Cherreads

Chapter 62 - Chapter 63: Crafting a Lightsaber

Amir finally stopped eating once his stomach was full.

"Good." He belched with satisfaction and drank some soda to cut the richness.

Because he trained daily, he didn't have to worry about gaining weight, so he could eat whatever he wanted.

"I should have come here years ago," Obi-Wan said regretfully.

"I once ate roasted dragon camel at a leisure space station, but the local version is still the best," Wolf agreed. Dragon camels are native to Tatooine. These massive herbivorous creatures are typically used for transportation or to carry cargo.

But there were always exceptions. No trade, no slaughter. Amir wiped the greasy residue from his lips.

Due to their massive size, a single dragon camel, standing over four meters tall, could feed several restaurants in Mos Eisley for an entire night. Some parts even needed to be shipped off-world.

After finishing their meal, the three of them returned to the Traveler instead of going back to Obi-Wan's hut. Instead, they each found a room on the ship to rest.

Amir wasn't tired, so he closed his eyes and began to meditate.

He recalled everything Obi-Wan had taught him that day and used the Force to control a pen, awkwardly writing and drawing on a piece of paper.

The size of an object has little effect on its ability to be controlled from a distance by the Force. What matters is the connection between you and the object through the Force.

As long as you can sense an object's presence in the Force, you can perform the simplest form of control. However, the better you understand an object, the easier it is to control.

Amir had made this pen himself, using the simplest carbon core and a well-fitting pen barrel.

He knew the pen inside and out, so controlling it was easy. The challenge lay in manipulating it to write smoothly. At first, it was awkward, but repeated practice helped Amir refine his use of the Force and master the process.

"My connection to the Force has indeed grown stronger," Amir muttered to himself. Previously, when he focused all his senses, he could barely confirm the status of each part of the Traveler. Now, this process has become effortless.

After struggling to jot down important knowledge and history, Amir finally opened his eyes.

Feeling bored, he picked up the lightsaber on the table in front of him.

He had retrieved this lightsaber from Sain's Jedi fighter, and Sain still didn't know that he could activate it.

Gripping the hilt, he spun it around twice. Amir couldn't shake the feeling that something was off—the feel and weight of the sword weren't tailored to him but rather to its original owner.

The Jedi Order once had a specialized robot that designed the first lightsabers for young apprentices.

After obtaining Kyber crystals that resonated with them on the icy planet Ilum, young Jedi would select various components from the droid and assemble their lightsabers.

This process ensured that the lightsaber fit their hands perfectly and gave them a deeper understanding of their weapon, allowing them to use it with ease and confidence.

The Kyber crystal was also of great importance. It was a crucial component of the lightsaber. Additionally, a Kyber crystal that resonated with its user under the influence of the Force could sharpen the lightsaber's blade and enhance the user's perception of the Force.

Amir set down the lightsaber and reached for the Kyber crystal hanging on his chest.

It was the one Gulina had given him. When he took out the crystal, he felt momentarily disoriented, as if he could see the crystal glowing.

"Is that the legendary resonance?"

Gulina had said that the crystal wanted to be with him.

Amir felt a gentle force drawing him closer to the crystal.

He removed the green string and took the crystal out.

"It's time to make my own lightsaber," he thought.

. . .

He walked out of the room and pulled Obi-Wan, who was meditating, to the workbench.

Although he had a general idea of what was needed to make a lightsaber, it was safer to have an experienced guide, since there were dangerous parts to the construction process and a single mistake could lead to an explosion.

One should make full use of a teacher's knowledge.

"To make your own lightsaber, you need a Kyber crystal, my dear apprentice," Obi-Wan said, looking tired as he emerged.

Amir showed him the green crystal.

Obi-Wan's eyes widened. "A perfect crystal. It must have formed at the tip of a stalactite in a completely sealed, massive cave with no impurities. Beautiful green."

"But the crystal and the Jedi must choose each other; otherwise, it's difficult to unleash its full power."

After a moment, he added, "It does seem to be closely connected to you. Where did you get it?"

Obi-Wan was filled with questions.

"The Force brought it to me," Amir replied casually.

"Impressive."

Then, Obi-Wan began explaining the composition and assembly of a lightsaber to Amir.

Amir had stored a variety of components on his ship, more than enough to build a lightsaber.

"This is the best battery I have on my ship," Amir said, studying its internal structure.

"This battery's energy is too strong. You need a better energy insulator and vortex ring to control it so that all the energy passes through the Kyber crystal instead of dispersing in all directions and causing an explosion," Obi-Wan patiently instructed.

"But strong energy is also a good thing. The lightsaber blade will be more compact, and its cutting power will be greater."

After adjusting the energy control devices, Amir made an alloy base to secure the crystal, leaving some space above it for storing the energy converted by the crystal. The transparent space above would focus the energy crystals.

The energy passing through the Kyber crystal would split at the crystal and reach a stable circuit through the lines.

The energy would be transmitted upward to form a light blade while the other side would return to the negative terminal of the battery.

This way, the lightsaber would not consume too much energy or emit heat when not in contact with an object. The lightsaber would only be instantly activated when it came into contact with something, using extremely high energy to melt and cut through whatever was blocking it.

Finally, a series of components for adjusting the light blade were added to the top of the lightsaber, completing the inner core of the sword.

After finishing, Amir and Obi-Wan both sighed in relief.

Amir, who usually assembles a motorcycle in just fifteen minutes, had spent nearly two hours on this.

"You must be crazy. This lightsaber is too unstable. You must assemble it outside the spaceship and keep it far away from me," said Obi-Wan, shaking his head.

"It's not my fault. There's only this stuff on the spaceship."
