Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Truck-Kun’s Apology

Kael Rean had always been a fan of One Piece.

Not in the casual way of watching episodes now and then, but the obsessive kind. The kind where theories lived rent-free in his head, and timelines were memorized like gospel. He and his childhood friends were so deep into it that they were weeks away from finishing an open-world One Piece game of their own. Race selection. Island origins. Fighting styles. Freedom.

During his commute to work that morning, Kael watched the final moments of Luffy's battle against Kaido on his phone, barely blinking.

"Oh my god," he muttered, gripping the steering wheel with one hand. "He actually beat Kaido. Devil Fruit awakening and everything."

The notification feed exploded with reactions. Praise. Hype. Arguments. And buried among it all, excitement for the teaser his team had dropped the night before. Players loved the idea of freedom. Of choice.

Kael smiled as he slowed to make the final turn toward the office.

He never saw the truck coming.

There was a flash of white. A sound like the world tearing. Then nothing.

When Kael became aware again, there was no pain, and his body was gone.

He drifted in an endless white space, weightless, featureless, silent. Panic crept in slowly, like a tide he could not outrun.

"No," he said, his voice echoing strangely. "This is a dream. This has to be a dream."

His breath became ragged.

"I can't die yet," Kael continued, spinning in place. "The game is almost done."

Footsteps echoed across the white void.

A silhouette emerged, tall and indistinct, wearing a massive straw hat that cast its face in shadow. Its presence pressed down on Kael's senses without hostility, but with undeniable authority.

"Kid," the figure said calmly, "you died. And for that, I owe you an apology."

Kael froze. "An apology?"

"Yes. That accident was not supposed to happen. You were meant to live into your late nineties."

The words hit harder than death itself.

"…Nineties?"

The figure nodded.

Kael screamed, but there was no sound. He froze as he thought of the decades stolen, his friends, the game, and everything unfinished.

After a long moment, he steadied himself. "So what happens now? Heaven? Hell?"

A faint smirk tugged at the silhouette's outline. "Neither. Since the fault lies with me, I am offering compensation. Reincarnation."

Kael stared. "Reincarnation… where?"

Kael couldn't believe it, "Are you serious about sending me to the One Piece world? Will I have a system like other reincarnators?"

The white space rippled. A familiar interface bloomed into existence, made of starlight and symbols Kael recognized instantly.

"The world of One Piece."

His breath caught. "That screen… that's our menu."

"I thought you might appreciate it," the entity said. "You may call me ROB."

A voice chimed softly.

Welcome, Kael Rean.

You have been granted 500 points to customize your reincarnation.

Each race comes with inherent traits, strengths, and weaknesses inspired by the lore. Choose wisely."

• Human: The most adaptable and common race. Decent in all areas, no major weaknesses. Great for users of Devil Fruits or Haki specialists. Cost: 20 points

• Fish-Man: Aquatic powerhouses with immense strength (10x human average) and water mastery. Excel in swimming and karate styles, but weaker on land. Cost: 50 points

• Merfolk: Graceful underwater dwellers, faster swimmers than Fish-Men. Can split tails into legs on land. Ideal for speed-based fighters. Cost: 45 points

• Giant: Towering behemoths with overwhelming physical power and durability. From Elbaf or elsewhere. Slow but unstoppable in battle. Cost: 80 points

• Tontatta Tribe: Tiny, agile, and incredibly fast. Superhuman speed and strength relative to size. Masters of stealth and crafting. Cost: 40 points

• Longarm Tribe: Extended arms for reach advantages in combat. Enhanced dexterity for multi-weapon styles. Cost: 35 points

• Longleg Tribe: Elongated legs for powerful kicks and mobility. Perfect for leg-based martial arts, such as Sanji's style. Cost: 35 points

• Snakeneck Tribe: Stretchable necks for unique vantage points and attacks. Rare, with potential for observation perks. Cost: 30 points

• Three-Eye Tribe: Rare ability to awaken a third eye for potential future sight or Voice of All Things reading. High mystical potential. Cost: 70 points

