Last Day Before Takeoff:
Victory Gate POV:
We were packing up as we leave tomorrow for our first event. It's been a long journey, but an even longer week. After the team strategy meeting, I had to help with Steel's breakdown. Thank goodness Rose and Rain were with me along with security watching from the corner just in case Steel goes on a rampage. That's not what she did though, she cried and it was an awkward silence for a while there.
That's when I received a message from Gray. It was a message saying," Vic, I know Steel might be feeling like the team is against her. That's why I want you to tell her that's not the case. I need you to tell her about how devastating and cruel counter-strategies are and how messed up and cruel they can be. Heck, you can even tell her some of the ones I talked about with you."
The message continued saying," Now be charming, and show the message to the other two. I also sent separate messages to Mama Blues and Spice, cause even if she's an asshole she still owes me one for not ratting her out when she was dating Ayana in secret." The message ended, and it was 'fun' to know Gray was helping Spice hide secrets from me. I then showed the message to the other two and they nodded. Rain soon went close to Steel and held her and hugged her to make her a bit better.
I soon began speaking saying," Steel I know this hurts, but the team is on board with this idea." She looked at me in disbelief and then in rage. She tried to come at me, but soon she realized Rain was holding her down and Rose was in front of me ready to take her down if she came at me. She also saw the dart guns aimed at her by security. I then yelled," Everyone calm down and stand down, especially you Steel, let me explain."
She calmed down and everyone did as well. I then spoke saying," You know Gray and I spoke one time if we had to face you in a race in a competition what would we do. I answered my best, she answered she would hit you with an SUV at full speed before the race eliminating you from participating in it." She was speechless with what I just said, as well as everyone else. Even Rain who had stopped holding Steel was holding his forehead in frustration sighing at Gray's cruelty.
I then continued speaking," You see how devastating counter-strategies could be. Especially with the Gold family and other criminals like the Pop Cult who would do anything to anyone who gets in the way of their operations. With this plan it hides our ranks, we protect one another from counter strategies, and make it harder to stop our dominance. It also protects you, because they won't even notice you." That's when Steel interrupted me screaming," But I want them to notice me, I want to face the best and beat them!!"
She began crying again and fell on her knees once again. I then came up to her and hugged her in my arms saying," You will, it might be later than everyone else but you will." She began crying on my shoulders as the night went on. I soon snapped out of my flashback of that day and soon I was heading to the next meeting. The final touches are being put in place it seems.
The team name was being decided, and our racing uniforms for tournaments are being revealed. With regular uniforms for open tournaments to Minors, and special uniforms for super minors to majors. Still, they're saying we have even more special outfits for Super Majors and the Premier Tournament if we qualify. We are also running late with the season starting in early August and we are almost to November. We need wins and points with Steel dealing with all the Opens and the rest of us getting minors to super majors.
We were trying out every single outfit created and deciding the main outfits as each would be sold by Dark Wear Fashion. We even tried on some very nice shoes, which I thank all three goddesses for not being heels like other Uma Musume wear. They wanted our shoes to not only fit and be comfortable, but also bring out our running styles to their fullest to have an advantage. We saw they were made well after Gray mentioned the And1 incident where the shoes broke the sponsored athlete's foot after playing with them. We also had a hand in designing the shoes making them look good as well as feel good.
Regular team uniforms though are matching black or white track outfits. While the special team uniforms were similar, they included a varsity jacket, a stylized shirt, and pants. Both had the changeable fake names on the back and the team name in the front for all uniforms and outfits. Still, the outfits were adjustable in case of the weather and environment. Even the names on the thing adjusted according to whichever uniform or outfit we wore.
The events have also been prepped, with the tournament organizers informed ahead of time. They seem to be cool with it after we paid the fees and donated a lot of cash to the league. Still, we decided on our set of songs for the tournament. We decided to have one solo song for opens, 3 for minors and super minors, 5 for Majors, and 6 for Super Majors. Finally, the Premier we all decided to have 7 songs, with the number of singers being decided by how many are needed for the performance.
Now after a bunch of arguments, we allowed Pop songs in our list, but they have to be mixed with other genres. We also decided to only include 1 per performance unless we wanted more for special occasions. We wanted to show flexibility and adaptability to our audiences. We also mixed in songs from Earth and originals in our lineups as well. Now it was time to decide on the team name.
Everyone suggested many names, from the team and the organization. The heads decided that the rules need to represent the values of the team and organization. We represent freedom from the norm and ferocity on the field. We were rebellious and tenacious as well and we all wanted a name that represented that. The organization gave us their suggestions, and they were so tacky and lame that we all rejected them.
We then made our own suggestions based on the criteria. I suggested Tenacious Rebels and was rejected immediately as it was lame. Mama Blues suggested Little Rebellion, which was a little too cute and was thus rejected. Gray suggested Deliverance of Pain, which was too edgy and was also rejected. Every name kept being rejected for one reason or another.
Rose's Rising to Heaven, GW's Flow's Rejection, and Rain's Screaming Might were dismissed. Next Lily's Challengers of Pegasus, Steel's Awaiting Threat, and Spice's Emperor's Posey were all rejected. Next was BlaD's Reality Rebellion, Sweet's Crash Course, and Jo's Rising Light were all eventually rejected after some thought. Finally, Norn's Princess Funeral and KiWi's Brutal Annihilation Lords of Law Supreme were rejected as well. Then I realized ImP hasn't given an idea yet and so I asked," Hey ImP you have any ideas?"
She was shy about it, which was weird, but we encouraged her to go for it. She told us," I named it after my favorite band the Broken Broncos, and here it is." She told it to us and it felt right, it screamed rebellion, freedom, tenacity, and ferocity. It also represented toughness and a perfect name for us rebellious Umas. We all agreed, the organization heads agreed as it had no curse words and it fit well.
We all put it on paper and soon we left the meeting satisfied with ourselves. The heads went to get the rights for the name and began implementing it into the team. Plus they made calls to hasten the process as well. We now enter the final quarter of our last preparations. Our team is finally almost there as a new name unites us.
