The happiness didn't die down even while he promised himself to wait till he got to the shed, the excitement remained.
'That...that was the coolest thing I have ever done, I can't believe I actually did it!!'
He arrived at the shed's spot, staring up the tree he noticed it was the same height as the second shed.
With excitement still brewing in him, he decided to try out his new ability again.
This time, he had less concentration than before due to the excitement, and it took way longer than he expected, but eventually, the stem sprouted from the tree.
With his imagination, he formed something useful enough for him to climb on. It was brittle and fragile compared to the one he formed earlier.
'I wonder why this one's different..' he stared, using his hand to check if the stem was rigid enough to climb on.
After the assessment, he picked up the items and ascended towards the shed. As he reached, he turned around and glanced up at the sky.
'It's evening already..? That was fast, I barely had time to check out the other sheds..' A disappointed look appeared on his face.
He went into the shed and dropped them carefully on the ground, then stepped out again to sort out his drying clothes.
When he touched them, every bit of water had evaporated from them. They felt hot, dry, and stiff under his palms.
"They seem dry enough.." he whispered to himself, pulling them off the branch to his shoulder.
Back at the clan, he never did manual labour. He was always shut out whenever he brought up the thought of it.
They had maids who took care of that, so he never really knew much of it, though he normally saw them do it once in a while, when he was doing his normal mischief.
The basic knowledge he was withheld from was what was helping him during his trying times. Though it would have been a bigger help if he had been taught properly and not pushed off.
'Only if they taught it to the younger generations, rather than worry about their fate in the clan.' A sigh escaped his lips, walking into the shed.
Once he put his clothes ìnto his bag, he took the items he borrowed from the other shed and began sampling them.
He sat by the window and stared at his reflection in the mirror, something he hadn't seen in days since he left the clan, except when he frequented the riverside.
"There is no giving up, Ralph. You have to prove to them that, you shouldn't even have that thought in your head."
"Grow, evolve and return as the discarded heir to make everyone bow to you." A dirty smile streaked across his face.
His attention shifted toward the yellow sun at the far end of the sky, evening had arrived fast, quicker than he expected.
'Day one, and I only found a mirror and this...cup' he shifted his vision to the cup in his palms.
He examined it and there was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that made it somehow become more valuable than it already is.
'Its only value is the fact that it's glass, tch. Though with the rate glass is going, this could sell for one thousand Brossells.'
'Which isn't so bad in the hands of a kid like me, just need to find a buyer first. That means I will eventually have to head to a city, one known for good sales.'
Thoughts spiralled through his head, staring at the small fragile cup lying in his hand.
'Winter is coming soon, leaving these woods will actually be the best idea but first, I need to gather up enough resources for a long journey..'
'If I remember the map correctly, and with my calculation, the nearest city will take about four to five days, although this is an assumption, it could still take more than that.'
Raising his head toward the setting sun, he continued his thoughts, the orange sky on the horizon being his only company.
'There are thirty days in a month and only five days have gone by, which means I have till the twentieth of this month to leave this forest and head towards a city for shade against the violent winter storm.'
His mind reeled to a flashback of the last winter, and shivers went through his spine like he was in the flashback and not just reliving it.
'The last winter storm was not nice for us, even with the clan's walls.'
With a violent shake of his head, he came to a decision.
'Eighteen days to gather all my needed items, then I'll use the remaining days to depart.'
'Come to think of it, we might experience early winter this year. I remember an elder saying it back at the clan, which means I'll shorten it to fifteen days, just for safety reasons.'
Squeezing his hands tightly around the cup, a low growl hummed around the room.
The thought struck him that he wouldn't be celebrating the winter holiday with his family.
'I usually looked forward to that day, i guess not everything works out as you have planned it.'
The sunlight disappeared from his face minutes later, darkness now seeping into the forest, like a tranquil cloak over the forest.
The shed became dark, but the soft light of the remaining sun rays still sat around the corner of the shed.
He moved over to the firewood pile, and began striking the stones until the woods on the pile lighted up in flames.
With every thought still troubling him, he sat by the fire to warm himself for a bit. His view was faced toward the window, the bright moon light moving up to the sky.
The light from the flames highlighted the frames of his face, dark eyes gleaming under the light.
'Tomorrow I will need to gather as much resources as I need. No slacking off, or death penalty is the reward.' A thought went across his mind, his eyes slowly closing to sleep.
