Chapter 340 - Chapter 339: Arceus Mural

This secret chamber was so well hidden and required a mechanism to open, which showed that it must be a very special place.

Suppressing their excitement, Satake and a few other researchers followed Natsui down a stone staircase and into the secret chamber. Although they were slightly disappointed to see that the room was still empty, after their previous experiences, they didn't mind too much and went straight to the innermost wall.

After seeing the Ho-Oh pattern just now, they were now eager to know what kind of Pokémon would appear next.

Quickly approaching, they indeed saw a stone slab. But this time, what appeared before them was not a puzzle, but simply a mural.

Looking at the painting, although they were mentally prepared, they were still greatly shocked when they saw the Pokémon in the mural clearly.

"It was a strange Pokémon with a white body. It had four legs with pointed, golden hooves, and a mane that rose up from its head with a golden pattern. Its face was gray, with green eyes and red pupils, and its ears pointed upwards. On its abdomen, it wore a circular, cross-shaped object with four jewels embedded in it."

How to put it? This Pokémon didn't look like any creature from Earth. It gave off a dangerous and strange feeling, and also exuded a mysterious glow.

"It's Arceus!"

Satake exclaimed in a low voice. He recognized the Pokémon at a glance. Although he tried to calm himself down, his trembling voice from excitement couldn't hide his shock.

The other researchers also gasped in amazement.

"Oh my gosh! It's really Arceus!?"

"How could it appear here!? Could it be that the ancient people had already seen it and began to worship it!?"

Although no one had ever truly seen Arceus, its shadow could be frequently seen in various historical documents, which could prove its existence.

Seeing his companions in such a state, the recovered Satake couldn't help but shout at them, "Calm down! It's just a mural! It doesn't necessarily mean anything!"

Hearing him, the people finally quieted down.

Natsui also walked up to the mural. He touched it with his hand and suddenly said, "Do you guys feel like this looks a lot like a door?"

At his mention, Satake and the others took a closer look and finally realized that this mural, embedded in the wall, did indeed look very much like a stone door.

"Where does it lead!?"

"Could it be to the world!?"

Amidst the surprised voices of the researchers, Satake used all his strength to push and pull, but the stone door didn't budge. He looked to the side, but didn't find any switch.

Natsui also had Gengar pass through the stone door to see the other side, but there was nothing but rock and soil behind it.

It seems… this must be the gate to the Sinjoh Ruins. Unfortunately, they have no way to open it.

However, Natsui had a premonition that he might return here in the future, but clearly, not now.

Beside him, although they had found nothing, Satake and the others were still extremely excited. They took out their notebooks and cameras and began to eagerly record and study it.

But for Natsui, the matter was already over.

Since he had confirmed that he couldn't open it for the time being, he planned to leave this place and perhaps stumble upon a method on some future day.

Thinking back on everything that had happened in the past few hours, this unplanned trip to the Ruins of Alph, although it seemed like a waste of time and he was leaving empty-handed, still had some gains. Not only had he established a friendship with a researcher, but it had also laid the groundwork for the future.

But at this moment, he no longer had the mood to stay.

With this thought, he said to Satake, "Mr. Satake, the rest is up to you. I've stayed for too long, and it's time for me to leave."

"Huh? You're leaving already!?"

Hearing that Natsui was leaving, Satake looked regretful but composed himself, walked up to him, and extended his hand.

"Mr. Natsui, I sincerely thank you for helping us find this place. Without you, we might never have discovered this secret in our lifetime! The disappearing sound… the mysterious hieroglyphic script… Ho-Oh… Arceus… there are still so many puzzles waiting for me to solve. It's a pity… that you can't stay here and continue the research with us."

Natsui shook his hand firmly.

"You're welcome. It was nothing. And I also enjoy solving puzzles. For me, it was a very interesting experience. Although I also really want to solve these secrets, I am a trainer, after all, and challenging the League is what I should be doing."

"Alright then, I wish you the best of luck in the Silver Conference!" Satake nodded gratefully and smiled. "I'll stay here to continue the research. If I find anything, I'll contact you immediately."

"I wish you all the best."

"Take care."

Leaving the Ruins of Alph, seeing that the sun was beginning to set, Natsui and Sabrina were about to mount Charizard to spend the night in Violet City when Sabrina suddenly received a phone call.

The call was from the Pokémon League in the Kanto region. Although Natsui didn't deliberately listen to what was being said on the phone, he still caught a few keywords from the intermittent sound.

It turned out that the Pokémon League had noticed that Sabrina had been away for too long and was urging her to return to the Saffron Gym as soon as possible to fulfill her duties as Gym Leader.

Even though Sabrina's father was acting as a substitute Gym Leader, these people still believed that the 'beautiful psychic' was more suitable to be the Saffron Gym Leader.

Sabrina had originally wanted to ignore it, give up this identity, and continue traveling with Natsui, but fortunately, Natsui persuaded her in time.

After all, the position of a Pokémon League Gym Leader not only had a high social status and was respected by people, but it was also a job.

Natsui couldn't let Sabrina risk having her Gym Leader qualification revoked just to travel around with him.

He said softly, "Sabrina, it's okay. Go back."

Sabrina was about to speak, but Natsui comforted her again, "This is official business, you can't be too willful. And a temporary separation doesn't mean anything. It's just to welcome a better reunion. This is a part of your life, and I won't selfishly keep you by my side."

Sabrina fell silent, her expression a bit unhappy. It was clear that she didn't want to leave Natsui either.

"Alright, just do as I say," he said, stroking her beautiful hair. "Come on, don't take it to heart. And you've been out for a long enough time. You can go back and rest for a while. After this matter is over, you can travel with me again."