• Mink Tribe: Anthropomorphic animals with natural Electro abilities. Feral strength, enhanced senses, and Sulong transformation under a full moon. Cost: 60 points

• Sky Islander (Skypiean): Winged humans from the sky islands. Dial technology affinity and mantra (basic Observation Haki) potential. Cost: 50 points

• Sky Islander (Shandian): Warrior-like sky people with wings. Strong combat traditions and survival skills. Cost: 55 points

• Sky Islander (Birkan): Goat-horned sky dwellers with unique wing styles. Affinity for heat dials and aerial combat. Cost: 50 points

• Lunarian: Ancient, near-extinct race with flame generation, flight, and extreme durability. God-like traits, but hunted by the World Government. Cost: 100 points

• Buccaneer: Bear-like hybrids with giant blood. Immense strength and resilience, tied to ancient secrets (like Nika lore). Cost: 90 points

• Oni: Demonic giants with horns and savage power. Enhanced regeneration and ferocity, like Kaido's kin. Cost: 85 points

• Ancient Giant: Prehistoric colossal beings, far larger than standard giants. Godly strength, but extremely rare and cumbersome. Cost: 120 points

Hybrid Option: Fuse any two races above for combined traits (e.g., Fish-Man + Mink for aquatic Electro user). Gain the strengths of both races, though incompatibility may introduce certain drawbacks. Cost: Sum of both races' points (e.g., Human + Giant = 20 + 80 = 100 points)

Kael took everything in as he read over the list of races.

If he still had lips, he would be smirking. "This is a no-brainer. Let's go hybrid and choose Buccaneer and Oni. I'll be strong like Kuma and Whitebeard, who are both Buccaneers and have the durability like Kaido and Yamato."

ROB inclined its head. "An ambitious choice. Buccaneers possess monstrous endurance and strength, heirs to ancient secrets tied to the Sun God. Oni carry raw power and fearsome presence, a bloodline that once rivaled dragons."

Kael nodded. "Like Kuma and Kaido. That is exactly what I want."

"Be aware," ROB continued, "you will draw attention. The World Government hunts what it does not understand."

"I can live with that."

The interface confirmed his choice.

Hybrid Selected: Buccaneer + Oni

Remaining Points: 325

Base Stats Menu

These are your foundational attributes, starting at average human levels (on a 10/100 scale). Points buy increases: 1 point = +1 to a stat (up to racial caps). Your hybrid gives bonuses: +20 Strength/Durability from Buccaneer-Oni traits, +10 Stamina/Regeneration. Max any stat at 50 to start (room for growth via adventures/Haki/Fruits).

• Strength: Raw power for lifting, striking, and intimidation. (Base: 20 + racial bonus = 40) Cost per +1: 2 points

• Speed/Agility: Mobility, dodging, and quick strikes. (Base: 10) Cost per +1: 2 points

• Durability: Tank hits, resist damage/poison. (Base: 20 + racial bonus = 40) Cost per +1: 2 points

• Stamina/Endurance: Fight longer, recover faster. (Base: 10 + racial bonus = 20) Cost per +1: 2 points

• Intelligence: Strategy, invention, lore recall (your fan knowledge boosts this). (Base: 15) Cost per +1: 1 point

• Perception/Senses: Spot hidden foes, early Haki potential. (Base: 15) Cost per +1: 1 point

• Charisma/Luck: Recruit allies, find treasures, or bend fate slightly. (Base: 10) Cost per +1: 3 points (rarer to boost)

Example: Spend 20 points for +10 Strength (total 50), making you a monster from day one.

Kael floated there, his light-form pulsing with excitement as he mentally crunched the numbers. "Alright, let's make this build count. I want to be a well-rounded powerhouse."

Improved Stats:

• Strength: 50

• Durability: 50

• Speed: 40

• Stamina: 40

• Intelligence: 40

• Perception: 40

• Charisma: 25

Remaining points: 90

The screen updated seamlessly, confirming his allocations. His base stats now painted the picture of a young juggernaut in the making, strong enough to topple buildings, durable like a walking fortress, and smart enough to outthink pirates twice his age.

Next, the Island of Birth menu materialized, shimmering with options that screamed adventure.

