Chapter 291 - Chapter 290: Arriving in Violet City

"Chikorita, are you okay!?"

Seeing Chikorita take so much damage, Casey's face changed, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.

Although it had only been two or three short days since she had set out on her journey, Casey had already formed a deep bond with it. During this time, although they had been constantly battling wild Pokémon, they had been on a winning streak, winning every battle with ease. They had never suffered such a heavy blow.

"Hang in there! Use Growl!"

Chikorita shook its head, dispelling the dizziness, and then let out a cute cry.

As a basic skill, many Pokémon can use Growl. Although it has no attack power, it lowers the opponent's attack power, which can be quite effective in some ways.

And as the cry reached Dratini's ears, since it went directly into its ears, even if it didn't want to be affected, Dratini couldn't stop the sound from being transmitted.

So even though it didn't look like much had changed, Natsui knew its attack had been weakened.

But in response, Natsui's expression remained unchanged.

From its performance just now, Chikorita's strength was not yet that great, and it didn't know many moves, just repeatedly using Tackle and Razor Leaf.

Compared to it, Dratini was much stronger and knew many more moves.

"It doesn't matter if its attack is lowered. Dratini, use Dragon Rage!"

Hearing Natsui's command, energy quickly gathered inside Dratini. The next second, a shockwave shot from its mouth, instantly hitting Chikorita.

Chikorita didn't even have a chance to dodge before it was knocked to the ground.

After being hit by two consecutive attacks, the damage was already too much, and it lost the ability to battle without any struggle.

Although this was also the first time Natsui had used Dratini in a battle against someone, it had been by his side for a long time and had already been well-trained.

Although both Pokémon were at a beginner stage, just as Natsui had expected, Dratini had easily defeated Casey's Chikorita with its superior strength.

Glancing at the fainted Chikorita, Sabrina said flatly, "Chikorita is unable to battle. Dratini wins."

"Chikorita!!"

Watching Chikorita slowly fall, Casey quickly ran forward and hugged it.

Fortunately, it had only fainted and was not seriously injured. Casey let out a sigh of relief, then looked up at Natsui, her tone full of disappointment. "I lost…"

In fact, after watching Natsui's matches at the Indigo Conference, she knew he had many powerful Pokémon. This time, for him to send out this Dratini was already a special consideration for her.

And she still couldn't win, which showed just how huge the gap between them was.

Natsui comforted her, "You did very well. Although you lost, Chikorita still has a lot of room to grow. I believe that before long, it will become a powerful Pokémon in its own right."

Hearing Natsui's comfort, perhaps because of her cheerful personality, although Casey was disappointed for a while, she quickly recovered.

"You're right, Chikorita will definitely become stronger!" she said, recalling Chikorita to its Poké Ball, then said with some envy, "But your Dratini is really amazing. My Chikorita was no match for it at all."

Walking up to Dratini, Natsui stroked its forehead as a reward, while smiling at Casey. "Don't be in a hurry. Your journey has just begun. I'm sure you'll catch many rare partners in the future too."

Hearing this, Casey hesitated slightly. "That may be so, but I still prefer Pokémon with yellow patterns, like Pikachu, Beedrill, and Electabuzz. It's always been my dream to form a team of them!"

At this, Sabrina finally couldn't help but ask, "Why are you so obsessed with Pokémon with patterns?"

Rubbing her nose, Casey had a brilliant smile on her face and said proudly, "Because my whole family are fans of the Electabuzz team! And Electabuzz is yellow, so that's why I want to have a lot of Pokémon with patterns."

So that's the reason…

Glancing at the yellow-striped clothes Casey was also wearing, Natsui couldn't help but shake his head.

What a crazy fan, to be so obsessed…

"Oh, right," Casey said, looking up again. "You came to Johto to challenge the Silver League, right?"

"That's right. But before I can participate, I need to collect eight badges first."

Her eyes lighting up, Casey clenched her fists. "In that case, I'm going to participate in the Silver Conference too!"

"You're participating too? Of course, that's great," Natsui nodded. "And you said you've seen my matches, right? Going from a spectator to a contestant is a nice change."

"Hehe," Casey's eyes seemed to sparkle. "I'll also start by challenging the gyms one by one. By then, I'll definitely be stronger than I am today, and I'll definitely surprise you!"

Violet City, a city with an ancient fragrance.

The city was built on a small hill in a river bend. Although it was quite large, much of it was covered by forest, giving it a lush, green appearance, filled with the scent of nature.

After parting with Casey, Natsui and Sabrina had passed through the Ilex Forest and the Valley of Donphan, finally arriving in the city at noon the next day.

Walking into the city, they could occasionally see one or two wild Pokémon in the depths of the dense urban forest.

Needless to say, this was clearly another city where humans and Pokémon lived in harmony.

Being in an unfamiliar place, Natsui had to open his navigation again.

According to the map's introduction, there was a Trainer's School in the city where many children studied knowledge related to Pokémon, aspiring to become excellent trainers.

In addition, in the northernmost part of the city, there was a huge, swaying tower where many monks were undergoing training. As a famous landmark of Violet City, everyone who came here would go to see the tower.

Finally, the most well-known place was the Violet Gym.

The Violet Gym was an official Pokémon League gym, specializing in Flying-type Pokémon. The Gym Leader was Falkner, and after defeating him, one could obtain the Zephyr Badge.

Following the directions, the two passed through the streets and arrived at the gym's location.

When Natsui reached the street corner, he saw a strange building.

This building was the Violet Gym. Its main body was a ten-story, light-purple tower with many windows, spiraling upwards. And the battlefield here, as if to echo the flying theme, was built on the very top of the tower.
