Virtual Helmet, resembling a motorcycle helmet with a large visor. Accompanying it was a pair of silver-white gloves with wires connected to the Virtual Helmet.

The Virtual Helmet was already activated. Yang Bo looked at its brand; it was from the Ping An Company again.

After putting on the Helmet, Yang Bo found his field of vision was just like when riding a bike. There was only one software program loaded onto it, named "E-level Safety Training." Upon opening it, several options appeared: first, dangerous plants; second, dangerous animals; third, how to dispose of dangerous plants; fourth, how to handle dangerous animals; fifth, how to perform self-rescue; and sixth, a mock assessment.

"Tsk tsk." With a movement of his hands, Yang Bo opened the first option. The poisonous plants inside were bizarre and varied. There were plants that killed upon drawing blood, ones with exploding fruits, others covered in highly toxic thorns that caused severe paralysis, seemingly unremarkable ones that were extremely venomous all over, and mushrooms that released toxic spores, among many others.

Yang Bo didn't think these were a big deal. When working as a cleaner, he would be wearing a Protective Suit. Generally speaking, after a task was issued, someone from the company would evaluate it, and he would receive a Protective Suit tailored to the specific environment when accepting the job.

At noon, he made himself a bowl of mixed noodles. After eating, he continued studying. After all, Yang Bo didn't want to lose his life in his future work due to a mistake or inaccurate intelligence.

On private estates, service personnel might not receive timely medical treatment, as they had to rely on the company's people for rescue rather than official agencies. Once official agencies intervened, the clients' secret cultivation and breeding of these organisms would be exposed...

For the next ten days, Yang Bo stayed at home, trying his best to memorize everything he had learned because it was directly related to his financial future.

While Yang Bo stayed at home, someone outside was going crazy with anxiety. The person tracking Yang Bo had originally thought that obtaining a blood sample from an ordinary person would be a breeze. He figured he could easily get a little blood by bumping into him while boarding a bus or walking on the street. He never expected the target to return to his residence and simply never come out.

"Damn it, you bastard! I'm going to kill this piece of trash!" the young man who took the mission screamed in his mind.

Meanwhile, Yang Bo was getting ready for the mock assessment. Taking a deep breath, he clicked on the mock assessment and found himself standing in a garden. The test required him to locate and clear out the hazardous items within this garden.

He found a few plants. After putting on his protective gear, he placed these plants into special trash bags. Different plants required different bags, and poisonous plants needed dedicated ones.

Inside the garden's fish pond swam some goldfish. Yang Bo knew it wouldn't be this simple—it was an assessment, after all. Soon, he spotted something pitch-black beneath a rockery.

"An electric eel." Seeing the creature, Yang Bo grabbed a shovel and struck the rockery forcefully.

Swimming +1!

Swimming +1!

Swimming +1!

...

As the goldfish in the pond tumbled wildly, Yang Bo was dumbfounded. Streams of information flowed through his mind.

"Holy shit, is this scenario real?" Yang Bo was stunned, but his eyes soon shone brightly as he stared at the electric eel discharging electricity in the pond.
