Chapter 339 - Chapter 338: The Puzzle and the Mysterious Script

The discovery of the secret chamber caused a huge sensation here and quickly spread throughout the entire Ruins of Alph Park. People stopped their work and flocked to the outside of the stone chamber, craning their necks to look inside, all wanting to see what secrets were hidden within.

Seeing the crowd gathering, to prevent a stampede and to protect the ruins, Satake quickly had the security line moved forward, keeping the unrelated personnel outside. After doing this, he and Natsui entered the secret chamber through the newly opened passage.

Compared to the outer chamber, it was noticeably darker here, but it was still empty and looked no different from the other rooms. However, on the innermost stone wall, they found a stone slab mural.

The pattern on the mural was clearly visible, but what was strange was that the slab was cut into nine pieces and arranged without any pattern, making it impossible to see what it depicted.

Satake walked closer and, after a moment of thought, finally realized what it was.

"This looks like some kind of puzzle."

Natsui nodded.

Satake was right. Just like in the games, what they had before them was indeed a scrambled puzzle.

From a modern perspective, puzzles are just educational toys. But in that era, it was definitely a very clever mechanism.

And seeing such a mechanism, Natsui couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.

In fact, he had been afraid that after all this trouble, he would end up with nothing. Now it seemed he had finally made some progress and hadn't wasted his effort.

Satake put on his gloves and tried to move the puzzle pieces. However, since they couldn't be removed, he could only slide them around like in a slide puzzle, trying to move them to their correct positions.

Fortunately, as researchers, these people all had high IQs. After just a few simple moves, they had solved the puzzle.

And when the complete shape was presented before them, they finally realized that it was a pattern of a Kabuto.

"A Kabuto pattern?"

Satake was first surprised, but then felt it was within reason.

After all, in that era, Kabuto must have been a very common Pokémon. It was perfectly normal to use them as decoration.

But… was that it?

Was it really just a simple puzzle?

After waiting for a while and seeing that nothing was happening, just as Satake was about to speak, a faint light suddenly emanated from the puzzle, and a few short lines of text appeared on it.

However, this text was not in their modern language, but a script that resembled English letters. But unlike ordinary letters, each letter had a circular, eye-like shape in the middle, which looked very strange.

"This is the hieroglyphic language!" Satake exclaimed.

Although Natsui knew what it was, he still put on a surprised look and asked, "Hieroglyphic language?"

"That's right," Satake nodded. Knowing that Natsui might be completely unfamiliar with it, he took the initiative to explain. "The hieroglyphic language is often found in various ruins. It is an ancient script, the predecessor of the writing we use today. And it is said that it actually evolved from the form of a certain Pokémon."

"Do you know what it says?"

"Wait a moment, let me try to translate it."

Satake quickly took out a manual from his pocket and began to flip through it for comparison.

After working for over ten minutes, he finally took out a notebook and slowly wrote on the paper: WE, WORDS OF OUR CLAN, INSCRIBE HERE.

Just such a short sentence, a few short words, made everyone look at each other in confusion.

Satake scratched his head. "What does that mean?"

"I think…" Natsui didn't want to explain it fully and just said vaguely, "It's probably just some kind of ceremonial language."

Seeing that nothing else happened after the text appeared, Satake was greatly disappointed. He tapped here and there, seemingly unwilling for it to end just like that.

But no matter what he did, there was no reaction.

"Don't worry," Natsui said, taking out the radio again and waving it in front of him. "There should be other rooms. Let's go and try again."

"Other rooms?" Satake could no longer contain his curiosity. "Mr. Natsui, are you saying there are other rooms? How did you know? And… how did you think of using a radio to find the signal just now?"

Natsui naturally couldn't explain and could only say vaguely, "It was just a flash of inspiration. Alright, let's get out of here."

Left with no choice, since Natsui didn't want to say, Satake could only swallow his many questions.

The group left the room. When Natsui turned on the radio again, perhaps because one of the mechanisms had been solved, the sound from nearby had disappeared, but a faint signal could still be heard from other places.

And this made Satake realize that, just as Natsui had said, there was definitely more than one secret chamber.

The group set off again. Having learned from their previous experience, this time, Natsui was in charge of using the radio to find the secret chambers. After finding one, Satake would command the staff to excavate, while Natsui would go and find the next location.

And so, with their joint efforts, they quickly found three more secret chambers in succession.

At the same time, they also found puzzles of Aerodactyl and Omanyte in the secret chambers. And in the last chamber, what appeared before them was a puzzle of Ho-Oh.

The first few patterns were nothing special, but when the pattern of Ho-Oh appeared, the breathing of Satake and the other researchers all became much heavier.

"It's Ho-Oh!" he said in disbelief. "So that means the mysterious bird cry we heard on the radio must be the voice of Ho-Oh!"

Hearing him say this, Natsui also felt that the bird cry was probably from Ho-Oh, but since he had never truly heard its voice, he didn't dare to make a definite conclusion.

After solving the three mechanisms, they obtained three more pieces of text. But after that, the sound from the radio suddenly disappeared completely.

No matter where they went or what channel they tuned to, the radio only produced the endless static of 'shhh, shhh.'

It seemed that the mysterious signals had all disappeared…

"What now?"

Satake was anxious. Everything that had happened today was the most magical and incredible thing he had encountered since arriving at the Ruins of Alph, and it made him eager to know the final mystery.

Natsui also frowned.

To be honest, in the game, this event was just a cutscene or a simple process. But this was the real world, and he didn't know what to do next.

As he was thinking, his gaze swept over the locations of the four secret chambers one by one, and his eyes suddenly lit up.

In his mind, he connected the four locations into a line and then found their intersection. He quickly walked over and soon arrived at a seemingly ordinary stone slab.

He stomped his foot hard, and an echo of 'thump, thump' came from beneath, which meant that under his feet was definitely a new secret room.

Satake could swear that they had walked past this place countless times before and had never seen this stone slab.

It seemed that some mechanism must have been triggered to make the slab appear.

He waved his hand excitedly, having the staff open the slab. And when the slab was lifted, a dark room appeared before their eyes.
