Some people at the base saw Yang Bo rushing out and muttered to themselves, wondering if this Bird Slayer Brother had a loose screw. Even the base personnel were puzzled.
When Yang Bo arrived at the mission submission area, the staff opened the bag and were dumbfounded. The silver fur showcased its status, prompting the staff to hurriedly call the base manager.
In Yang Bo's field of vision, the base manager looked like an NPC. In reality, after seeing the silver rat corpse and then looking at the crude third-generation Blade Mecha, the base manager was astounded. This was an A-level mutant creature! Since the base was established, not a single one had ever been killed.
Yang Bo waited in boredom for the test results. The base personnel couldn't believe it either—how could someone piloting a mecha of Yang Bo's level reap such a harvest?
"Is this that D-level mutant rat?" Several people at the base looked at the test report and immediately recognized the rat's identity. This D-level mutant rat had been around for a long time. Because of the complex terrain in that area, it was incredibly hard to catch and had survived for quite a few years.
"To think it's actually an A-level creature. It definitely has a unique ability. Report it," the base manager ordered.
Tens of thousands of kilometers high in the sky, aboard a massive warship spanning hundreds of kilometers, a woman wearing a Federation Major General uniform was reading the report sent from Base 16 on the planet below.
"Send the item over immediately," the woman ordered softly. Her baggy military uniform obscured her figure, but her face was undeniably beautiful, albeit with a chilling aura.
"Activate the S-level research lab. I want to know everything about this rat as soon as possible, and use the materials to develop a Genetic Potion for testing right away.
"Do not announce this news for the time being.
"For the individual reward, he can be granted a military rank."
Series of orders were issued by the woman, and the warship's Light Brain executed them one by one. On the warship, the Light Brain only served a supplementary role. Anyone capable of becoming a Captain was at least an A-level Genetic Enhancer, specifically one aligned with intelligence-based Genetic Evolution. It was said that the terrifying computational power of such a Genetic Evolver's brain surpassed even that of a Light Brain.
"Military rank? I don't want it. I just want Gold Coins." Yang Bo had waited for an hour and finally got the results. It was an A-level mutant creature, and an extremely rare, special A-level mutant creature at that.
"Uh, are you sure you don't want it?" The base manager was somewhat dumbfounded. After all, accepting a military rank would grant access to a lot of classified information and numerous privileges.
Yang Bo sneered inwardly. He knew full well that this game wasn't a game; it was fiercely real. Once he accepted it, his identity would become a problem. On top of that, he could be conscripted at any given time. Although he wasn't sure if in-game military ranks were linked to reality, he didn't dare take the gamble.
He felt no attachment to the Alliance. If the Alliance were ever invaded one day, he would just eagerly scamper off to another country.
"No. What is wrong with you guys? I'm just playing a game, why are you being so long-winded?" Yang Bo replied firmly in annoyance.
"In that case, dear player, we would like to conduct a survey. Would that be convenient for you?" the base manager asked again, desperate to know exactly how Yang Bo had killed the A-level mutant creature.
"It's not convenient. Though, giving me Game Coins would make it convenient," Yang Bo said, shaking his head.
"Uh, alright. Submitting an A-level mutant creature rewards you with thirty million Game Coins. Given that what you submitted is a special mutant creature, the reward is increased by twenty million, totaling fifty million Gold Coins." The base management felt a complex mix of emotions. This was fifty million!
If an A-level mutant creature had been hunted down by the base's large-scale teams, it would be understandable. After all, their mechas and equipment were formidable. But this? A Whiteboard mecha and an unreliable player...
"Hehe." Yang Bo had looked it up a long time ago. An A-level mutant creature was worth thirty million, an A+ was one hundred million, and as for the S-Level, it was a staggering one billion.
However, Yang Bo also knew that the people behind the game wouldn't suffer a loss. Taking an A-level creature back to formulate a Genetic Potion—once successful, who knew how many A-level Genetic Evolvers it could create.
Of course, there was a chance of failure. There were many types of A-level mutant creatures, and some useless ones without special abilities didn't hold much value.
Yang Bo didn't envy those who used Genetic Potions at all, because his own abilities were far more badass than theirs.
"Dear player, we would like to view your combat recording. We are willing to pay a fee of five million Gold Coins."
"Five million is way too little," Yang Bo said, wondering inwardly if the official developers had no way to check the backend.
What Yang Bo didn't know was that the officials could indeed check it, but it required an application and specific clearances. A whole string of procedures made it incredibly troublesome. This involved data security, the military, mecha manufacturing companies, and the players' game terminal devices...
In the Federation, protocol was always the top priority. As long as the proper procedures were followed, one wouldn't be found guilty even if they killed a hundred people...
"Our base's permissions are limited."
"Five million it is, then." Yang Bo nodded. Then, under their guidance, he signed an agreement and handed over the combat recording to the base.
"Haha, haha!" Yang Bo logged out of the game. Although he hadn't figured it all out, the harvest was tangible and real.
He glanced at his skills—Invisibility: Advanced (105/1000); Disguise: Master (8210/10000).
Back at the base, the people who viewed the recording slapped their thighs in realization. They swiftly dispatched dozens of guards and dozens of warplanes to collect all the corpses at the scene of the incident—even the tiniest bits of animal tissue were gathered.
During this process, five relatively intact corpses of C-level mutant rats were discovered, along with other shattered remains. It was roughly estimated that this was the tribe belonging to that A-level mutant rat.
"TSK, TSK." Tens of thousands of kilometers high in the sky, the female officer aboard the warship finished watching the combat recording. Yang Bo had only provided the recording of this specific battle and nothing prior. Her eternally unchanging, iceberg-like expression finally showed a shift.
The female officer closed her eyes. In the next second, she rapidly inputted text. A few minutes later, the data was sent to an even higher-level department.
The base also saw this data. The A-level mutant creature had purely been duped this time. Having lived for so many years, this A-level creature had always been cautious, prudent, and timid.
This time, it had caught the scent of food. Coupled with the fact that other small animals were already feeding, the mutant rat brought its whole family out to dine. Little did it know that a sneaky bastard like Yang Bo had planted a Hydrogen Bomb under the cow's corpse.
The rat's formidable Defense had withstood the Hydrogen Bomb's shockwave, but unfortunately, its internal organs were severely damaged by the immense impact. This had to do with the confined space at the time. On open flat ground, the mutant creature's speed would have allowed it to escape unscathed.
Having grown from a D-level creature, the rat had developed a timid and cautious nature.
At this moment, on the warship, the female officer's small mouth gaped wide open. She looked at the paper report in her hand in disbelief. "Are you sure its special ability is Invisibility?"
