Chapter 400 - Chapter 400: The Difference Between Gods — What Humans Bestow and What the World Grants

This was the divine deity system of the Godslayer's world.

Not the gods who defied the established order — not the 不从之神 who emerged from mythology — but their original forms as they existed within the myths themselves.

Which raised the question: was the World Will of Luo Hao's world trying to help her ascend to godhood?

How could it not trouble him — a person with a Godslayer's位格, yet the world sought to clothe her in a divine identity?

And according to Luo Hao's own account, as her martial arts and Authorities advanced, her emotions were gradually disappearing. If she truly achieved godhood through a Godslayer's rank, would she still possess human feeling?

But a divine system — even the gods who defied their own myths — shouldn't affect emotions. That wasn't how deity worked. What Luo Hao was experiencing was more akin to 天道.

True supreme emotional detachment.

"The World Will?"

Luo Hao frowned. She'd suspected as much before, but confirmation still brought a wave of unease.

Why would the World Will take notice of her?

The protagonist of her world wasn't her — it was Koutarou Kusakabe.

She hadn't gone out of her way to change the world's trajectory. Koutarou had still become a Godslayer.

The only difference was that she'd slain the fighting victory Buddha imprisoned on the island nation before Koutarou achieved Godslayer status — preventing the connection with Koutarou that she'd seen in the memory副本.

Was that enough to draw the World Will's attention?

Or was it because she'd broken through the Godslayer's位格?

"If you're willing, I can leave a mark on you. Until the power within it fades, the World Will won't be able to influence you."

"But I can't determine the World Will's intentions toward you."

"Its attention might not be a bad thing. You might gain something from it in the future — but gaining always comes with loss."

"Which matters more: the gain, or what you give up? No one can decide that for you."

"So — you need to make this choice yourself."

Bai Xuan looked at Luo Hao.

He could leave a fragment of a different World Will's power on Luo Hao — one from outside the Godslayer's world. Until that fragment faded, the Godslayer's world's World Will would struggle to act on her, regardless of its purpose.

But he couldn't determine the World Will's attitude.

Logically, since Luo Hao was a native of her world, after discovering her changes the World Will should provide more support — hoping she'd guide the world to a new level.

But the emotional detachment, the divine aura now lingering on her — it made another possibility impossible to ignore.

The World Will might be trying to bind Luo Hao to itself, like a Heaven's Principle Agent and 天道. Her strength would surge to the world's ceiling in a short time, but at the cost of many things.

But none of this was certain. It depended on Luo Hao's own choice.

Perhaps, compared to strength, Luo Hao cared nothing for her emotions.

"I'll trouble you."

Luo Hao made her decision without hesitation.

Since the benefits couldn't be determined, she would assume the worst — approach it with the most hostile interpretation.

Though the World Will had helped her strength, that help couldn't last forever.

Someday, she would reach the world's limit.

At that point, what she could rely on was still only the chat group.

Without the World Will's assistance, she'd simply reach the world's ceiling more slowly.

Rather than pay an unknown price for a temporary boost, she'd rely on herself from the start.

"Alright."

Bai Xuan heard Luo Hao's decision and nodded. A wisp of concentrated golden light gathered at his fingertip, then landed on Luo Hao's brow.

Arcane符文 flickered with light across her forehead, then gradually faded into concealment.

"I'm borrowing the rules of this world. This may not be enough to resist the corruption of your world."

"After the mission ends, I'll condense another one for you."

Because of his unique nature, Bai Xuan could borrow a portion of the world's power. Otherwise, even having entered the Divine Realm, he couldn't have wielded rules so easily.

But because his current location was Saeko's world, he could only borrow this world's rules.

Worlds had hierarchies. This world was weaker than the Godslayer's world.

"Thank you."

"Don't mention it."

After the exchange, both fell silent.

Neither was particularly talkative to begin with — and Luo Hao had the emotional detachment on top of it. Bai Xuan had nothing he felt needed saying.

Bai Xuan gazed down at the land below. The angel soldiers commanded by Angel Cold were clearing every interdimensional species from Huaxia's territory.

Massive body size didn't make them intimidating — it just made them conspicuous, telegraphing their position.

Strong defenses were relative. Against the angels' flame swords, they had zero resistance.

With Zhang Sanfeng, Zhang Zhiwei, Lin Fengjiao, and the others handling things, there was no need for Bai Xuan to intervene.

"The Divine Realm you've entered — how is it different from the gods who defy their own myths?"

As Bai Xuan gazed into the distance, Luo Hao spoke suddenly.

"I'm different from them. They bear the faith of humanity, the myths humanity composed. Their divine identity was granted by humans."

"I was granted Authority by the world as a mortal. Through the continuous evolution of my life form, I gradually came to understand and master that Authority — and so achieved godhood."

In the Godslayer's world, there were no gods at the beginning. Or rather — those beings weren't gods yet.

It was because humanity, under the vast sky and the great earth, found the shapes of gods. They feared the storms, floods, and wrath that divine anger might bring. They worshiped dangerous, powerful beasts as manifestations of the divine.

In time, humanity gave these beings names and identities, and composed myths for them.

And those gods who received names and myths were bound to carry out their duties exactly as their names and myths dictated. They couldn't act beyond the scope of their names and myths.

If they did — they would fall to become 不从之神 — gods who defied the established order.

Bai Xuan was different from them.

Their identity was granted by humanity. His was granted by the world.

Both were granted by something beyond themselves — but humanity and the world were entirely different concepts.

Through his growing familiarity with and analysis of the Nature Authority, even if the world someday revoked the Authority it had granted, Bai Xuan could still re-comprehend it through his own understanding of the Nature Authority.

And his divine-grade life form itself — the godhood he had become — no one could take that from him.
