Chapter 257 - Chapter 256: The Imposing Gyarados

Natsui shouted, "Gyarados, I'm leaving the rest to you!"

"No!"

Hearing Natsui give such a command, ignoring his plea, Dr. Quackenpoker's face changed. He immediately reached out, wanting to stop Natsui with brute force, but after taking just a few steps, he suddenly felt a bone-chilling cold sweep over his entire body.

Danger!

He shivered, froze in his tracks, and quickly looked beside Natsui. He saw that the cold, long-black-haired woman, who had been silent all this time, was staring at him coldly, the threat in her eyes almost tangible.

Although this woman looked somewhat delicate and didn't have a strong presence, for some reason, she seemed to exude an extremely dangerous aura at all times, which was just terrifying.

And above Natsui's head, a Haunter floated in mid-air, also staring at him with a playful gaze. A strange smile hung on its face, as if it wouldn't hesitate to make a move if he dared to take another step forward.

Halted by the presence of this human and Pokémon, Dr. Quackenpoker broke out in a cold sweat. He didn't dare to make any move, let alone say another word.

It wasn't that he was a coward, but those two stares were simply too frightening, sending shivers down his spine.

On the battlefield, hearing Natsui's command, Gyarados fought with even fewer reservations.

After the brief but intense battle, with several having been defeated by the other Pokémon, only ten wild Gyarados remained in the lake.

Now that Ash's and the others' Pokémon had retreated, the wild Gyarados had lost their targets. They surrounded Natsui's Gyarados, their red-glowing eyes fixed on it.

"RAWR!"

Seeing this one dare to attack its own kind, these Gyarados roared, their anger flaring even hotter, as if they wanted to tear this traitor who helped humans to shreds.

Faced with their provocation, Natsui's Gyarados showed no fear. Instead, it roared back with an even louder and more intimidating voice.

"ROOOAR!!"

One Gyarados, yet more arrogant and imposing than a whole swarm. If it were in the past, Ash and the others would never have dared to imagine it.

But the scene unfolding before them now was so astonishing that their jaws dropped, and they had to believe their eyes.

Startled by Gyarados's presence, the wild ones first paused instinctively. Then, as if feeling provoked, they became even more enraged and, as if sounding a battle cry, swarmed it.

In an instant, the dragons were in a frenzy. Eleven Gyarados clashed together, the lake's water churned wildly, waves rose and fell, soaring over ten meters high before crashing back onto the shore, turning into scattered droplets.

Although they were numerous, due to their size, only two or three wild Gyarados could attack at the same time.

This gave Natsui's Gyarados room to maneuver and catch its breath, preventing it from being immediately overwhelmed.

Sharp teeth, collisions, tail whips…

The most primal form of power was unleashed among these giant Pokémon. Without suppressing their nature, they released their strength based on instinct, and this bloody battle made the onlookers' hearts pound with fear.

Even the ground beneath their feet seemed to tremble.

Both humans and Pokémon watched the battlefield. The lakeside was unusually quiet, with only the roars and cries from the lake echoing in their ears.

Misty asked in a low voice, "Natsui… can Gyarados handle being outnumbered like this? Shouldn't you give it some commands?"

Natsui shook his head, also unsure.

"To be honest, in a battle between Pokémon of the same type, especially one against many, I wouldn't even know what to command. It's better to let it handle it on its own. We can step in to clean up the mess if it loses."

As they spoke, under Gyarados's incredible power, another wild Gyarados was quickly defeated.

However, although it had taken down one, Natsui's Gyarados had also sustained many new wounds. Under the siege, a large patch of its scales had even been bitten off, and blood dripped, dyeing the lake water below it red.

But even so, it fought on, seemingly oblivious to the pain, and set its massive jaws on another wild Gyarados.

Such a high-intensity battle rapidly consumed its stamina. Natsui watched with a tight frown, his heart filled with worry.

He hadn't expected it to turn out like this. He had only intended for Gyarados to break the stalemate, but he never thought it would turn into a civil war among its own kind.

With the battle having reached this point, it was too late to recall it to its Poké Ball, as it would affect its morale. So, he decided to let it go all out and unleash its full power.

Just then, Gyarados had already taken down one after another…

The scene was now beyond words. Gyarados was so strong, it was like a blood-soaked god of war.

When the last wild Gyarados fell before it, everyone's eyes widened in disbelief.

"It… it actually won!?"

"That's incredible!"

At that moment, blood covered Gyarados's entire body. Its scales seemed to be damaged to varying degrees, and it looked on the verge of collapse, barely standing on pure, tenacious spirit.

Under the gaze of many eyes, it stood amidst its unconscious kin, its body erect, its massive head held high, letting out a resounding draconic roar towards the sky…

"ROOOAR!!"

The sound was long and drawn-out, giving the impression that Gyarados was proclaiming to the world that it was the strongest of them all.

And at that very moment, the sun was slowly rising. Its first rays, shining on Kinnow Island, happened to fall upon Gyarados, as if draping it in a faint silver armor.

Gulp…

The sound of someone swallowing could be heard.

It was Dr. Quackenpoker. Staring at Gyarados, seeing this scene, he was utterly shaken to his core.

"I've seen countless Gyarados, but to be honest, one so…" he murmured, wanting to say 'brutal,' but feeling it was inappropriate in front of its trainer, he rephrased. "So… so powerful. This is the first time I've seen one. It's simply… too fierce… too strong."

Natsui was also filled with mixed emotions.

In his memory, Gyarados was still the Magikarp in the tank on the S.S. Anne, or the ferocious Gyarados that had shown its might at the Indigo Conference. He never thought it would have grown to such a height in such a short time…

And after this battle, it was as if it had undergone a metamorphosis, its confidence and strength greatly enhanced.

As everything calmed down, Misty looked around and asked cautiously, "Natsui… so… what do we do now?"
