Rain poured down mercilessly, soaking Michelle within seconds. It seemed that even the heavens cried at her pitiful life, and the night sky was pitch black.
Arya arrived and noticed Michelle standing in the rain near the bus stop outside the Moonsglow pack. Even in this heavy downpour, Arya could tell that Michelle was suffering internally.
She pulled over near Michelle and opened the door. Michelle got in quietly, closed the door, and pulled her seatbelt, not saying anything.
Arya didn't ask. She just drove off toward their pack. The Rogue Pack.
Due to the rain, they arrived late, and the guards let them in. Arya drove straight to the pack house and stopped. She looked toward her passenger, who was still very quiet. Arya felt deep pain for her and knew something very bad happened. She didn't want to push Michelle to tell her, so she slowly called her name.
She didn't respond. Arya tried again, this time touching her shoulder, "Michelle, we're here!"
The green-eyed girl almost jumped. She looked at Arya, then at the house, and realizing where they were, opened the car door, and walked in.
Everyone stared. The pack house was full, as it was dinner time, and all conversations stopped, as all heads turned in her direction.
They watched as the traitor walked in, looking like a cat out of water. Her clothes were soaked and hugged her skin like a magnet, showing her underwear, and her hair was stuck on her head and forehead, and mascara was running down her cheeks.
But there was something else. Something dangerously calm about her. Her head was low, but she was giving killer vibes. It seemed like she would rip anyone's head off at any moment.
Rodriguez also noticed this, and he felt his heart ache. He knew that whatever happened back at Moonsglow pack wasn't good and that Michelle needed him.
The rogue Alpha walked towards his mate and stopped in front of her. Without looking up, Michelle collapsed in his arms, finally letting everything inside her heart pour out.
Rodriguez held her like his life depended on it. Everyone cleared the area, giving their alpha some privacy. Michelle hid her face in his chest and cried until no tears were left.
Arya had by now entered the hall, and she stopped, staring at the unsaid emotions that passed between them.
The air was thick with emotions, and for the first time in a while, Arya's eyes filled with tears. She had planned on using her to get to Alfa, and here she was, betrayed by that same man who she thought had saved her life.
Michelle hadn't told her what had happened, but her tears were screaming that Alfa had manipulated her into believing a lie.
Arya locked eyes with Rodriguez, and as if some coded message ran between them, they both nodded, and Rodriguez picked his mate up and walked towards his room.
Arya went to her room, grabbed some clean and fresh clothes, and went to Rodriguez's room to give it to Michelle. She took her time, as she didn't want to go when Rodriguez would be busy preparing the bath for her.
"How is she?" Arya asked when Rodriguez opened the door of his bedroom.
"She's... stable. Still in the bath... did she tell you anything?" Rodriguez asked.
Arya just shook her head negatively. "I didn't have the courage to ask her," she said.
"I think you should rest. And thank you for helping her."
"Thanks for lending me your car. Just remind me to take it to the car wash. The seat needs drying."
"No problem."
Arya went to her room but couldn't stop thinking about Michelle. She had gone through a lot, and now, she is suffering because she believed in a lie. God knows how she will get over all this.
Back in his room, Rodriguez sat on the bed, with Michelle sitting beside him. He held her hand, and she didn't react.
Michelle had stopped crying now and was staring into space. Only her puffy eyes told the story of how she was weeping hours ago.
"Michelle, what happened back there? You know I cannot see you like this! Just tell me, and maybe I can help ease your pain," Rodriguez asked, trying to make conversation, but Michelle didn't even look at him.
Rodriguez hugged Michelle, and she hugged back. She held him so tightly, Rodriguez 2as glad he was a wolf, or every bone in his body would have broken.
"He betrayed me," Michelle whispered. "He didn't say it, but his expression said it loud and clear." Michelle broke the hug and continued talking, "Arya mentioned a library of some sort, where they keep werewolf history. I need to look for this library and find out what exactly happened to my pack!"
Her eyes were shining, like she was about to strike lightning. If this was done by him or his pack, I swear to the Moon Goddess that I'll kill everyone present in his pack."
Rodriguez sat there listening. He nodded and asked, "Do you remember which pack you belonged to?"
"Wolfpaw pack," came the reply.
He just hummed, and Michelle noticed he was deep in thought.
"You know anything? Or heard anything about that pack?" She asked carefully.
She knew by their age difference that he wasn't even born when all this took place, but maybe he had heard about the Wolfpaw pack from elsewhere.
"I just know that back in those days, when Kane was the pack Alpha, he had destroyed many other packs just for the thrill of the hunt. It made him feel powerful, and others were just mere ants in front of him. So I doubt that your pack was attacked by rogues. It could have been Moonsglow pack!"
Michelle stared at him, her eyes brimming with tears that she thought had dried up. "If it is true, then... I had been helping the man who had destroyed my life, thinking that he had actually saved it," she said slowly, realizing the extent of her mistake.
"I even betrayed you," she continued as the tears rolled down her cheeks again. "I betrayed you thinking I was paying a life debt to him for saving my life."
"It wasn't your fault. You were manipulated ever since you were a pup to believe his lies. I would have done the same thing if I were in your place," Rodriguez said, and he realized his mistake as well. "I'm sorry. I treated you like garbage for being his mole. When the fact remains that you weren't trying to harm me or Arya, you were just trying to repay him for something he never did."
"I will make him pay! Kane and Genevieve and Alfa. I will make them all pay," There was something in her voice that made even Rodriguez flinch.
