At almost mid-day, Shirley saw two stone placed one on top of the other, and called out, "Guy's, I think you should come and see this!"
The rock on top had the letter 'I' carved into it, and the bottom rock had what looked like a 'U'.
"Wow, could it be some sort of message?" Alex asked, studying it carefully.
"Maybe Rebecca's team left it," Maryann suggested.
"But no one on her team had names beginning with either I or U," Arya said.
"Looks like I sitting on top of U," laughed Darian.
I on U... could it have been Patricia who left this message; meaning eye on you? Arya thought about it, and it made sense. Alfa will definitely keep an eye on them, especially her.
"Arya, there's another problem," Amelia said.
"What happened?" Arya asked.
"The water bottles may have been left behind!" She answered.
"What? How?... who was in charge of food and water?" Arya asked, looking around at her team, who had followed her to the bags they were carrying.
"Shirley! It was Shirley's job," Alex said, pointing at the short girl, who looked up in shock.
"No! It wasn't me you jerk!" Shirley defended herself. "I think it was your job, that's why you're blaming me..."
"That's enough! We have to find water," Arya said.
She looked around and spotted Zyban. She went towards him, "Hey Zyban, where can we get some fresh water? My team was so busy they forgot to bring the bottle water."
"There's a lake on the other side of the forest that has clean, drinkable water. If you want, I can take you there!"
"That would be awesome. Lead the way," Arya said, as she turned and gestured for her friends to follow them.
Half way through, Amelia groaned. "How far is it? My legs are killing me!"
"Five more minutes, Miss," one of Zyban's men said.
"Amelia, you can drive every vehicle in this world, and you can't drive your own two feet," Alex laughed.
"Oh just zip it bones," Amelia said angrily.
Soon, they came to a beautiful clearing. In front of them was a lake, with clear as glass waters.
"Can we also swim in that?" Darian asked Zyban.
"Yes, you can. Just be careful, it's deeper than it looks," he got his reply.
Amelia ran to it, and bent down, cupping her palms to drink. She took large gulps of water, and so did the others.
They decided to have their lunch there, by the waters edge. Arya offered some sandwich to their bodyguards, but they politely refused.
After eating and drinking fresh, clean water, they decided to rest for a while. Darian, on the other hand, decided to dive in... and one by one, they all stripped off their clothes and jumped into the heavenly waters. All except Arya.
She sat there, taking in the breeze and the beauty. It was a very long while since she came here. She remembered her grandfather and she would come here and drink, and then rest.
There was a sudden loud scream. Everyone looked to where the sound came from. Then there was another heart wrenching scream. It sounded like a woman in pain.
Arya's team got out of the water and got dressed, as Zyban walked closer to them. "Miss Hunter, stay together. My team is going to investigate," he said, looking at his men. He nodded, and three of them went into the forest.
Suddenly, there was smoke everywhere and as everyone coughed and moved away from each other, Arya felt a hand grab her wrist, and before she could make a sound, she was pulled somewhere else.
Looking around, she saw that she was with Patricia in a small house.
"I'm sorry I had to do this! I had no other choice," the long haired woman said.
"It's OK. What's going on? I saw your message," Arya asked.
"After I left this morning, I felt like someone was watching me. I realized someone was following me. Then I heard Alfa tell someone that he wants to catch us talking together, and make it look like I betrayed you," Patricia said, looking worried.
"You heard? How?"
"You don't know anything about your original pack, do you?"
Arya shrugged, "no! I just found out all this a day before I came. Till then, I was just a normal human, with human desires and ambition."
"Well, your great grandfather was the Alfa of Moonstone pack, and his Luna was a witch..."
Considered one of the smaller packs, Moonstone pack only had an estimated 70 to 90 pack members.
Arya's grandfather, Michael Moonstone was born into peace and love. Having a witch as his mother came with many advantages, disguise being one of them. Michael could suppress his wolfs scent, and enter other territories, without any problem. Days were peaceful. Mark was born, baring the same abilities.
Then, he met his mate, in the Moonsglow pack. Moonsglow pack was one of the largest and cruelest pack out there. No other pack could fight it, because it was said that the older Alfa of that pack once saved a vampire and whenever they went into battle, the vampires would help them.
Alfa Kane would collect women and girls from every pack he defeated, and kept them as his trophy.
When Alfa Kane heard about Anna and Kimberly, he had wanted them too, but their mother didn't allow him to take her girls. Kane couldn't fight with her, because she was an alfa's daughter, and fighting her would mean calling a war.
Then Mark, Arya's father and Anna, Arya's mother met. They couldn't resist each other and came together. Kimberly had gone to college by that time.
When Alfa Kane heard about this, his jealousy got the better of him, and he gave him three choices: 1, he can reject Anna, and go back to his pack, 2, he can stay in this pack forever, and forget about his pack, or 3, they all die.
Mark chose to return to his pack with his mate, but it was too much for Kane to bare, so he lodged a full war on Moonstone pack. Many died, and the old Luna, with her witch powers, made a special pendant, the moonstone and in it, put the ability to disguise your wolf, and the ability to use it as a weapon.
Being born into the moonstone blood line also gave Arya special abilities, but they won't know what until Arya turned into a wolf.
