Chapter 569 - No need to make such a big deal out of this, right?

Seeing that Lumine wasn't sure how to describe it, Miko decided to help her along — and since words alone felt a little awkward for that sort of topic, she simply demonstrated with actions instead.

It wasn't like Lumine hadn't done those things herself at this point, so Miko wasn't worried she wouldn't understand.

Though of course, given how hopelessly dense Lumine could be, there was always a chance she still wouldn't get it.

"So... you're trying to find out whether Kaito has any new... hmm... new tricks he wants to try?" Not having expected that to be Miko's angle, Lumine was a little surprised and asked again to make sure she'd understood correctly.

"Exactly — I want to see whether that guy has any weird little ideas about things he wants to do to us but never actually brings up." Miko nodded.

"Weird little ideas? I'm not sure he necessarily would..." Lumine said, somewhat uncertain. Then she continued: "But why don't you do it yourself, Miko?"

She had to admit — she was genuinely curious about that. Because from the sound of it, Miko clearly meant for her to go probe Kaito on her own, rather than the two of them ganging up on him the way they had yesterday.

"Weren't you the one saying it wasn't enough and you wanted more? Obviously that means you're the one who should go do something about it." Miko answered her question as though it were the most self-evident thing in the world.

"But Miko, aren't you just as unsatisfied?" Lumine immediately shot back.

She had said that earlier, sure — but Miko's own comments had amounted to more or less the same thing.

"Fine, fine — I'll do it then." This time Miko didn't bother arguing further and simply said she'd take care of it herself.

"Then Miko... when exactly are you planning to... do that?" Lumine hadn't expected Miko to just agree outright, and immediately felt a pang of having somehow talked herself out of something. She asked at once when Miko had in mind.

"That's a secret, little sis Lumine~" Knowing exactly what was going through Lumine's head, Miko smiled and deliberately told her it was a secret she couldn't share.

Lumine: "..."

She regretted it even more now. But she could hardly turn around and say she wanted to do it after all — the whole impression she'd just given was that she didn't want to.

Still, she did want to try it. So she pressed on: "But you've already told me what you're planning — it's not really a secret anymore, is it?"

"Of course it is. What if I told you the date and you went and tipped Kaito off in advance?" Miko maintained her position with a breezy refusal.

Since Lumine had already made it clear she didn't want to be the one to do it, Miko supposed she would just have to reluctantly take on the burden herself.

"But even if you don't tell me the date, I could still go tell Kaito about it." Lumine spotted a gap in Miko's logic.

"Oh, you're right — looks like I'd better deal with you first, little sis Lumine." As though suddenly reminded of something important, Miko began looking Lumine up and down with a slow, appraising eye — which promptly made Lumine rather nervous.

"There's no need to make such a big deal out of a small thing like this."

With the genuine feeling that Miko might actually do something to her, Lumine took a step back. After all, Kaito wasn't here — and she was no match for Miko on her own.

"Well, naturally..." Miko drew the words out deliberately, her voice low and slow, while continuing to advance on Lumine step by step — then suddenly burst out: "I'm just messing with you! Haha!"

Lumine: "..."

Having already backed up several paces, Lumine was, once again, completely speechless.

"What kind of big sister does things like that." Watching Miko laugh without any sign of stopping, Lumine said it with what sounded like genuine exasperation.

Honestly, she didn't have any particular objection to calling Miko 'big sis' — it was just that Miko was always startling her like this. It was nothing like how a big sister ought to behave.

"I suppose you have a point. In that case, I'll leave this mission to you." Taken off guard by Lumine essentially acknowledging her as the older sister, Miko's mood lifted at once and she immediately said so.

She'd really only meant to tease Lumine — but now that Lumine had actually called her 'big sis,' she could drop the act.

"I feel like you're just..."

"Call me 'big sis.' Come on, hurry up!"

Seeing that Lumine wasn't actually calling her 'big sis,' Miko cut her off and insisted.

Whatever else might be said — getting called 'big sis' was the important thing first.

"Big sis Miko."

Seeing how set on it Miko was, Lumine relented. Besides, if they were going by age, she was probably the youngest of the three of them — so it wasn't really wrong.

"Good, good — little sis Lumine." With that, Miko was satisfied.

Compared to that little Wendy, Lumine was so much easier to deal with. Back in Inazuma, Miko was always the one calling other people 'big sis' — it was nice to finally have someone call her that for once.

Of course, Wendy had done it too — but that little girl was obviously reluctant to keep doing it. Getting even one 'big sis' out of her had been like pulling teeth.

"So, big sis Miko — what if Kaito just says 'whatever you want' when the time comes? What am I supposed to do then?"

Since this whole scheme had been Miko's idea, Lumine figured she might as well ask about how to handle potential complications. She could think it through herself, but asking Miko was simpler — and since it was her plan, she'd probably already thought of the answer anyway.

"Then you don't do anything at all. You just sit there and see who cracks first — you or Kaito." Then, as though something had just occurred to her, Miko went on: "And Lumine — don't you dare get impatient when the time comes. Don't let your mind wander straight to that sort of thing. Make Kaito be the one to start."

Lumine: "???"

She hadn't expected Miko to think she'd be the one who couldn't wait. Lumine's mind was full of question marks.

"I'm not the one who's insatiably unsatisfied, big sis Miko — why would I be impatient?"

She might be calling Miko 'big sis' now, but a little sister ribbing her older sister was perfectly normal — especially when said older sister had been the first one to assume the little sister would be rushing to do that sort of thing.

"Oh ho — you've got some nerve, talking back to your big sister like that."

Since she had, in fact, said things along those lines earlier herself, Miko chose to come at Lumine from a different angle. Regardless of the context, a little sister talking back to her big sister was simply unacceptable.

"But big sis Miko, didn't you say that yourself?" Lumine continued to mutter under her breath.

"Looks like this little sister of mine needs some disciplining."

Seeing that Lumine was still at it, Miko decided she had better set the girl straight. Now that she was the big sister, she had a reputation to uphold.

"No, no, no — I'll stop, I'll stop."

Seeing that Miko was about to make good on the threat, Lumine quickly backed down.

"Do you admit you were wrong?"

"Yes, yes — big sis Miko, I know I was wrong."

Nodding quickly, Lumine knew she had to say it — she said it even before Miko could finish asking.

"That's more like it. Come on — let's go get breakfast. Mobius might show up soon."
