Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 - Fairy hunters 2

The fairies continued to attack the thick stone dome with their spears. Their spears began to dull, but they didn't care. Sooner or later, those who tried to invade their territory would have to leave. Although their spears might have worn out by then, they still had razor-sharp teeth with which they could easily kill them.

Although their species didn't feed on other living creatures like Humans, Elves, or Demi-Humans, they could, thanks to their sharp teeth, devour mana crystals. This posed no problem for their bodies, and they could easily hit them.

That's why there was no light in the part of the cave where Henryk and the others escaped from the Titan, because the fairies were eating the mana crystals. It didn't matter to them that when they ate the mana crystals, they deprived the cave of light because their wings glowed, so they didn't need the crystals' light to see clearly.

"Get out of there, you cowards!" shouted one of the fairies, her spear already broken from hitting the stone. "You have nowhere to run anyway!"

No one answered yet. None of the fairies had heard a single voice there. This irritated them. Had they really scared them so much that they sat there curled up in a ball, afraid to speak? However, that impression quickly vanished when the fairies heard a brazen voice.

"We're not running away, you stupid worms!" the young man shouted brazenly. "We're just not stooping to your pathetic level, you fucking savages! We could end your miserable lives at any moment. If you think we're hiding out of fear, you're bigger idiots than I thought! Ha ha ha!"

This was too much. The mocking laughter and words made the fairies' blood boil. They began to attack the stone dome with even greater ferocity. They had to get to this impudent youth at all costs and offer him the most painful death they could.

Suddenly, a hole the size of a shoebox appeared in the stone dome. Naturally, the fairies, consumed by rage, without hesitation flew into the dome like bees into their hive. They quickly regretted this decision.

Their vision was obscured by a gray-white color. They felt their eyes begin to water, and they began to choke on the choking smoke.

The fairies began to descend to the ground like birds after the Chernobyl explosion. They couldn't fly back up; they realized the danger too late. When all the fairies lost consciousness, the stone dome sank back into the earth, and the smoke slowly began to dissipate.

"Wow, that was amazing, Hen!" Someryn exclaimed in awe, having stopped covering his mouth with his worn-out shirt. "Those fairies are lying there as if they were dead! How did you do that?!"

"You saw it with your own eyes, you stupid idiot!" Ethan, who was wearing underwear but no pants, chided. "Your human buddy lit a fire in my pants with two stupid rocks! He spent like half an hour banging rocks against rocks to get the fire going and create that much smoke!"

"Never mind," the sorceress interrupted their conversation. "Let's move on while they're asleep."

"She's right," Henryk agreed. "Let's not stop unnecessarily."

The others nodded and continued on their way, searching for a way out of the cave.

"Damn, my hands hurt," he said, rubbing his hands.

It was true what Ethan had said. Henryk had been banging rocks against rocks to ignite his pants, creating smoke to suffocate the fairies, or at least knock them unconscious. When the smoke had filled the entire center section of the dome, he instructed Brina to make a small hole in the dome while he provoked the fairies.

The hardest task was lighting a fire with two stones. It was tedious and tiring.

While massaging his hands, Henryk mentally scolded himself for not leaving the responsibility of lighting Ethan's pants to someone else.

"Well, it's over. I'll be wiser next time," the young man muttered to himself, shrugging. "Although I'd rather never have to repeat such a situation again."

......

About an hour and a half later, the fairies who hadn't choked on the smoke began to wake up. They sighed heavily and rose to their feet. Their wings began to glow yellow again as they began to fly.

The fairies helped each other and counted the survivors. It turned out that out of 236 fairies, six of them had choked on the smoke and died.

"They will pay for this," one of the many fairies said, his clenched fist shaking with rage.

All the fairies began to shout the same words, demanding the death of those who had killed their brothers and sisters.

"Excuse me..." A calm voice suddenly spoke, belonging to someone the fairies didn't recognize.

"What now?!"

When the fairies turned to see who the voice belonged to, they immediately stiffened.

In front of him stood an Elemental Devourer, who, from what they knew, lived in another part of the cave. What they knew of his species was that he was very dangerous when angry. They never truly approached him, not wanting to be his prey. Now this terrifying monster stood before them, with another Elemental Devourer standing behind him.

"I don't want to disturb you, but I'm looking for someone. Have you seen anyone here?" the Titan asked, tilting his head to the side.

The fairies nodded in unison and then pointed further into the cave.

"Thank you very much," the Titan said, walking through the herd of fairies.

Suddenly, all the fairies felt their temperature plummet. They didn't have time to utter a single word as their entire bodies froze, and then all the frozen fairies fell to the ground, shattering like glass.

"Oh my, did I do that?!" The surprised Titan turned around and stared in shock at the shattered bodies of the fairies.

"Careless as usual," said the Earth Elemental Devourer. "Even though fairies are a rather aggressive species, you've forgotten how delicate they are."

"Damn it." The Titan exhaled, disappointed at his inattention. Then he shrugged as if nothing had happened and continued walking. "Oh well. Come on, let's keep going, brother."

The giant monster shook his head in disappointment and followed in his brother's footsteps, simultaneously trampling the shattered bodies of the fairies. No fairy survived this. Now the Elemental Eaters had to continue their journey through the darkness.
