Prince Liang Chen froze behind the wall, his legs refusing to move forward as his eyes stayed fixed on the figure before him. "What did he just say?" he murmured, his lips quivering. But no one could answer him, not even Shuming.
"Ji Mingyuan, watch your words," Empress Wanqing snorted.
"Try me, Mother," Prince Ji Mingyaun hissed, and he stormed out. But just as he took a turn, there stood Liang Chen.
"Chen…" Ji Mingyuan called softly, but as he stepped forward, Liang Chen doubled his steps backward.
"How long have you been here?" Ji Mingyuan asked.
Liang Chen rolled his eyes. "Long enough to know everything."
Yes, that's exactly what he wanted to say. But he found himself staring at the man before him, lost for words.
"I…I just arrived," Liang Chen lied.
Ji Mingyuan stepped closer, but this time Liang Chen did not step back. He stared at the man before him.
"Come with me," Ji Mingyuan said, but Liang Chen quickly declined.
"No, I have some errands to run."