Island of Birth Menu

Note that your starting point will influence your culture, allies, threats, and plot hooks. Costs reflect danger/reward, cheaper for safe starts, pricier for high-potential ones. Includes age at start (baby for long buildup, teen for faster action).

• East Blue (e.g., Foosha Village): Peaceful, low threats. Near Luffy's start, easy Straw Hat crossover. Start as a teen. Cost: 20 points

• West Blue (e.g., Ohara-inspired island): Knowledge-heavy, potential for Poneglyph ties. Moderate pirates. Start as a child. Cost: 30 points

• South Blue (e.g., Karate Island): Martial arts focus, build fighting style early. Balanced threats. Start as a teen. Cost: 25 points

• North Blue (e.g., Germa-like tech island): Advanced science, raid suit potential. High intrigue. Start as a child. Cost: 35 points

• Grand Line (Paradise, e.g., Alabasta): Desert adventures, ancient ruins. A solid moderate‑high threat tier, making it excellent for early bounty progression. Start as a teen. Cost: 50 points

• Grand Line (New World, e.g., Wano): Samurai culture, Oni ties fit perfectly. High threats (Yonko proximity), epic growth. Start as a baby for immersion. Cost: 80 points

• Sky Island (e.g., Skypiea): Aerial starts, dial tech. Isolation but unique perks. Start as a teen. Cost: 60 points

• Fish-Man Island: Underwater world, racial synergy if aquatic, but discrimination plots. High adventure. Start as a child. Cost: 70 points

• Custom/Random: Design your own island or let fate decide (could be calm or chaotic). Cost: 40 points (plus extras for specifics)

Bonus: Add "Noble Birth" (+20 points for wealth/connections) or "Slave/Orphan" (-10 points refund for underdog story).

Kael's essence flickered. "Random island in the East Blue, let's keep it simple and surprising. Cost 40 points, and I'll take the 'Orphan' bonus for that underdog vibe, which refunds 10, so net 30 points. Leaves me 60 for the system."

ROB's silhouette bore a faint smile, as if knowing exactly which East Blue island fate or mischief had in store. The screen locked in: A random island in the East Blue, starting as a child, orphaned, but with the vast seas ahead.

Finally, the System Perks menu appeared, the last piece of his customization.

System Perks Menu

Game-like features to leverage your dev background. These are optional but fun—think litRPG elements. Costs vary by utility.

• Status Screen: View your stats, skills, and inventory anytime. Basic HUD. Cost: 20 points

• Skill Tree: Unlock abilities via points/experience (e.g., branch into Haki or Devil Fruits). Cost: 40 points

• Inventory System: Store items in a pocket dimension (limited slots at start). Cost: 30 points

• Quest Log: Get missions with rewards (e.g., "Train Strength: +5 points"). Ties into the plot. Cost: 35 points

• Map/GPS: World map with markers, updates as you explore. Cost: 25 points

• Growth Booster: Double XP from training/fights for the first year. Cost: 50 points

• Meta-Knowledge Filter: Blur spoilers if you want immersion, or enhance recall. Cost: 15 points

• Custom Perk: Invent one (e.g., "Respawn once" or "Animal Companion"). Cost: 50+ points (based on power)

Kael pondered, then made a bold play. "I want something custom, the 'Fourth Flame' system. Summon allies, quests, ship upgrades, treasure maps, and inventory… but to balance it, I'll trade my knowledge of everything after the Wano arc. No spoilers beyond that, keep it fair and exciting."

A ripple of approval ran through ROB's form, prompting the interface to adapt around him. "Deal struck. Knowledge sealed. Fourth Flame System unlocked for 60 points."

[System Functions:] • Summon System (5 slots) • Quest Log • Ship Upgrade Tree • Treasure Map Archive • Inventory

[Summon Slots Available:] • 1 Dead (Locked – No valid candidates) • 1 Prime Era (Available) • 3 Current Timeline (3 Available)

The interface finalized everything, points hitting zero. ROB's voice echoed one last time: "Build complete. Enjoy the seas, kid. Make it legendary."
