Robert was getting weaker.
The wound at his side had soaked through his shirt, darkening the fabric. Each breath he took was slower than the last. If the bleeding didn't stop soon, he would collapse.
Suzy noticed it too.
She clicked her tongue softly and stood up.
"Don't pass out yet," she muttered.
Without waiting for an answer, she walked into the motel bathroom and started searching through the small cabinet and drawers. Cheap soap. Half-used toilet paper. A box of tissues.
Useless.
Her eyes landed on a thin white towel hanging beside the sink.
"That will do."
She grabbed it and returned to the room.
Robert was leaning against the wall, one hand pressed against his side. His expression was calm, but the color of his face was starting to fade.
Suzy crouched beside him and began tearing the towel into long strips.
"Don't move," she said.
Robert raised an eyebrow.
"Giving orders already?"
"You're bleeding on the carpet," Suzy replied coolly. "I'm protecting the furniture."
Robert gave a faint chuckle that quickly turned into a wince.
"Very considerate of you."
She ignored the sarcasm.
Suzy pressed one of the cloth strips firmly against the wound. Robert's body tensed for a moment, but he didn't make a sound.
For a while, the room was silent except for the faint hum of the motel's old air conditioner.
As Suzy adjusted the makeshift bandage, her fingers brushed against something hard inside his jacket.
She paused.
Carefully, she slipped the object out.
A flash drive.
Small. Black. Metal edges slightly scratched.
And engraved on the surface was a strange symbol.
Suzy's fingers froze for a fraction of a second.
She had seen that symbol before.
At V Club.
Her expression didn't change.
Without saying anything, she quietly slid the flash drive back where it had been and continued tightening the bandage as if nothing had happened.
Robert was watching her.
"You ran pretty fast for someone wearing heels," he said casually.
Suzy smirked slightly without looking up.
"You bled pretty fast for someone claiming to be dangerous."
For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
Both of them understood something now.
The person sitting in front of them was not ordinary.
Robert studied her carefully.
"Suzy Jain?"
She froze.
Only for half a second.
Then her expression returned to calm indifference.
"That depends," she said quietly.
Her eyes met his.
"Who's asking?"
Robert leaned his head back against the wall, thinking.
Earlier that day, the news had been full of one particular story.
A scandal involving the young heiress of the Jain family.
He looked at her again.
"So the rumors were true," he murmured.
"What rumors?"
Robert gave a faint smile.
"A young troublemaker heiress disappearing from a party… and ending up in a motel with a strange man."
He glanced toward the door.
"That's going to make a great headline tomorrow."
Suzy rolled her eyes.
"Please. If you're trying to threaten me with gossip, you picked the wrong target."
She stood up and brushed the dust from her skirt.
"Now tell me something interesting instead."
Her gaze sharpened slightly.
"Who exactly is chasing you?"
Robert didn't answer immediately.
Suzy tilted her head and added mockingly,
"Let me guess. Did you steal something from some… big boss?"
Robert looked at her for a long moment before speaking.
"The people chasing me belong to a powerful underground organization."
Suzy's eyes narrowed.
"They hide behind businesses," Robert continued quietly. "Clubs. Entertainment venues. Legal fronts."
A cold feeling ran through her chest.
Because one of the places she suspected…
Was V Club.
Before she could ask another question—
A car pulled into the motel parking lot.
Both of them heard it.
The headlights swept across the thin curtains, filling the room with pale white light for a brief moment.
Robert's expression instantly changed.
He lowered his voice.
"They found us."
Suzy didn't hesitate.
She grabbed her jacket from the chair.
"Then we're leaving."
Robert pushed himself up from the wall with some effort.
Before they stepped out, he asked one last question.
"Why were you at V Club tonight?"
Suzy paused at the door.
Her hand rested on the handle.
For a moment, she didn't answer.
Then she opened the door and spoke quietly.
"The same reason you were."
Robert looked at her.
Suzy glanced back over her shoulder.
"To destroy them."
