Chapter 21 - Fractured

Where did Noor go?

It's almost an hour. Did he get into trouble?

Ashraf murmured while walking through the hallway.

"Noor?" Ashraf called.

The sound echoed in the empty hallway.

"Sigh… maybe he's gone. He's acting strange all of a sudden."

Wait a minute.

His gaze shifted to the infirmary door.

There were hand stains of blood, and the lock was broken—like someone punched it open.

"What is this…" Ashraf trembled.

He slowly pushed the door.

"Noor?!" Ashraf yelled, shocked.

Noor was sitting on the floor, his body covered in blood and dust.

Some glass shards were stuck into his back.

His uniform was torn.

He was murmuring something repeatedly:

"Everyone hates me…

My parents…

Friends…

Everyone…

Everyone…"

"Noor…" Ashraf called, shaking.

"Noor!"

He didn't respond.

"Noor!"

Ashraf shouted loudly, grabbing Noor's shoulder and shaking him.

Gasp.

Huff—huff—

"Huh…" Noor responded, confused.

"What happened?"

"Nothing. Nothing." Noor tried getting up.

"Wait, you're heavily injured! We have to get you to a hospital! Anybody, help!" Ashraf yelled.

"No… it's nothing, I'm fine. I don't need help." Noor tried to walk but lost balance.

Ashraf grabbed him.

"No, you're not. If you don't want me to know what happened, it's okay… at least let me take you to the hospital. You're bleeding… there are glass shards stuck into your shoulder. Please…"

Ashraf teared up.

Noor looked at Ashraf.

(I don't want them to know what happened. Maybe it will get them into trouble. I don't care what happens to me. But if I'm stubborn… it could get worse.)

"…Okay," he replied.

Meanwhile…

Some students headed toward the storeroom, chatting.

"Hey, did you bring enough cigarettes?"

"Shh! If anyone finds out, we'll be kicked out of school!"

"Come on, nobody's there. Look, the gate is unlocked—haha!"

"Maybe the guard forgot to lock it."

Opens door.

"Oh my god—"

"AHHHHHHHHH!"

"AHHHHHH!"

Seeing the true horror in front of their eyes, they froze in shock.

The whole floor and walls were covered in blood stains.

The ground cracked like it was smashed by an unknown monster.

Roy lay on the floor, motionless and bleeding—his face looked like someone hit him repeatedly with a heavy object.

His allies were lying on the floor, bleeding.

The paralyzed guy whispered weakly:

"H—help…"

Some hours passed.

Birds chirping.

Noor sat on a hospital bed.

His hands and forehead were covered in bandages.

The afternoon sunlight hit his face… but he was unfazed.

Ashraf was outside, talking with the doctor.

"Did you inform his family? You know, if it's related to any crime scene, we have to inform the police."

"Don't worry, doctor, I already informed his family. He just fell from the second floor. He wasn't feeling well and lost balance."

"But still, it's weird. When we removed the glass shards from his body and sewed the wounds, he didn't react at all. It should have been extremely painful even with medicine…" the doctor said, rubbing his chin.

"Noor is really sensitive. Maybe the sedation medicine affected him so much that he became numb," Ashraf suggested.

"But still… he's walking on his feet, sitting like nothing happened. How is this possible after taking that amount of damage?"

"Sigh…"

"Okay, he's free to go. There are no major issues in his body. Just remind him to take the prescribed meds to recover faster."

"Okay, doctor," Ashraf said.

Opens door.

"Noor, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine," Noor said softly.

"So… umm… do you mind telling me what happened, sir?" Ashraf asked.

"I got hit by a truck."

"Seriously? Where?" Ashraf asked, annoyed.

"In the road in front of our school."

"And where did the truck go?" Ashraf squinted his eyes.

"The driver drove away after hitting me," Noor said, looking down.

"Oh come on—"

Thud.

The door opened.

"Ashraf! What happened?!" Ria asked desperately, looking like she had hurried there.

Jenne stood behind her, looking away.

"Nothing. He just fell from the stairs…" Ashraf said awkwardly.

Ria rushed to Noor.

"Hey! What happened? Why are you covered in bandages?!"

Noor looked down, staying silent.

"Oh calm down, please. The doctor said it's not a major injury. He'll be fine and discharged soon."

Twrrp—twrrp.

"Oh wait, I got a call. I'll be right back." Ashraf headed out.

"But why isn't he saying anything? Hey, say something!"

Noor got up.

Jenne stood in front of him.

She looked at him for a second.

"Don't worry, wolf. His organs are fine. He'll be okay. Let's go," Jenne said, turning away.

"Oi! Wait, where are you going?! Weren't you worried about him?!" Ria shouted, annoyed.

"Humph… but Noor—hey—"

Noor walked out of the room without saying anything.

(I don't know what is real and what is fake anymore.)

He thought.

At the reception—

"Oi, Noor! Stop! You haven't been discharged yet!" Ashraf came running.

"I want to go home," Noor said coldly.

Ria and Jenne were standing behind them.

Breaking News:

More than 15 people found heavily injured in the construction site storeroom of Goldspire Academy… One of them is current state champion Roy… their injuries are fatal and life-threatening… The school is shut down and students evacuated… police believe it's a criminal organization's work or personal reasons… under investigation…

"Oh my god! Look at the karma!" Ashraf jumped in excitement—but suddenly went silent.

He glanced at Noor.

Noor walked away without saying anything.

Jenne and Ria stood silent.

"Wait—what about you two? Aren't you girls rivals?" Ashraf asked, confused.

"Oh, we got along."

"No, we're not."

Jenne walked away.

"Oi! Wait for me!" Ria yelled, following her.

Some days passed.

Noor was at the hospital where Suvro was admitted.

"I can't get the incident out of my head… was that even real?" Noor looked at the scar on his palm.

"No… the scar is still there.

So whatever it was… it gave me power.

It saved my life… helped me get revenge…"

He clenched his fist.

"…but the pain inside me keeps increasing. Who cares anyway."

Opens door.

Suvro glanced at him.

"Hey, bro," Suvro said.

"How are you doing?" Noor asked.

"I'm fine. The doctor said I can go home tomorrow.

I'm so embarrassed… even while pooping I needed another person's help—haha!" Suvro laughed.

Noor smiled a little.

"But Noor… about the incident… was that you?"

Noor froze.
