Chapter 8 - Chapter 4: The Stunning Nine-Tails Mode, Entering the Ferocious Beast Gorge (2/2)

"No wonder it's a god-tier talent!" Su Yun exclaimed once again.

After the surge of excitement came a moment of calm.

Su Yun sat down on a chair, tilting his head up as he stared at the light bulb, deep in thought.

In one week, the inter-school selection would begin. Those with outstanding results would be chosen by the top ten academies.

The top ten academies were the heart of Huaxia's cultivation of new-generation powerhouses.

Talents from all over the country would gather there and receive the best education available.

It could be said that the teachers and students within these academies were either exceptionally gifted or backed by powerful families.

"Now that I have this chance, I must seize it!"

Su Yun refused to be bullied for the rest of his life.

Even more so, he refused to remain trapped at the bottom forever.

He wanted to change.

A person's thoughts often change with their position in life or the power they possess.

But no matter how much Su Yun thought about it, the current him had nothing at all.

No family backing. No mentor. No resources.

"Wait… outside Canglan City, there's the Ferocious Beast Canyon."

Su Yun's eyes lit up.

Ferocious Beast Canyon was a place under strict military control.

At the same time, it offered those at the very bottom a chance to earn money.

Humans fought ferocious beasts there, and the casualty rate was extremely high.

It was survival with one's head practically tied to their belt.

Su Yun slowly stood up. "I have strength, but almost no real combat experience. Ferocious Beast Canyon will be my starting point."

Once the decision was made, he acted immediately.

He left the house at once and headed toward the nearest bus station.

Outside Ferocious Beast Canyon, Military Base No. 1.

A bus rattled as it came to a stop.

Su Yun stepped off and looked toward the military camp ahead.

Tall fences crackled with high-voltage electricity, clearly designed to keep ferocious beasts at bay.

The base was vast, with tents scattered everywhere, and noisy voices constantly filled the air.

A squad of soldiers stood in rigid formation, firearms in hand, with battle sabers or swords strapped to their backs.

Their sharp, cold features looked as if they had been carved with blades and axes.

Especially their eyes—like wolves or leopards.

This was killing intent.

Su Yun lowered his head, not daring to meet their gaze.

He could tell that these soldiers had clawed their way out of bloodshed.

"ID card… eighteen years old?"

At the camp entrance, a middle-aged soldier frowned slightly as he examined the identification Su Yun handed over.

"My advice is to find a team inside the camp. Don't act alone."

"Thank you, sir. I understand."

Su Yun took back his ID card and paid 500 blue coins.

His face twitched slightly.

Damn it.

That was ridiculously expensive.

Ferocious Beast Canyon wasn't free to enter. An entry fee was required.

But if you could capture or kill a ferocious beast, then it was worth it.

Ferocious beasts were treasure from head to toe.

All of it meant money.

The middle-aged soldier glanced at Su Yun as he entered and shouted loudly, "Next! Stop dawdling!"

Inside the camp, people gathered in small groups.

Most of them looked to be in their twenties to forties.

When they saw Su Yun, playful expressions appeared on their faces.

"Eighteen years old. Doesn't know how high the sky is."

"Wanna bet? You think he'll come out alive?"

"Heh. About twenty thousand people die in Ferocious Beast Canyon every year."

"If a beast tide breaks out, the number's even higher."

Many of them mocked Su Yun openly.

Su Yun chose to ignore them completely. Carrying the dry rations and water provided by the base, he walked forward in silence.

A slightly dim forest appeared before him.

Instead of fear, Su Yun felt a strange sense of excitement.

After entering Ferocious Beast Canyon for about a hundred meters, a stench of blood and decay rushed toward him.

The surroundings fell into eerie silence, giving rise to boundless fear.

Roar!

Suddenly, a beast's roar thundered through the forest.

Flocks of birds were startled into flight, wings beating wildly.

"It begins."

A sharp gleam flashed in Su Yun's eyes.

He would use Ferocious Beast Canyon to shed his old shell and be reborn.
