As the battle resumed, Natsui and Gary shouted their commands simultaneously.
"Gyarados, use Aqua Tail!"
"Nidoking, Double Kick!"
Hearing the orders, both Pokémon quickly closed the distance. However, compared to the snake-like slithering of Gyarados, the smooth ice surface was not ideal for Nidoking's footing.
Once they were within range, Gyarados's massive tail began to swirl with water, while Nidoking leaped into the air to execute its Double Kick!
The next second, the two Pokémon clashed.
Nidoking's first foot had just struck Gyarados, but before its second foot could make a move, a loud whooshing sound filled the air. It turned its head just in time to see a thick tail sweeping towards its face!
Smack!
Nidoking was hit squarely and sent crashing heavily onto its side!
However, before it could get up, Gyarados had already slithered to its side. It opened its massive jaws and lunged down to bite Nidoking!
"Nidoking! Get up, now!"
At Gary's shout, Nidoking scrambled up from the ice, aimed the horn on its forehead at Gyarados's gaping mouth, and thrust forward viciously!
The attack stabbed directly into the inside of Gyarados's mouth!
In pain, Gyarados roared towards the sky, becoming even more furious and enraged. In an instant, it lost all reason, its massive body and head beginning to smash down wildly onto the Nidoking beneath it!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Ice shards flew and the ice surface cracked!
Nidoking was struck several times, seeing stars. Just as it struggled to rise, it was slammed headfirst back into the ice!
"This is a disaster!" Influenced by Gyarados's sheer ferocity, the announcer couldn't help but put himself in Gary's shoes, shouting frantically, "Gyarados has entered a rage and is using Thrash! Can the Nidoking beneath it withstand such brutal force!?"
Gary clenched his fists, his eyes fixed on his Pokémon.
Fortunately, after losing its senses, Gyarados's rage wasn't directed solely at Nidoking. In its blood-red eyes, everything in its surroundings was a target for destruction!
Sure enough, after smashing Nidoking a few times, Gyarados turned its fury on the nearby ice blocks!
Under its assault, the huge blocks of ice instantly shattered into pieces!
The ice dust that filled the air created a mist-like veil, making Gyarados appear and disappear within it.
Outside the field, the audience held their breath, seemingly witnessing for the first time just how ferocious and savage a monster Gyarados truly was!
Only then did Nidoking get a chance to breathe. Dragging its battered body, it escaped from an ice crater, moving out of Gyarados's attack range.
Breathing a small sigh of relief, Gary didn't have time to check on Nidoking's condition. Seeing that Gyarados was still in a rampage, he didn't want to miss this rare opportunity.
"Nidoking, use Poison Jab!"
Nidoking's horn glowed with a purple, toxic light. Despite its injuries, it began to run, charging towards Gyarados and finally stabbing it hard in the chest and abdomen!
Gyarados roared again. Although its enraged state prevented it from dodging in time, the attack caused it to turn its attention back to Nidoking.
Seeing this, and wanting to avoid a repeat of the previous thrashing, Gary had no choice but to have Nidoking temporarily retreat to a safe distance.
To his further disappointment, the Poison Jab had failed to trigger the poison effect!
Tch, is even Lady Luck not on my side today!?
From a distance, Natsui calmly watched the situation unfold. He had no intention of using the Poké Ball to help Gyarados snap out of its confusion. Instead, he waited until it had regained its senses on its own before speaking again.
"Gyarados, are you clear-headed now? Then use Aqua Tail one more time!"
Following Natsui's will, Gyarados's tail was once again enveloped in water.
However, as Gyarados charged forward, just as Nidoking was about to dodge, its foot slipped, and it unluckily took a fall!
This unexpected development caught Gary completely off guard. But despite this golden opportunity, Gyarados's Aqua Tail still failed to connect.
Just as it reached Nidoking, before it could make a move, a loud 'crack' echoed across the field. The ice beneath their feet had suddenly given way!
Underneath the ice was the deep, cold pool water. The two Pokémon had no time to react and plunged into the water below!
Splash!
Gary's face paled.
"This is bad!"
It wasn't just him; everyone, including the announcer, the audience, and anyone else watching the match, was completely stunned by this turn of events!
Only Natsui seemed to have foreseen it.
Or rather, it was through his deliberate planning that the battle between the two Pokémon had remained concentrated in that specific area!
After Jolteon's earlier Thunderbolt and Gyarados's Thrash, that section of ice had become incredibly fragile. When the two heavy Pokémon gathered in one spot, their combined weight caused the ice to shatter completely.
As a Water-type Pokémon, Gyarados was naturally in its element back in the water. But Nidoking, a Ground-type, couldn't swim at all. It struggled frantically for a few moments before sinking to the bottom, bubbles rising to the surface!
Glug... glug... glug...
"Nidoking!!"
Gary shouted at the pool and took out its Poké Ball, trying to recall it, but Nidoking was nowhere to be seen in the clear water!
Damn it!
"This..."
Facing an empty field, even the experienced announcer seemed to be at a loss for words, unsure of how to fill the silence.
The audience stared at the water's surface.
Although they couldn't see what was happening below, the violent ripples on the surface made it clear that Nidoking was being relentlessly attacked by Gyarados underwater!
Their curiosity piqued, they waited for another ten-plus seconds before the water gradually calmed down.
A few breaths later, Gyarados's mighty body suddenly burst out of the water, letting out a deafening roar at the surrounding audience!
Seeing this, the spectators finally understood that the battle had been decided beneath the waves!
On the other side, seeing no sign of Nidoking surfacing, Gary's heart sank to the bottom.
Natsui also knew that, given Nidoking's weight and inability to swim, it was impossible for it to get to shore on its own.
Therefore, he made a gesture to Gyarados. Gyarados nodded in understanding and dove back into the water.
A few seconds later, as the water rippled once more, Gyarados emerged, carrying the unconscious Nidoking on its tail and delivering it to the edge of the ice.
The crowd erupted in enthusiastic cheers.
Seeing this, without even waiting for the referee to raise his flag, the announcer boomed, "It's over! Absolutely incredible! The heavyweight battle between Nidoking and Gyarados on the Ice Field has been decided by an unexpected turn of events underwater!"
