Alessia looked taken aback for a moment, before she firmly shook her head. "Don't worry, I can manage. I walked just fine yesterday."
"If you say so." Dervan finally said after studying her carefully.
They walked toward the elevator at the end of the hall and came out of the lobby. It was relatively empty, since a lot of people had gone for their daily jobs a lot earlier.
Dervan took a look at his wristwatch as they walked to the garage, with Alessia limping at his side. "We're late." He said curtly, his eyes moving to scan the woman who was leaning on him for support. "This won't do."
Before Alessia could register anything else, she felt her legs leave the ground and the world in front of her eyes turned sideways.
She looked up at Dervan in alarm when she realized that he had swept her off her feet. "I–I said I could walk on my own!"
