Chapter 2 - Episode 2: Shattered Innocence

Alice woke up to an empty room, the silence of the hotel stark against the chaotic remnants of the night before. The soft glow of morning light filtered through the curtains, but all Alice could feel was the coldness settling in her chest. She sat up slowly, rubbing her temples, trying desperately to piece together the fragments of the night that felt like a distant dream.

She glanced down, realizing she was completely naked under the quilt. Panic surged through her as her mind raced to recollect what had happened. Bits and pieces flickered in her memory: the club, drinking with Isabella, and then... everything blurred. But one thing was painfully clear—she had lost her virginity to a man she didn't even know.

Tears welled in her eyes, and they spilled over, hot and uncontrollable. The weight of the situation crushed her, and she cried out in frustration and hurt. She had trusted her friend. She had trusted the night to be a fun, carefree escape, not this nightmare.

It felt like hours before Alice gathered the strength to pull herself together. She dressed quickly in the same clothes from the night before, desperate to leave behind the memory of the stranger and the events she couldn't undo. As she moved to the door, a glint caught her eye—a stack of money on the nightstand. The sight of it made her stomach turn. She refused to take it. It felt like blood money, something she could never accept.

She left the room without a second glance, her steps heavy with the weight of the choices that had been made for her. Her mind raced with questions, but she had no answers.

Meanwhile, Isabella had her own rude awakening. Her phone rang shrilly, cutting through the peaceful morning. She answered, only to be greeted by an angry voice on the other end. "You stupid girl! I didn't get what I paid for last night! You'll never see a penny from me!"

Isabella froze, her mind whirling in confusion. She had arranged everything perfectly—or so she thought. She had been paid to deliver a girl to the hotel room, but something had gone wrong. Panicked, Isabella rushed to the hotel, desperate to understand what had happened.

At the front desk, the receptionist confirmed that the occupant of room 101 wasn't the middle-aged man she had promised to meet—but Diego Montago, a name that sent a chill down Isabella's spine. Diego was no ordinary man. He was a powerful, ruthless businessman, someone far more dangerous than she had anticipated. Isabella cursed under her breath, realizing the magnitude of her mistake.

MONTAGO IMPERIUM GLOBAL

At Diego Montago's office, he was furious. His PA, James, stood stiffly before him, trying to keep his composure.

"Where is the woman I requested?" Diego's voice was a controlled fury, every word laced with menace.

James stammered, caught off guard. "I-I'm sorry, boss. She never showed up, but... someone else did."

Diego's gaze sharpened, his expression hardening. "Who? Who was in my room?"

James swallowed, sensing the storm brewing. "A young woman... She wasn't the one you requested, but she was... there." He paused, afraid of saying too much. The tension in the room was unbearable, and Diego's eyes bore into him, freezing him in place. James knew that look all too well—the look that promised either unemployment or worse.

James took a shaky breath and quickly explained, "She seemed out of it. Disoriented. I... I'm sorry, boss."

Diego's jaw tightened. He couldn't shake the image of the woman's face, blurry and hazy in his memory. He turned away, lost in thought, the mystery of the woman gnawing at him. Who was she? What had happened? He needed to know.

Back at Joe's Diner

Alice trudged into work, her movements slow and heavy, each step feeling like she was wading through quicksand. Her usual warm smile, the one that made customers feel at ease, was nowhere to be found. Instead, her face was drawn and tired, her eyes lacking the usual spark. She felt empty inside, her mind still racing from the night's events.

Brenda, Alice's best friend and coworker, immediately noticed the change. Alice was always upbeat, always cheerful—but today, something was wrong. As they worked, Brenda kept sneaking concerned glances at Alice, but Alice remained silent, lost in her own thoughts.

During their break, Brenda cornered her in the back room, her voice soft but full of concern. "Alice, what's going on? You seem off today. Is everything okay?"

Alice hesitated, the weight of the secret pressing on her chest. She hadn't planned on telling anyone, not yet. But as she looked into Brenda's worried eyes, she felt a wave of emotion rush over her. It was time to speak the truth, no matter how painful it might be.

With a trembling breath, Alice recounted everything: how Isabella had tricked her into going to the club, how her drink had been spiked, and how she had ended up in Diego Montago's hotel room. Brenda listened intently, her face shifting from concern to shock and then to anger.

"How could you let this happen, Alice?" Brenda exclaimed, her voice shaking with frustration. "I know you trust Isabella, but this... this was reckless! You deserve better!"

Alice's tears flowed freely now, but as she saw the compassion in Brenda's eyes, her anger melted away. Brenda pulled her into a tight hug, offering silent comfort. "I'm so sorry, Alice. I'll always be here for you. We'll get through this together. I promise."

Brenda's heart burned with anger—not at Alice, but at Isabella. How could she betray her best friend like that? The realization that Alice had been taken advantage of hit her like a punch to the gut.

Two Weeks Later

Saturday morning arrived, bright and warm, but it felt like a cold storm inside Alice. She helped her parents with their weekly chores, trying to keep busy. As she scrubbed the kitchen floor, an overwhelming wave of nausea hit her. Her stomach churned, and she quickly dropped the sponge, clutching her abdomen as she rushed to the bathroom.

Her parents' concerned voices called out after her, but she couldn't answer. The bathroom door slammed behind her as she knelt by the toilet, her body convulsing with violent vomiting. It was more intense than usual, and Alice struggled to breathe between the waves of nausea.

After what felt like an eternity, she finally emerged from the bathroom, pale and shaking. Her mother rushed to her side, her eyes full of worry. "Alice, you don't look well. What's going on?"

"I'm fine, Mom. Just a little stomach bug," Alice murmured, forcing a weak smile. But the discomfort didn't go away. Another wave of nausea hit, and she rushed back to the bathroom, only this time, there was an aching cramp in her lower abdomen that didn't let up.

Her mom followed her into the bathroom, her worry now escalating. "Alice, this isn't just a bug. Something's wrong."

Alice couldn't deny it any longer. As she leaned over the toilet once more, her mother's voice was soft but insistent. "We need to take you to the hospital. Let's just get you checked out."

At the hospital, Alice's mother filled out the paperwork while Alice changed into a gown, her body exhausted and her mind spinning with dread. The tests were quick, but the waiting felt like an eternity. When the doctor finally returned, Alice's stomach dropped as she heard the words that would change her life forever: "Alice, the test results are in... You're pregnant."

The world seemed to tilt. Pregnant? How could that be? It didn't make sense. She had only been with one man, a man she barely knew. Her mind raced, trying to make sense of everything, but nothing seemed to fit.

Her mother's hand reached out, squeezing hers gently. "We'll figure this out, Alice. You're not alone in this."

But Alice wasn't so sure.
