MHGA Chapter 175 – The New Hunters
After agreeing to meet the next day to welcome the new members, the Hunters briefly parted ways to tend to their own tasks.
As for the new receptionists…
Aqua was forcibly dragged back by Kazuma. Raphtalia, as expected, returned to her world together with Naofumi. Nezuko and Tanjiro politely bid farewell to everyone before heading home.
Miko, meanwhile, returned to her world to set up a barrier in her room to ward off the Spirits…
"You two can stay here from now on."
Kairo Retsu led the two girls—Chikako and Yuli—to a newly constructed room built by the Felynes. "If you want to rest, come here. If you're hungry, head to the dining hall…"
"You're welcome to live here for a while and think things over," Kairo reassured the two girls, who still seemed wary even now. "Whether you want to rebuild your original world, move to another one, or just live here in the Gathering Hub—it's all fine."
"Can we call you Guildmaster then?" the more energetic Yuli raised her hand. "What are we supposed to do here anyway? Something called 'Receptionist'?"
"Hmm… sorting records, helping post quests, handling logistics in the Hub," Kairo explained. "The Felynes will assist you too."
"There's that much documentation here?" Chikako paused in surprise, then nodded. "Thank you. We understand. We'll think about it seriously."
After speaking, Chikako pulled Yuli into the room and closed the door, leaving Kairo scratching his head.
They still hadn't completely opened up… but he didn't really mind.
"If anything comes up, just come to me, the Guildmaster," Kairo said, tapping on the door. "I'll always be around!"
Having finished his last task as Guildmaster for the day, Kairo left the receptionists' room and set off to handle one final matter—preparing for the Arena Tournament.
"With an Arena Tournament, Hunters will improve their combat skills much faster—nya!" a Felyne said happily while working on the tournament grounds.
"Seriously…" Kairo sighed. "I really do need to level up my fighting skills…"
"Right now, I'm the weakest one among all the Hunters," Kairo muttered.
Among the current six Hunters—even Kazuma and Laios were adventurers who regularly fought.
Only Kairo, aside from the few hunts he'd done since arriving here, had barely experienced real combat.
"I wonder what the new Hunters will be like…" Kairo said to himself.
The next day arrived. At the appointed time, all the Hunters gathered at the Hub's gate to welcome the newcomers.
"Excellent! Starting today, we'll be a ten-Hunter Gathering Hub!" Kairo looked excitedly at the front gate. "We've got to keep working hard!"
"Now that I think about it, Tanjiro was recruited, and Laios just suddenly joined us…" Kazuma, crouching in the corner, frowned. "How did we get here again?"
"Now that you mention it…" Joseph furrowed his brow. "Didn't we fall from the sky?"
"Yeah, it felt like something yanked us through the air, and then we dropped down," Naofumi recalled. "Come to think of it, weren't we tossed down by a Rathalos?"
Just as Naofumi said that—
A miserable wail echoed through the sky.
"AaaaAAGGGHHHHHH———!!"
Falling from above came a teenage boy in a casual T-shirt—just like the first wave of Hunters, he slammed straight into the ground.
"YAHOO!! It's starting again!" Kazuma gloated cheerfully. "Looks like we weren't the only ones dropped from the sky. Judging by the clothes, this guy's from a modern world too…"
And right behind him came a second person—a red-haired young man in home clothes, who crashed directly onto the first guy.
Before either could react, a third person appeared in the air.
This time it was a punk-styled teen. He panicked and tried to avoid the pile below, but the speed of his fall gave him no time to react—and he ended up forming the third layer of the human tower.
"Huh? There's still one more?" Kairo rubbed his eyes and looked up—only to see a small, bald old man with a white beard descending slowly, his wide robe acting like a parachute…
"Holy crap, there's an old man!" Kairo shouted.
"An actual old man!?" Joseph clutched his cheeks in shock. "OH! NO! Are we gonna have to take care of seniors during hunts now!?"
"Doesn't look like any ordinary old guy," Naofumi quipped.
As the others bantered, the old man landed gently on top of the human pile, calmly gazing down at Kairo and the Hunters. "How did I end up here…"
"I remember… I think I'd already died. I was with my companions, watching a meteor shower…"
His gaze locked onto Kairo. "And you are…?"
"Sir, I'd love to ask your name, but first—let's rescue the ones you're standing on," Kairo said, scratching his head.
The elderly man—though small and hunched—had sharp, unwavering eyes. A single teardrop mole sat beneath his left eye. He must've been a formidable person in his youth.
As for the ones pulled from the crater…
One had punk hair and obvious cybernetic modifications.
One still wore an apron—clearly interrupted while cooking.
And the last, a boy in a T-shirt, still clutched a six-pack of energy drinks in his arms even while unconscious…
"Hsssh…"
Kairo did his best to rouse each of the new Hunters, asking them directly, "Hey there. This is the Hunters' Gathering Hub. Mind telling me your names?"
"Uhh… Rakuro Hizutome?" The convenience-store-looking kid was the first to come to. He looked puzzled. "Did I… get isekai'd?"
"Shirou Emiya…" said the red-haired young man as he stirred. "I was helping Illya and Sella cook, and now I'm just… here?"
"Himmel," said the elderly man kindly. "I believe I died… and was suddenly brought here."
"I don't have time for this!" the punk-haired youth shouted. "My mom's still in surgery! Let me go back!"
"…You are…" Kairo narrowed his eyes at the punk boy. "David Martinez?"
