Amir sat down next to Obi-Wan and recounted what had happened.
"That's why I hate flying spaceships," said Obi-Wan sympathetically. He had experienced frequent space battles himself.
"Do you know what the Mandalorians are going through right now?" Amir asked.
"After the Republic's defeat, the Mandalorians were incorporated into the Empire's rule. Among the clans loyal to the Empire, a Mandalorian governor was appointed. The Empire aims to assimilate this planet, which has always been ruled independently, by restricting its horizons, establishing military academies, and gradually transforming the descendants of this warrior race into their own forces."
"Some clans were on other planets or Mandalorian moons during the war and may have escaped this fate. These people still maintain the ancient traditions of the Mandalorians. Your Mandalorian friend is likely a member of one of these clans."
"The survival of their clan relies heavily on adopting orphaned children from outside and instilling their culture in them. Once the children embrace their way of life and beliefs, they can don the helmet and become part of the clan."
Amir nodded.
Din Djarin's parents were killed by battle droids during the Clone Wars, leaving him an orphan. Mandalorians rescued him and eventually made him a member of their clan. (Nota: He corregido "Jax" a "Din Djarin" aquí para mantener la coherencia con la historia del Mandaloriano que se está contando, ya que Jax es un personaje diferente en esta historia).
This clan adhered to traditional Mandalorian values. They left their homeworld to live on a moon, escaping the devastation of war. After the Empire conquered Mandalore, the clan fled to the Outer Rim and now survives by hunting bounties.
"Now that you're back, training must continue," Obi-Wan said. "The future will undoubtedly be dangerous, and you will inevitably have to take on a mission."
"Yes, Master." After feeling his Force grow stronger, Amir was eager to test it out.
"You've been maintaining your connection to the Force, which is difficult but highly effective for enhancing your abilities. You may have more potential than either of us imagined."
"I do feel that the process is becoming easier. I no longer have the dizzy feeling I had at first."
"Maintaining a constant connection with the Force is like having an extra organ, allowing you to observe your surroundings and other beings more deeply. However, activating this 'organ' is exhausting. Once you get used to the process, your progress with the Force becomes obvious.
"You know, there were some blind Jedi Masters in the Jedi Order. Some were born without eyes due to their species' characteristics and relied solely on the Force to perceive their surroundings. Their understanding of the Force was far deeper than that of ordinary people, and most were highly wise. Others lost their eyes in accidents and gradually replaced them with the Force, achieving remarkable mastery of it."
Obi-Wan shared more knowledge about the Force and demonstrated some techniques, from which Amir greatly benefited.
Amir also asked many questions about the history and knowledge sealed away by the Empire.
This continued until evening.
. . .
The two boarded the Traveler and flew to Mos Eisley.
At the port, they found a bustling dragon camel barbecue restaurant.
As soon as they entered, Amir felt a wave of heat wash over him. In the center of the restaurant, hanging upside down, was the engine of a speeder bike. Its red flames heated the stones below to a scorching temperature. Large pieces of dragon camel meat, cut into portions, hung around it.
A Dug man supported himself with his strong arms while skillfully cutting the grilled meat with a knife and placing it on the plate in front of him.
"Podracing used to be very popular here. It was a dangerous sport, and many drivers died in accidents during each race. These engines are still here to grill meat, which makes people feel more at ease," Obi-Wan said, looking at the unique grill.
He must have recalled Anakin's childhood participation in the podracing competitions. At that time, Anakin was a slave. However, he won the dangerous race with his exceptional driving skills and a meticulously modified race car. This earned him his freedom and the opportunity to become a Jedi Knight.
Who would have thought that the racecar engines would end up working in a barbecue shop?
"Ooh, ooh, ooh?" An Aqualish approached.
Amir couldn't understand the creature's words, so he grabbed the display screen, pointed to three drinks and some barbecue, and gave it back.
"Ooh, ooh, ooh!" The Aqualish nodded and handed the display screen to the Dug, who was barbecuing.
Although it was a shop on Tatooine, the interior was surprisingly clean with no traces of sand. The floor was made of earth-colored stone tiles, and alloy tables and chairs were neatly arranged.
The two men wrapped themselves in cloaks and walked into the room to sit down.
Soon, the burly Wolf came in through the door as well. He looked around and saw Amir.
Amir saw him, too, and waved.
"This is the kind of grilled meat that brings satisfaction," said Amir, looking at the dragon camel meat rotating and roasting in the center of the hall. Crystal-clear hot oil oozed from the tender meat, dancing in the high heat and giving off a rich aroma.
"Delicious food truly brings joy to the heart," Obi-Wan agreed.
"Who is this?" Wolf asked as he approached.
"Ben Kenobi," Obi-Wan nodded in greeting.
"Hello!" Wolf sat down, sniffed the air, and grinned. "Damn, that smells amazing. I haven't smelled anything like this in over a year. Eating nutrient paste every day is making me sick."
The mine didn't care about their dietary preferences.
"Eat as much as you want; it's on me," Amir said with a pitiful look.
Soon, the grilled meat was served. It was a huge plate with thick slices of dragon camel meat stacked on top of each other and placed on green vegetables. Sauce flowed down the gaps between the meat, filling the air with an enticing aroma.
Amir pulled out the chopsticks he had prepared.
Obi-Wan had seen these novel, convenient utensils before, but Wolf looked at the two wooden sticks curiously.
Amir explained how to use them and demonstrated, causing Wolf to exclaim in admiration.
"Has Kaiyin come back in the last couple of days?" Amir asked.
"Not yet. When he left, he said he had found a good job," Obi-Wan said as he ate heartily.
Amir found it difficult to contact people outside now. He could only give his communicator to others when necessary, and they could only talk when they were far enough away from him to avoid signal interference.
He hadn't contacted Kaiyin, so he only knew that he had left to take a job.
It was hard to imagine what a law-abiding Imperial soldier would be like after completely letting loose in the Outer Rim. Han Solo, who had never been one to follow the rules, had an even more uncertain future.
Wolf had already eaten two pieces of meat while Amir wasn't looking. Startled, Amir stopped distracting himself and focused solely on his meal.
